Now I know all about donor density but how do Hasson & Wong get some of these sessions of 7 or 8K grafts? Aside from the patient having high donor density are they able to cut bigger strips than other doctors? Is there some trick they have?

Yeah, they are mega sessions experts. I guess also it maybe they split grafts into 1s for more natural look which will end up into more grafts count.

So if someone with great laxity and density goes to H&W are they more likely to get a bigger graft count than if they went to another top doc like Rahal or Feller?

Hariri makes a good point. Clinics ( I don't know what H&W does) do split follicular units which results in more grafts so I'm not impressed by the sheer number of "grafts" a clinic says they put out. Count the number of hairs that are transplanted and not the grafts.

Pt A undergoes 1 HT session - 3000 grafts which contain 5000 hairs.

Pt B undergoes 1 HT session - 2500 grafts which contain 5000 hairs.

Each patient is getting the same exact number of hairs but patient A is shelling more $$ for the same number of hairs. Clinics sometimes have a legitimate reason to do this, sometimes there are not enough 1 hair grafts for the hairline so they split 2 hair grafts into 1 hair grafts. Its when they do this just to drive up the price that it becomes unethical. Unfortunately, as a patient, I don't think we will ever know for sure what's being done and why. We have to take the doc's word so its important you get someone with an ethical reputation.

They continue to deliver excellent result. Of course, every patient is unique and might not be able to produce such a yield. One size does not fit all.

Jfables who better to answer this question than Dr. Hasson himself. Click through until you get to the video of Dr. Hasson, it is about halfway down the page. Enjoy and learn!

Do Megasession Hair Transplants Increase The Chances of Having Complications?

Thanks. That was very informative.

I've had four FUE surgeries with disappointing results and looking to get a strip done, but I want to get as much grafts as possible and be done with it. Luckily my donor is still pretty thick after all the work I've had.

Not everyone is a 7-8k graft patient. You must have excellent donor density and scalp elasticity to do this. Plus, H&W have the manpower and expertise to do these jobs. You couldn't do this with just two techs cutting grafts.

Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily

Avodart 0.5 mg. daily

Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily

5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily

Biotin 1000 mcg daily

Multi Vitamin daily

Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1? :D

Ditto.

I will add that their strips seem to be longer than most.

So do you think it's safe to say that they are able to excise the biggest strips? Are any of the other top docs using the techniques that Dr. Hasson describes in the video posted in this thread?

I'm sure if any surgeon requires more singles then he will split grafts into singles but for me particualy i had quite a few singles so they doubled my single grafts into one slit, they've done this with a few people so they cater to whatever you need but the graft count is what it actually is. For me my graft count was 5300 but i had 4700 slits.

Bonkerstonker! :D
