  1. Well I do not really want to promote certain docs over another that is not what I think is the main function of the boards. I can say I have seen Dr. coles work, Dr Jones. And Of course many many former patients of my doctors work dating back to 2002 that is what made me make up my mind. I can say his extraction sites overall are the smallest I have seen and with the yield that follows. Your going to hear also about what kind of tools some are using and how small and great they are but if the experience is not there yield can suffer. I was a past strip patient nothing against it and my scar is not horrible not great I would say somewhere in the middle. After 3 strips I just did not want to go through it again. I can say I walked around with a very low guard #1 clip for 7 months after the procedure and no one ever asked me about the extractions just the strip scar . But today the hair in the back covers it up since I grew it out.
  2. Yes if you want to go down to almost zero guard there definately can be signs of extractions. And do not believe just becaused it is called Fue it is all of the same quality. Think of it as if you were researching strip. Bosley does strip so does H&W. But when you do your just research you will see H&W far outclass Bosleys work.If you are thinking #2 guard on the clippers yes I have seen very high quality work that you can be happy with using the Fue technique.
  3. I will state like I did above. If you are interested in Fue seek out patients from various docs that offer it. You have a few organizations ISHRS. IAHRS, and the coalition. You will notice as even in strip many docs will have different opinion so that a label should not be the end all. From his fotos and situation n/w 6 38 at this time he can start with Fue. And some extra density added with some robust body hair mixed in. My opinion because I have seen succsessful results over the years in person. As you said above I have been around awhile. And do not frequent boards as much as in my beggining search. But contact with former patients is Key. No insult in my tone intended. There are many newbies everyday on forums and I do not want anyone to get burned. I would like to have heard from some Dr. Harris patients before I would consider him myself that is all I am saying.
  4. B-Spot. I am just cutious have you had Fue done? One should tell prospective Fue patients to go out and research all hairloss sites. Then contact and meet patients. I learned this over 5 years ago this is how the internet works. If not one will just get into a market type of hair restoration. And as far as Dr Harris . There really is not much results out there to recomend is there?
  5. 5 years and still hearing these different opinions. Ok I will give you mine since being a recipient of both. Does it leave sarring?that is allways visable? It can and does depending who you go to and how it is extracted. I can tell you I had my head shaved and my strip scar exposed for 7 months after my Fue and no one even looked at myhead and asked about my it. Just my strip scar. I can say you can easily get a wy with a #1 clip if it is performed properly. As far as yields my Fue Yield was better than my strip. But I hold that to the doctor. My first doctor was crap who did my strip . So these questions are to wide based for a cut and dry answer. If you need large amounts of grafts in one shot go to a quality strip doc that has proven they get results. I myself would feel very comfortable going in for 3-4000 more grafts via Fue if I ever needed more. Thank God at 44 my hair is holding steady.
  6. Heres something that might help with the dryness of your hair when using Nizoral shampoo. I have been using 2-3 times a week for the last 4 years since my ht. And found that adding infusium 23 leave in conditioner every day after washing my hair helps with this problem.
  7. Ok I found this quote on another site. About her first ht." nan Regular Poster Posts: 98 Joined: Aug 2004 Wednesday December 08, 2004 8:19 PM i did do a strip.. at nhi. I did about 1 inch ( and maybe a bit more at a widows peak) only at the top forhead and top temples. I hope 1200 is enough! I dint want to do it again. I had a bit of reaction to the medicril stiches and my scar has taken a bit too long to heal. I dont want to put pix cause im a girl..but i have quite good growth already. I jist hope it doesnt look lke a thinning hairline. I think i will have to chse my tail a nit and do some fues in my donor scar unfotunatly. thanks for all the feedback!! ------------------------- So in la that is Rassman. I ask the question why did she get a strip in the first place???? And if you really do search on this poster she says her laxity was not that good to begin with.
  8. Ok here is the breakdown. As I have said I been on here a long time met many of the Top docs mentioned here and elsewhere in USA. From this experience and many of consults. I firmly believe in my statements. First off yes I had a sup par strip surgeon tha Dr. Cordaro in NY. 199-2001. (800 grafts total)So this point I agree with you 100% If I had went to a surgeon performing state of the art stip ht my outcome would have been different. Now I am not getting into numbers because in my case I did not need as many as some posters here. I am talking graft for graft my Fue was performed by Dr. Ray Woods. Very experienced in Fue many cases I had viewed in person plus attending 2 seminars seeing live patients results is what made my descion to go. And if I went to for example to Hason and Wong I beleive I would have gotten the same excellent results. Graft for graft. So this is why I had to comment on the allways comment fue does not yield as good as strip. I encourage future ht patients to get out there and be in contact with former patients and see the results in person. I thank the ht forums on various sites for giving me the starting information to procede in finding a solution that I was looking for. Ht's are a investment in ones self so spending the time and travel is priceless.
  9. I have been on this board (2002) and others and I see these statesments made I have to comment. It is a strait forward statement you are making. And I disagree as both a strip and Fue patient. It depends on the quality of the docs experience and technique they are using. My strip had poor yield. (Bad choice of doc on my part)1999-2001. My Fue produced great yield. And that was 4 years ago.
