DavidZ
This doctor is absolutely fantastic. I had been losing hair since 17 and had a couple thousand grafts at 21. Dr Wesley was incredible. He mapped out exactly how to make the best out of my transplant to make the hair look natural and full. I hear a lot of horror stories about surgeries getting botched and hair growing in crooked and so on, but now I have a full, healthy head and no one could even tell that I ha surgery! I'm so happy with it and the doctor was really amazing. He made me feel so comfortable with everything and made sure I felt zero discomfort before, during, and after the surgery. It's been two years and we still keep in touch and he still asks how I'm doing, and I still drop by for occasional checkups or just to talk some more. He's very personable and professional, reasonable and calming. I reccomend Dr Wesley as highly as I can, and sincerely hope that everyone gets the treatment they most need
Senior Member Slickers Posted July 19, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 19, 2012 Another glowing review for Dr Wesley from a first time poster. If you recommend him so highly then you will have no problem sharing your pics as an example of his fine work I assume?

Senior Member formertrackstar Posted July 20, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 20, 2012 Did he charge you $500 for a consultation?! I drove a few hours to have a consultaion with Dr. Walter Unger and Dr. Wesley and they charged $500 for a 20 minute consultaion at their Park Avenue office in New York.. I thought there prices where out of line..

Senior Member Spanker Posted July 20, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 20, 2012 Dr Wesley had some pretty good results and i dont think he has a consult fee but i could be mistaken I wonder if there is more than one. Senior Member Davis91 Posted July 20, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 20, 2012 $500 for a consult would be very out of line. I have heard Dr. Wesley charges $100 for a consult. Can someone from Dr. Wesley's office confirm this?

Senior Member RCWest Posted July 20, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 20, 2012 I believe very few approved surgeons on this site charge for consults. The only one I know of for sure is Dr. Bernstein, who charges $285. $500 would be way out of line! Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily Avodart 0.5 mg. daily Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily 5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily Biotin 1000 mcg daily Multi Vitamin daily Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1? Senior Member formertrackstar Posted July 20, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 20, 2012 To sum this up I just called the office and I asked the receptionist how much Dr. Carlos Wesley charges for a consult.. She said Dr Wesley charges $100.. Dr. Walter Unger charges $250 for a consult.. Dr. Robin Unger $200.. I don't know why they charged me $500 less than 2 years ago.. I asked the receptionist why I was charged $500.. She asked me for my name to look up my file.. She said did you have work done here.. I told her I had just a consultation and had my surgery with another Dr.. She said someone will have to get back to me about this.. I'm just dissapointed I was charged $500 for a 20 minute consultation.. How Davidz got a free Consultation from Dr. Wesley blows my mind away! Senior Member Dr. Carlos Wesley Posted July 20, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 20, 2012 Hi, all. Firstly, thank you to the patient for posting such a nice testimonial. A few first-time posters have generously and candidly shared their experiences about my office recently simply because another patient of mine encouraged me to let follow-up patients know about this website: The HTN. The vast majority of our patients come directly through referrals from physicians, relatives, friends, and hairstylists rather than online, so most of my patients aren't already registered on the HTN. That's why the testimonials are predominantly from first-time posters. Regarding the consultation fees: while I originally provided free afternoon consultations and tried to hastily fit in a larger number of consult patients in a shorter period of time, I began charging a $100 consultation fee earlier this year in order to spend more time with fewer patients. I don't think it is unreasonable for a physician to charge for his/her time and the vast majority of my patients state that the one-hour discussion we have together is extremely thorough and a good value. The other consultation fees quoted by "formertrackstar" are also accurate ($200 and $250) and have been for quite some time. Finally, regarding Dr. Walter Unger, I certainly feel privileged to have trained alongside him prior to his invitation to partner in his practice. His vast experience in hair restoration surgery spans nearly 50 years and seeing many of his follow-up patients from 20-30 years prior has been extremely valuable roll in shaping my approach to younger patients. He has been the lead editor for the main physicians-reference guide for over 20 years and really does care a great deal about the field of hair restoration surgery. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted July 21, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 21, 2012 Davidz, we like Dr. Wesley here and we are sure you got good results. However, we need much more from you in the photo department. Before, immediate post-op, and present day pics along with graft/hair counts. This will lend credibility to your praise of Dr. Wesley's work. Senior Member RCWest Posted July 21, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 21, 2012 I think a $75-$100 fee for a consult is very fair if the patient is serious about getting treatment. $200-$250 is really about right for what a specialist bills my insurance when I see a specialist. Do these fees apply towards their hair transplant surgery? Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily Avodart 0.5 mg. daily Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily 5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily Biotin 1000 mcg daily Multi Vitamin daily Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1? Bill - Seemiller
formertrackstar, Since Dr. Wesley already explained his consultation fees, I don't understand why you would have been charged $500. Also, I see that your profile says you are a patient of Dr. Ron Shapiro. Did you consult with Dr. Wesley and then decide on another doctor - even after you paid $500? Since Dr. Wesley couldn't possibly reply to your questions/concerns without knowing who you are, please send me a private message with your full name and if you have it, the date of your consultation with him. I will then pass it along to Dr. Wesley who can then respond to your specific concerns. For more information, please visit "Maintaining a Fair and Safe Environment on our Forum for Patients and Physicians". Thanks, Bill
