  1. I hear ya on this. I had long discussions about Fue before I had it done. And what would happend if not craefully done. From Woods and Bernstein at the time. They had different opinions on who a good candiate was but I was happy for the incite. Also I would have had a lot more respect if more clinics even acknowledged that Fue was a option even if they were not doing it themselves back in 2000.
  2. Bill. Of course there is potential problems with Fue. Same as I use to here aout strip megasessions until they were proved(and by viewing patient results)that they work. When I first came to this site we saw a lot of the same docs that are on here saying the yield will be lower when doing megasessions. But we know different. We don't really need a lot of jargon we just need to see results. Any procedure performed incorrectly and without doing it day in and day out. Is big time potetial for failures.
  3. I would just like to add. Every doc get's complaints. I have been on hairloss boards for years. Just all the facts have to be posted so we know if it is legit or not. Good job Bill for asking for all information to be posted. Also I would like to know why wasn't Fue offered when he went to Dr. Bernstein? I remember back in 2002 talking to Dr. Rassman that Fue was ideal for those with tight scalps. Anyway good luck on your repair. Quest.
  4. RKS. I have personaly seen some work in person of patients of Dr. Wolf. Top quality in my opinion. He is in Cincinnati. Definately worth a in person consult. That will tell you more than anything on the net. After you meet some of his past patients you will then know if he is the one for you to do ht with or not. Also I am not sure about now but in the past he also did consults in Columbus. Good luck with your research.
  5. Ethics? Because he charges a higher price? Simple you like the work and the outcome and you pay. It is elective surgery. If you think you can get the same elsewhere than that's fine too. As far as I am concerned. When I went for this ht with him I took recommendations not from a website. (I only used several as a starter.) But from many past patients and personal meetings to see the work before I went in. I suggest (as a ht vet) you do the same no matter who you choose. Good luck on your research.
  6. Found this on another site. About pricing."based on the individual's needs evaluated on a case by case basis"
  7. From reading this. I think you should definately proceed with caution. Ht is not going to slow down or halt hairloss. So quite possibly no matter who you go to you still will be chassing your hairloss. Have you tried propecia yet? Ive been on it over 7 years and have no further loss at the moment. As far as recomended ht docs in Australia? I am in N.Y and flew to Sydney Australia Jan 21st 2003 to have my procedure with Dr. Woods. Very satisfied.Even though it was a small procedure compared to what megasession strip is these days I only needed 1100 grfafts to meet my needs. But fortunately I have been able to meet 20 patients or so in the last 5 years and the work is solid. When you are ready no matter who you go to, make sure the doc has a few patients similar to your needs and that will give you the best idea if a transplant is for you. But first at 25 try and slow down your hairloss with some meds. Good luck.
  8. B-Spot this sound advice. If he doesn't like what he see's. Then he moves on.
  9. Good Post! But I do agree that Armani does pack to many grafts in the 20 something year olds.
  10. For all potential ht patients. Look around and find patient story's and try contacting them through the web. That is the most accurate. Every site has there recommended docs so I can see how it can get confusing. Good luck to all and take your time on your research.
  11. I traveled from the states to Australia to have Fue by Ray Woods almost 5 years ago. 100% Happy with the results. And you were recomended about a total of 1200 grafts? I would not get strip for that many. It all depends on your situation. Age, when your hairloss started, family history. Do you want to keep hair short? My advise call for a consult. If you want Fue .
  12. I went to Australia. I had it done by Dr. Woods. This is only after I had a chance to go to 2 seminars that were offered in N.Y and I had a chance to meet at least a dozen of his patients . And after consulting with many docs here in the states too. Just liked what I saw. There is much information on the net but contacting former patients yourself is the way to go for final descions in my opinion. I went then and would go again if I even need another in my life.
  13. Charlieb . Hope all turns out well. I too had graphs in the crown area some years ago. All turned out great. About 800 and some 300 towards front. I was just going in to add density. But happy to report no shockloss at all. And I had a lot more hair than you had up there . Anyway I would say about 6 months is when I started seeing the improvement . But I don't understand this quote"Wait for the results, also she is the only doctor in the southern hemisphere with any skill at all" I went to your area to get in done from the states.
  14. B-Spot and Stevo. Great post's. Just curious how long both of you have been online researching ht's? You seem to have a good perspective of this situation. Anyway there are some very talented docs on here but to say just beacuse they are in a coalition they are on par with all others that belong to it is not so. Imo. And this right here can be very confusing to the newbies.
  15. I will agree with Bill here on Gho. In early 2003 I attended a seminar in NYC to hear all about this gho procedure. He talked about his procedure how the donor hair regrows. And that he would have some kind of working Hm protocol out by 2006. Well I saw some of his patients that had the so -called donor regrowth and none can be verified he said anywhere between 20-80% . It is hard to tell. I just did not see it and his 2 Fue patients that were there only had a few hundred grafts done. Just my opinion I would not consider this doc unless there were many more results to look at. And in 4 years there just isn't.