  10. RoboNick congradulations on your ht. After 4 years of your research you must have decided on a top notch Fue Surgeon. And not to worry as your earlier question was does Fue take longer to pop out than strip? Not in my case just the opposit. I had 3 strips and my yield was horrible but I chalk that up to picking a bad surgeon until I was able to read up on this site and others and met many former patients. Good growth to you.
  11. You might want your friend to take a look at this.http://www.4hair.com.au/default.asp?MenuID=175&RefMenuID=164&Category= And he would not have to get a strip scar.
  12. Most all men experience some degree of hair loss in their lifetime. Some men experience senile alopecia which is a gradual thinning hair process which starts at around the middle thirties and progressing slowly up to late in life.
  13. As a Former Woods patient. I have been researching Fue and Dr. Woods for over 5 years. Dr. Woods has been doing Fue 16+ years now and no matter what Rassman says he is not the first. I was able to find plenty of former Woods patients back in 2001 before I made my descion to go have my work done. My suggestion is find out about the docs you are interested on these type of websites and go seek out former patients. Through seminars, live workshops whatever. That is what I did and it helps seperate a lot of hype out there. Good luck!
  14. Dr. If I recall Fue was around in 2000 and if it was at first to cover scars from a accident he should have been refered to this type of surgery. 19 years old is to young to go in and start the hairtransplant treadmill. Second .You have diagnosed him with mpb and if it started that soon(19) he should have been put on propecia even after the first transplant and sent home. I hope all the best for this patient.
  15. Yes smoking is not a good for your health. I have had a few ht's and smoked. "by telling you that you will ruin the results of your surgery by smoking." You make it sound like it is a definate here. I had nothing but great results. Quit for your health if nothing else.
  16. Ataylor. You should get in contact with the office and discuss price with them because every situation is dealt with seperately. Are you looking for bht as it say's in the post? Or head hair grafts? Please do not get a ht just based on technique alone do it with experience surgeons and long term results . Not all strip procedures in my opinion are equal and same goes with fue. I am 100% satisfied with my procedures and choice that I made 3 years ago. Good luck in the research.
  17. I think you may be a little confused. Doctor Woods (Woods technique) oprates out of Australia. You may be thinking of Dr. Umar in Los angles area. What I can tell you from experience that there are no assistants during the procedure and he is the originator of the stripless technique(fue) I had the opportunity 4 years ago to see many patients before I made a descion to fly to Australia and get the procedure done. Just like in the strip procedure there are others doing Fue. In my opinion you should research and base your opinion on consistrent results. Good luck to you..
  18. This was 2 weeks after the surgery. I went to a seminar so all could see what it looked like post op. I also zero shaved the back also under the scar (where I had my strip scar from 3 small strip surgery's that yielded poor growth before my Fue) that might be what you see there with a little irritation from the buzzer. My Fue yield was great. I let it grow out for a month then buzzed again and all was good.
  19. Here are some of my pics. 9 months out of surgery also on there is 2 weeks out shaved.http://www.hairsite2.com/gallery/woods_franklin.htm
  20. East thanks for clearing this up. Because as you know newbies are allways comming into the sites like the question above. It is good that you made it clear. Like all ht's it is about numbers for a indivduals required density.
  21. East sorry to here that. I went to Woods excellent yield. It is in the technique I keep saying. Just like great strip and average strip. These post should not be about strip vs. Fue. It should be about finding a great doc. And once you do. Then you can decide which route to take in your hair restoration.
  22. Hawk where did you here this that Fue for crown might not be as good as strip for crown?.In theory they are healthy grafts being placed. With Both techniques. Now the the question should be is to find a qualified surgeon that produces consistent results time after time. I had a little crown vertex work going on 3 years now and they grew great.
  23. I would agree with Arfy on this one. We all have choices and if someone feels better if doctor does most of the work in the transplant so be it. I like my doc to do all the work.
  24. Ahh yes no one is giving nothing away for free. That much is true. Interesting enough a invitation this time (a legit one )was offered by none other than Dr. Paul Rose. For next years conference interesting. And your quote"But in the last three years the Yankees have taken the lead in providing and perfecting FUE .Really?? How many of these yankee docs are doing this full time??? There was a new guy there Harriss??? And he admits still having problems with buried grafts in the extraction process. You see wether it is strip or Fue extraction method does not mean you are definite to get quality result. It is said doctor and his or her technique along with experience.
  25. This is from another website"Subject: "RE: ISHRS MEETING 2005" Previous topic | Next topic Curious Wed Aug-31-05 01:49 PM Member since Jul 21st 2003 100 posts #27920, "RE: ISHRS MEETING 2005" In response to In response to 6 Drs. Woods and Campbell did attend the ISHRS meeting in Sydney, including the FUE workshop. It's my understanding that the turnout for the FUE workshop was quite good. They did not speak but were invited to make a presentation at the ISHRS meeting next year in New Orleans. All I can say is it's about time for the invitation.
