I've been on generic fin Dec-Jan and then on Propecia til now (changed as I got lazy trying to buy generic fin online). I think I've been lucky to avoid any major sides. The only thing that was different was more watery semen in the first few months. Things have all returned to normal now.

Regarding potential Propecia users who are nervous about the sexual side effects, my advice has always been to try it yourself and see how the drug affects you.

 

But earlier this week I read some disturbing new research about the long term dangers of propecia/finasteride which is making me carefully rethink my current usage. Let me try to find those links..

Never had any side effects with either Finasteride or Dutasteride. I don't wake up with morning wood quite as often but I am 40 years old now.

Stay away from it Bro, Its the devil drug. It will turn you to a woman or to an old man, you will gain some hair but will lose a lot of libido, which is to me more embarassing than losing hair which is a nature of a man. Stick to Minoxidil and others. Stay away from Finastride pls.

I've been on 1.25 mg finasteride for ten years.

 

Firstly physically it doesn't make you a woman i'm a proffesional thai boxer i have been since i was a child and i'm the current british champion, the drug has never heald me back as people claimed it would when i first started taking it and it has never stopped me gaining muscle mass or knocking other men out who do not take the drug.

 

Mentally i love the drug, yes you do lose your sexual desire slightly but you still want sex a couple of times a week and in my opinion it improves your sexual performance.

 

Also because you're not like a horny kid every day like virtually all men are you think with your head a lot more than your dick. As it happens in my relationship we're about even now but before i used to go in a mood if she wasn't in the mood for it every day and i'm sure every man reading this will definitely have experianced that.

 

The only negative thing i have ever experianced was in the first year i had a slight aching in my groin every now and again but it never reappeared and i can assure you that slight ache was nothing compared to the constant mental torture of losing my hair. It's a better invention than the internet.

I too had some discomfort in the groin area. Its been 6 weeks now and the discomfort is slowly fading away. I would say I had it once or twice a week.

That's it for side effects, bedise watery semen nothing else for the moment

I took this evil drug for 3 months almost 2 years ago and still feel sides. I am currently on androgel to counter what the drug has done and my libido still is not what it used be just prior to taking the drug. Studies in europe are now showing that there can be persistent side effects that remain even after quitting. I wish I had never taken the drug. I am fortunate compared to some others who it has really screwed up. Do your research before you decide to take this drug.

I'll have to agree with "bonkerstonker"s sentiments about finasteride.

 

I've been on it for well over 10 years and, while it did reduce the overall intensity of my sex drive, it definitely never interfered with my ability to perform in the bedroom. As a matter of fact, like bonker said I think it probably made me a more sensitive, patient and effective lover because it took away some of the "edge" associated with my sex drive.

 

From age 13 to 28 (pre fin) my sex drive was a barbaric, insatiable BEAST that literally dominated my life 24/7 and was actually more of a burden than something positive. Ironically, the same thing that was causing my hair to fall out was also the culprit in making me outrageously horny to the point where it was actually harmful to my ability to concentrate in college.

 

I think that many of the guys who get ED from fin were probably already relatively weak in that department to begin with, and then the fin just put the final nail in the coffin for them. While in college I also made extra money by selling my sperm to a sperm bank. One of the big requirements was that you had to have a very high sperm count in order for the sperm to survive to cryogenic freezing process. I was told that my count was always VERY high, even though I masturbated quite often at that time as well. I remember there were several other guys I knew in college who could not qualify for the program because their counts were too low; these guys also had alot less facial hair as well as significantly smaller penis sizes compared to mine. In a nutshell, their sex drive was not even close to mine in terms of potency. I think it HIGHLY likely that men like this could very easily end up with ED from taking finasteride -- because they were already so close to being there anyway.

Epileptic now you come to mention that it makes perfect sense to me, it's obvious now that it must be to do with how high your sex drive is before taking fin, like you say if you're already low then it will wreck your life but i bet there isn't that many small libido men around because we're mainly programmed to be sexual cheating predators in order to make the human race survive. when nature created humans we weren't civilised so in order for us to survive the men had to go round raping women that's probably why we're all hornier than women still. :cool:

Been on it for about 3 years now. It may have affected my drive a little but nothing serious. I've always been as eager as a rhino anyway. But to be safer, I only take it about 3x a week. I guess when you age, it'll affect you a lot more

I would advise you to try it for yourself. If it starts to hurt or causes any problems, discontinue. Your sexual health is far more important than a hair loss cure.

I've stated my experience a few times before but I'll reiterate it here. I've been taking generic finasteride for over two years now. I began taking 1/4 tablet (1.25mg) daily and did so for several weeks. During that time, I had some minor testicle pain, very watery semen and fewer spontaneous erections. After a period of time, I decided to experiment with the dosage in order to minimize the side effects. Eventually, I settled on MWF.

 

I feel that finasteride has done wonders for slowing the progression of my hair loss and I also think that I've gained some additional density. Lowering the dose eliminated the testicle pain and also brought some viscosity back to my semen although it is still somewhat watery. I continue to have fewer spontaneous erections (especially morning erections). However, everything works on demand when I need it. No erectile dysfunction.

 

I feel that I'm one of those guys whose libido may have been a tad too high prior to finasteride. I actually appreciate having fewer "unsolicited" events during the day. However, I'm planning on getting married soon and my fiancee is urging me to stop taking it in preparation for having a child. While I feel it's safe to have children on finasteride and I'm concerned about losing my gains, I feel compelled to comply with her wishes on such an important matter.

I take 2.5 mg a day, just easier to cut in half instead of quarters...No sides...been taking for 9 months