  16. While you are waiting your response from Bill. I will share some info out there about Fue from experience. When talking about survival rates of Fue vs. strip. I wish people would zereo in on what doctor they went to and the docs experience doing the procedures. I had strip 3 times from over the last 7 years. And my survival rate was lower with strip than my Fue. Why? I come to the conclusion that my strip docs technique was not state of the art.Like we see here from great docs like H&W and others talked about on the site. You have to do the same comparissions with Fue. Can you see how this can confuse newbie posters? There are many these days that are doing Fue and having different levels of success with it. There is information out there on the web and people to contact with success story's of Fue for you to be able to form your own educated opinions on the procedure . If you were looking to get a strip procedure would you go to Bosley or H&W? You have to use the same research in choosing Fue. And as far as a popular Fue doctor saying 10,000 -15,000 Fue grafts availiable? There is no information out there to prove that it's true.
  17. Here is what you want to do. You say you are looking into Fue. Well go ask Dr. Rassman if he can provide for you at least 4-5 patients that have had FUE done over the years. Take a good look up close and see if you would be satisfied with the yields and donor areas of these patients. There are very few doctors that are doing Fue as compared to strip. So you want to do as much research as you can. Good luck to you.
  18. folica. I hear you on some of your points you are making. Here is the way I allways have approached internet forums and gathering information. Look at some pics see who is doing what. Get a dialouge going with past patients and if lucky enough e-mails and phone conversations. Just because someone is employed by a doctor or clinic it did not sway me either way. I use my own judgement.
  19. Hi Bill. Like you having multiple conversations with Dr. Feller as your opinion to go by. I can only go by not just having conversations before my surgery with Dr. Woods. But all important to me anyway is with over 20 patients that I was in contact with some I seen in person others photos via e-amil over the net. And phone conversations. All this before I travelled so far and spent my hard earn money. At this point I do not believe in the megasession as I know that Fue or at least my procedures were long and carefully done. Under high powered magnification. I do agree there will be plenty of docs at this time that will do Fue just to say they offer it with out in my opinion enough results for my eyes. My only thing I would add as you write about Fue why not go out and get a few more interviews together and of course ask for there results and report further. Thanks for your response.
  20. "Candidates: There are more strip candidates than FUE candidates. Additionally, Dr. Feller has admitted (on the hair transplant network discussion forum) that there is no surefire way to know before starting the surgery whether or not a patient is REALLY an FUE candidate. So when moving forward with an FUE session, you are already taking a risk because you may not be a good candidate. So going into FUE, there is a chance that: 1. You'll end up having to go to strip because you are not a good FUE candidate 2. You'll end up going home with no surgery (and most likely less money) because you didn't want strip 3. You'll end up getting an FUE that doesn't yield good results because the doctor performing the surgery gave you the full surgery anyway even though you may not have been a good candidate, which will significantly knock down the success percentage." Bill . First off congradulations on being Forum Co Moderator and Associate Publisher With that said. I will add one thing to the topic. You have to consider more than just one source of Fue doctors when making a strait across the board statement on Fue. Don't you agree?
  21. No problem. I feel the same way when I see what some of these docs do to patients. All goes back to the days when I first met D.J and Arfy. Not sure if you remember these guys? But they are good people and where done wrong by docs that were suppose to improve their appaerance. We all hope the best for this guy in need of repair.
  22. Hello B- spot. I think this comment is uncalled for."Pat, you should know that I am calling out Dr. Woods, who instead of offering his services offered some pretentious "advice" as usual. I am hoping to shame him into helping. Whatever works, right? " Just to let you know I am a poster too on hairsite and have been others. And I called Dr.Woods personally myself about a week ago on this issue. Been a long time since we chatted had my procedure over 4 years ago. Anyway I know how this came to pass on Hairsite. The moderator there recieved the photos from the patient. And David put them out there to see what could be done. Also I know as in the past anytime someone does this David contacts the doctors on his site to see what can be done. We all want to help. But many of times this just turns into a grandstanding I am the good guy doctor that responds on the net. Look what happened when Dr Bazan responded? Why should any doc have to go through all this B.S. Many doctors do pro bono work they just don't go advertising this before anything is done. So his response was probably do to all these people that said what about this doc and that doc. Why do they not respond? So by telling him there is no room for era and to be careful there is no problem with that. This patient has been badly damaged before. I don't know anyone that would have taken Bazans offer just because it's free. Without him having the reputation of doing many repairs .
  23. I will agree with Joe . I am basing this on talking to former patients that had bht over 5 years. Dr. Woods used this on Timetested who I have personaly met on 2 occassions over the last 5 years. His body hair grew and he used it as a filler amongst his repair work. It is a last resort and not oversold like I have seen with other clinics. But it will never take the place of head hair. And Hairlosscure. The only kind of Charecteristic that I have seen and that is with chest and back hair on this particular patient is it's length doubled from what it was on the chest. This does not have to be overmarketed. But for some depleted donor patients it has been a viable option.
