Texas32
Are there doctors out there that have a better reputation for, or more renowned for crown transplants than others? Thanks!
Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted July 17, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 17, 2013 Texas, I can't think of any who are known particularly for their crown work. Frankly, I would take a look at our recommended physicians and see which doctor's crown work you like best. Good luck! Senior Member Cant decide Posted July 17, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 17, 2013 While Dr. Rahal is not "known" for crown work, I do feel that his approach with the crown is different than many other docs and is very good. I happen to agree with his approach which is why I am having crown work done with him in 3 weeks. His approach is different than Dr. Wong for example IMO. The difference in his approach deals mainly with angulation and lateral graft distribution. Senior Member Shampoo Posted July 17, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 17, 2013 One of the main reasons I decided to fly from Texas to Vancouver to see Dr. Wong was his crown work. After careful study I personally nicknamed Dr. Wong the "King of Crown". Below is a video where Dr. Wong talks about the crown. Dr. Dow Stough - 1000 Grafts - 1996 Dr. Jerry Wong - 4352 Grafts - August 2012 Dr. Jerry Wong - 2708 Grafts - May 2016 Remember a hair transplant turns back the clock, but it doesn't stop the clock. Senior Member Cant decide Posted July 18, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 18, 2013 CAnt Decide Wondering if you could please be more specific on the differences between Dr. Rahal's approach and Dr. Wong. Thanks I was using Dr. Wong as an example but I really should not compare and contrast Rahal's approach with Wong's specifically. But in general, I think Rahal is somewhat unique with the crown for the following reasons: 1. If the crown area to cover is large, he would rather leave a thin spot and plant higher densities to shrink it. This is instead of just trying to cover the whole crown with lower density which I see many docs doing. 2. I think Rahal is big into making sure crown laterals are planted at good densities while it seems other docs plant more in the anterior crown and rely on that hair drapping down to cover the crown below it. 3. Rahal seems to angle his grafts in the crown to accommodate a layering which helps with the illusion of density. I am not saying no other docs do these things but from my many years on here and consulting with various docs, I do see the above approach more prevalent in Rahal crown cases. Senior Member Davis91 Posted July 19, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 19, 2013 Can't Decide, Thanks. Your case really fascinated me and have been following for awhile. Best of luck on your upcoming procedure. I can't seem to find a lot of Rahal crown cases on the net but the approach you describe makes some sense. Can you provide some examples? Also, in your past posts you describe as wanting to take this approach on yourself. Could you not provide some pictures now to see where you are pre-op? Senior Member HARIRI Posted July 19, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 19, 2013 When it comes to crown restoration, in my personal opinion based on results seen personally and in the forums:- If Strip, Dr. Wong is the best. If FUE, Dr. Hakan is the best. freder
Dr. Alexander from Scottsdale, Arizona has some very good results and has a reputation for very nice crown work. Just as important, he is a very ethical doctor and prices fairly.
