Senior Member TrixGlendevon Posted December 2, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted December 2, 2018 Hi! I have just been getting into bed and I banged my head on a shelf. It bled and I had a quick shower and 2 grafts fell out. Is there anything I can/should do? I have messaged my doctor but she hasn't replied yet. Help! Regular Member ILtrooper Posted December 2, 2018 Regular Member Share Posted December 2, 2018 Banged the recipient area? If grafts are still in there and not disturbed, I wouldn’t worry too much. Just take some otc anti inflammatory pills to reduce inflammation. Now, if the hairs are disturbed, slipped out or something, obviously that’s an issue. When I banged my head, I lost a ton of grafts, had to go back and redo that area. But mine was a major case. Any close up pics?
Senior Member TrixGlendevon Posted December 2, 2018 Author Senior Member Share Posted December 2, 2018 Lost my phone a few weeks ago and the picture quality on this old one I am using is really grainy but there are no other damage to the area, luckily. The doctor got back to me and said just those two are dead and not to do it again. As if I need telling twice 😅 What an idiot I am! Good advice about the anti inflammatory pills. Will take them now. Senior Member Legend007 Posted December 2, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted December 2, 2018 That’s a total bummer bro .. at least it’s only two grafts .. u got thousands implanted so it be okay ..
Senior Member TrixGlendevon Posted December 2, 2018 Author Senior Member Share Posted December 2, 2018 Yes. I am more annoyed than concerned as it is such an easy mistake to avoid. The clinic got back to me almost immediately and said I will have lost only those two so that is great patient care I think given that it is Sunday. Senior Member PlzRespond Posted December 2, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted December 2, 2018 Yeah I wouldn’t worry bro 2 graft out of thousands isn’t going to make a cosmetic difference.
Senior Member TrixGlendevon Posted December 2, 2018 Author Senior Member Share Posted December 2, 2018 Thanks for the support. As I said, I am more annoyed than concerned because it is only 2 grafts. Such an idiot. That will teach me anyway (hopefully) and also shows a lot of them have anchored already which is a good sign.
Senior Member shookwon33 Posted December 2, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted December 2, 2018 Wait, so when is the timeline in which you can accidentally bang your head without worrying about grafts falling out...?
Senior Member TrixGlendevon Posted December 2, 2018 Author Senior Member Share Posted December 2, 2018 The doctor said to me Tuesday i.e. in 2 days they will all be completely anchored so that will be 4 days. However, they already seemed to have mostly anchored as only two fell out earlier and I banged it quite hard. It bled quite a bit.
Senior Member Legend007 Posted December 3, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted December 3, 2018 I think u jinxed me trix.. when I was getting off the plane , I stood up n hit the top of my head.. good thing it was just the top n not my hairline .. when u semi blind from the meds n ur head is numb , those things happen.. Heheheh
Senior Member TrixGlendevon Posted December 3, 2018 Author Senior Member Share Posted December 3, 2018 The head being numb especially doesn't help! I agree. The meds for me weren't that strong and I have very, very minimal swelling today on my forehead but nothing major. I am not even a clumsy person normally!!! Did you lose any grafts? Did it bleed? Senior Member Legend007 Posted December 3, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted December 3, 2018 Nah I didn’t bleed .. it was just the top of my head .. my surgery was on my hairline .. so it’s all good .. just made me be extra careful now though however
Senior Member pkipling Posted December 4, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted December 4, 2018 Glad you didn't totally panic. It does seem like you may have dislodged a couple grafts, but as the others said - it won't make a cosmetic difference... Funny how we could probably count on two hands the times we've bumped our heads in life - but of course when it's crucial that we don't do it is when it somehow happens. There's probably a lesson in there about being human and the power of the mind and whatnot, I'm sure. I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA. My views/opinions are my own and don't necessarily reflect the opinions of Dr. Mohebi and his staff.
