  1. You need to go out and get in contact with former patients no matter what you choose strip or Fue. See the results in person hear there story's away from all the online marketing. I can tell you not all strip results are the same and not all Fue results are the same. I am a long time poster of this and other hair forums and can tell you it is the only way to do your self the proper research you deserve. Good luck to you and take your time.
  2. I have to say as a long time poster of this and other sites. This is a good way to sum up the use of hairloss internet forums. Good post!
  3. This link may help a bit. http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/des...minicanRepublic.aspx
  4. HI jinny. Just curious what part of the Dominican Republic are you going to? I have been there 3 times before Santo Domingo, Bocca chica. And La Romona these places are all close to the beach and the last one was a resort right on the beach. Never took anything for malaria or heard you had to before going to the Dominican republic. Is your resort maybe in jungle part of the country? Then I can see the need for the pills maybe. I know I am going to the amazon jungle sometime with my girfriend and family to a resort in Colombia now for sure there I would need to take something for malaria.
  5. "i had another concern at first about the doctor who was barely there, he was doing a strip while two surgical techs extracted the units and one of them transplanted them, all he did was make the 350 holes in the bald area," Hi JohnBr. First off wish you the best with your latest surgery. Surgical techs should not be cutting the skin if that is what you are saying by extracting the grafts. The doc just made the recepient holes and that's it? I just hope you had few meetings in person to talk to former patients and see the work. All is I know from my years of research is not all Fue is the same. As not all strip is the same. It is based on reputation and long term results.
  6. "In that case then why are we all on here(this site) trying to find a good doc then if by your argument is we shouldnt make a choice by looking at websites ???" Website photos are just the start to researching ht's. Then you go to forums to look for feedback on certain docs you might be interested in. Contact former patients from the docs you are considering through pm's on the forums and last go see patients in person.
  7. "2. It seems to me we are all intelligent enough to asked informed questions and see through BS." . Well said Nic Nitro agree 100%
  8. Hey guy's no need for all this. I remember when you 2 first registered here 2004. You agreed on most everything. You both add to the community. Hairloss site politics is B.S. There is enough information out there on all sites to make informed descions these day's.
  9. Hi Wuntmunz. If you are asking about past patient experiences . I highly recommnded him. If you need only 500 grafts definately Fue in your case. Possibly prices may have changed a bit since the economy has been dragging around the world. Not sure what he charges now but worth a free consult in my opinion anyway. I traveled from the states almost 6 years ago and would do it again in a minute if I ever need more work done in the future and decide to go FUE.
  10. Just read your story. Sorry to hear this happened to you. I also had a consultatnt 9 years ago do all the graft estimates and did not meet the doc to the first day of surgery. Overall this surgery was crap until I found a great doc through research. You say you are in Ohio. You might want Dr. Brad Wolff to look at that scar and advise on repair. He is in Cinn. And I have seen his work on scars in person . Good luck with everything.
  11. "Yet despite member's attempts to get you to post your photos so we can see why you are so bitter, you do not." Learned this a long time ago about internet hairloss forums. Any one can say anything on the internet. You need to show your complaint photos and history from start to finish so we can see what you are unhappy about. This was one of the first sites I signed up for in my ht research. I don't post that much anymore since I had a positive ht and maybe I don't agree with everything posted. But I do check in from time to time and see who is doing what in the ht world.
  12. Megasession Fue doing 3000 in a day I would not feel comfortable with. I have had Fue over 5 years ago 1100 over 2 days. Growth rate from my procedures as good as any strip of 1100 being perfomed . In my eyes, from friends that have seen my work, and even some of the docs that are mentioned here. Now with that said. Sure it was a small procedure but if I had to do ever 3000 grafts. I would just spread it out over a few days. I personaly witnessed several of these procedures and the grown out results before I decided to get one hair transplanted on my head via Fue with my doc. As far as strip sure it is producing great results but under the right hands. My first 3 strips were not under the right hands. It works the same with fue procedures. You start with with online discussions but that is just a start . Then you would want to start e-mail dialouge with past patients that had the procedures done and possible meetings in person. Sure it sounds like a lot of leg work before you decide on a elective procedure but you only have one head and it is well worth it to not get messed up from the start. I have met many patients over the last 8 years that are in need of severe repair because of bad work. Arfy. Dj. to name a few. Been around for a while and I consider myself well researched in who is doing what out there. Just take your time you owe to yourselfs.
