Recommendations for Doctors

I am seriously considering a transplant. I have consulted with Shapiro Medical Group and Dr. Jeff Eptsein. I live in Orlando but I don't mind traveling anywhere to get the best possible outcome. Both Dr. Epstein and Shapiro are recommending similar procedures. What are your thoughts on these two surgeons? Also, any thoughts on Dr. Paul Rose in Tampa? I have not consulted with him yet. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and recommendations.

Thanks. I was definitely impressed with my initial phone consult with SMG and clearly Dr. Ron Shapiro is very highly regarded. I will check out Dr. Konior. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Definitely go to Dr. Shapiro! The only MD that I would trust in Florida is Glenn Charles.

+1!

Dr. Rose seems good, but I haven't seen enough of his work to make a recommendation.

Between Epstein and Shapiro, Shapiro all the way. Do a search for Epstein on here. He was recommended at one time but his results started losing quality so he was dropped.

Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily

Avodart 0.5 mg. daily

Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily

5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily

Biotin 1000 mcg daily

Multi Vitamin daily

Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1? :D

Thanks. I have now seen some of the issues with Dr. Epstein. Definitely leaning towards Dr. Shapiro. I wanted to consider Dr. Rose since he is so close by and seems to have a good reputation and a good relationship with Dr. Shapiro as well. Any additional insight on Dr. Rose would be greatly appreciated.

I worked for Dr. Paul Rose for approximately 10 years when he worked with SMG. He works solely in the Tampa area now but Dr. Rose is highly

skilled and caring physician. He is worth consulting with.

Thanks Janna, that is quite an endorsement. I may meet you soon as I am seriously considering scheduling a procedure with Dr. Ron Shapiro. I had my phone consultation with Matt last Friday.

Orlhair,

Both Dr. Rose and Dr. Shapiro (Ron and Paul) are member of our elite Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians and highly respected by our community. Furthermore, I suggest reviewing all our recommended hair transplant surgeons and considering consulting with an reviewed, approved physician from that list. Good luck!

Thanks Blake. I just keep seeing such positive things about Dr. Shapiro that I am feeling compelled to go ahead and set up something with him. Still want to think about it and get as much input as I can.

Thanks again for your advice!

I have not been able to get in touch with Dr. Rose yet, but still trying. I did speak to Dr. Charles last week who was very friendly and seemed to provide solid information. Have also been talking to Matt and SMG and currently still leaning towards scheduling with Dr. Ron Shapiro. I was interested in talking to Dr. Rose, particularly after considering the comments above, but for some reason he did not respond to his email. Perhaps he didn't get it. Any additional advice or recommendations are appreciated.

After doing a lot of research in this forum and speaking to a few doctors and clinics, I scheduled my surgery with Dr. Ron Shapiro to take place this June. I waited until then because right now I am training for my first marathon which will be on June 5th. I had great conversations with the various doctors/clinics I spoke to, but in the end I felt most comfortable scheduling with Dr. Shapiro. I will keep everyone posted. Thanks to all for your feedback.

A good friend of mine got his done by Epstein... he is very pleased with his result! In fact, he's going back for seconds.

Obviously, SMG is highly regarded on these forums as well.

My final advice is if you were located in the east, go for Dr. Rahal, if you are located in the west, go for Hasson and Wong... These two are the best surgeons in my eyes. But if you insist to have one in the states (USA) then Dr Ron Shapiro will be relatively the best, but demand for a lateral slit technique to be used on you exclusively, it gives you better coverage and density illusion. Good luck.