  13. And these are the words they are selling to the general public. "Spencer Forrest Sets Sights on Beating Genetic Hair Loss, Begins Clinical Trials on the X5 Hair Laser Spencer Forrest Inc. has begun clinical trials aimed at assessing the efficacy of the X5 Hair Laser in men with hair loss. The X5 is the only laser product to enter trials with 15 individual lasers and an array of design improvements on earlier laser therapy products. September 4, 2008 -- In yet another milestone for its line of products aimed at countering hair loss, Spencer Forrest Inc. has officially entered clinical trials with its X5 Hair Laser. Featuring 15 individual lasers that interact directly with the scalp, the X5 is the most powerful Laser Therapy device on the market. It is also the first device to enter clinical trials utilizing individual lasers to ensure maximum user benefits. The trials will determine the efficacy of the X5 in stimulating the re-growth of hair in men who are balding. If proven effective, the X5 will become only the fourth product ever to gain recognition by the FDA for treating male pattern baldness. The multi-centered, randomized placebo-controlled clinical trials are taking place at three sites throughout the United States, including one major University. The trials will last for six months and will include a significant number of male subjects. A female study is also in the works and will begin pending the outcome of the male trials. In the weeks and months leading up to the milestone clinical trials, Laser Therapy quickly became one of the most talked about new treatments for thinning hair gaining the endorsement of medical professionals worldwide. It is the only doctor recommended treatment for thinning hair that is drug free, causes no negative side effects and doesn't require daily use. It also requires no prescription and, with the lowest pricing of any laser therapy device, is affordable on nearly any budget. Improving upon other laser devices on the market, the X5 is completely cordless, features a backlit LCD treatment timer and is built for user comfort, fitting in the palm of even the smallest hand. Most importantly, the X5 utilizes a floating head design which allows the laser light to contour to the scalp and ensures all affected areas are treated without hindrance from existing hair. It also comes with an industry leading six-month money back guarantee and a full two-year manufacturer's warranty."
  14. I agree. Even though I had thinning areas I still hated using it. Since the ht 5 years ago I never miss using this stuff.
  15. Can you tell us who your doctor was?
  16. B-Spot. I am happy to hear this . It's been a long time comming since I first registered here that more top quality docs are now offering FUE. Wishing the Shapiro clinic all the best!
  17. 5 Years after.Details of my procedures here. http://www.hairsite2.com/gallery/woods_franklin2.htm
  18. whymewhy. Here is a link from my ht's. It is the only place I have pics. Not sure if it is similar to your situation. Hope this helps.http://www.hairsite2.com/gallery/woods_franklin2.htm
  19. Can you post some of your pics here. I had some thinning not in the typical n/w pattern. I will try and attach a link if permitted to show my pics and situation.Right now I just went to the other website and it seems to be down at this time.
  20. "FUE carries a much higher risk of follicles dying before transpant as they are removed individually. FUT , or the strip method, really does produce much more healthy and lasting follicles for transplant. See (promotional link removed) and view the comparison between FUE and FUT. I used this guy for my own surgery and he is seriously good. He's been practising almost 20 years - he knows his stuff," Since this was a quote in a topic about Fue compared to strip.Just how many Fue grown out patients are avaliable for a perspective patient to see if we were considering going the Fue route with this doc? I strongly believe one can only talk about there own results with these 2 techniques and not about the technique in general.
  21. In my opinion Fue and megga Fue is quite different. It will be interesting to see the results of these procedures down the road.As far as grafts surviving. Mine are still growing strong over 5 years later.
  22. I could be wrong. But isn't Dr. Rose in the coalition? I know he does Fue. So does Bernstein and Rassman. How much they do at this time. I really have no idea.I do see them post from time to time. Best way is to contact the docs yourself and ask to meet some former patients. Also I do agree that information from a doc that does it day in and day out is valuable.
