  1. I agree that he is the man! The frustrating part is the waiting for new growth. It is imperceptable to me by looking in the mirror each day, but when I look at my "before" photo I can see huge progress. Good luck on your 3rd (wow!) HT. Cheers
  2. sorry but no immediately post-op photos----The plan Dr Hasson and I developed was to cover roughly the front 2/3 ( leaving essentially the circular bald spot that is about a 2.5 to 3 inch diameter). I wanted as large a first HT as he felt comfortable doing ( it ended up being 4925). It was indeed a long day for all involved. My plan is to have a much smaller second HT ( about 2000 if laxity allows) that will cover the crown and slightly lower the front hairline with wispy single hairs....... I , unfortunately, don't have really thick dense hair from which to donate. However, the good thing about our plan is I will be introducing transplanted hairs into "virgin" scalp areas so I'm hoping for a reduced shock loss effect. Cheers.
  3. This is my pre-op, month 3 and month 4 photos. Month 5 are in the message next to this one. I' ll get these photos arranged better for the month 6 photos. Sorry for the presentation. Cheers.
  4. Actually you can view my post from about 2 weeks ago titled " salt-n-peppa hair growth journey"...it shows pre-op,month 3 and 4. I'll try to get all the photoos together in a blog as it is way more convienient than the method of posting I am currently doing. Cheers.
  5. my lasest update. Still waiting for more to grow, I assume I am at about 60% growth now with much more thickening to still take place.
  6. no hair coloring, no dermamatch or anything. I think the camera is a little deceitful on the month 4 photos, while there is growth ,it is quite thin at this point. For month 5, I'll do a head-on photo that should be more illustrative. WRT hair coloring, that really isn't a concern of mine. I suppose we are all vain in different ways- I simply want a nice crop of hair on my head ,gray or brown. Having said all that, if my 2nd HT produces the results I think it will, who knows, perhaps green dye so I can rock out at a Green Day concert. Cheers and thanks for the comments. S-n-P.
  7. I have enjoyed viewing other peoples photos and wanted to try to chronicle my journey too. My HT was performed by Dr. Hasson of Hasson and Wong on May 23rd, 2006. 4925 FU's were transplanted. We discussed expectations and concerns at length the morning of the HT. I was quite nervous about having too low of a hairline and too dense of hairline ( I am in my late 40's and didn't want to look like some pictures I've seen with a teenager type hairline). Ironically, I plan on going back for an additional HT of about 2000 FU's early next year with the goal of covering my crown and a "slight" lowering of my hairline. I started using Avodart 3 times a week about one month prior to my surgery. I had previously been using Propecia for about 2 years. I believe that Propecia stabilized my hair loss, and I remain hopeful that the addition of Avodart will actually contribute to a fuller crown. I rated myself as a Norwood 5, but Dr Hasson said my hair was thin and quite diffuse, possibly leading to a NW6. My apologies in advance for the poor photo quality. The pictures are all without any product or concealers. I don't think any pictures had a flash but I only recently became aware ( from reading this forum) that it can give an improper representation of hair growth. I welcome your comments. I am quite pleased with the artistry of Dr Hasson. It does seem that the hair on the top of my hair and in particular the crown area is growing in at a slower rate. Patience it difficult sometimes. BTW, I have the top cut to about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch for now. Oh, one last piece of critical info, I am still wearing a system until about 4 months post HT #2. I can guess what most of you are thinking already but, it is what it is, I won't change my mind. There will be a great unveiling, but it will be when I am finally comfortable with my looks. Cheers to all. Salt -n-Peppa
  8. Morning RGCamp- I too live in Colorado and did my due diligence researching Doctors and felt most comfortable using Dr Hasson in Vancover. As I was told long ago, " if you buy quality you only cry once". While you can always search the net and always find some Doctor at a lower price, you are making a life long decision here. Even marriages don't work 50% of the time, you sure want this to be a 100% choice that you won't regret. Regarding the hype and BS on all forums, just continue reading for several months to get a basis of knowledge and then talk to 2 or 3 Doctors at that point. This is the process that I went through and for me, H&W stood out and made me feel most comfortable with this incredibly gut wrenching decision. Zero regrets on my part 4 months post HT. Best of luck, just take your time and only then make your decision. Cheers
  9. does this mean you can get jock itch on the crown of your head???
  10. I think that the Doctors that are spoken of so highly on this site have a very full calendar of patients without the need to offer bounty money as an inducement. The Doctors that are younger and less experienced will try to get more clients by offers of a referal fee. As for myself, I am very happy with my results with Dr. Hasson but I get no tribute money for saying so. Just my opinion. Cheers
  11. I'm following your progress as my hair was a little thinner than Bushy but my HT with Dr Hasson was just a week ahead of yours (May 23rd).....I had about 4925 which left the crown and perhaps a little hairline lowering yet to do. I am greatly encouraged when I see where Bushy has gotten to after about 8 months. The hair growth really seems to kick in about month 5 thru month 8. Until that point I seem to just frustrate myself looking for new growth. I still get the head zits ( about 2 at a time) at the 3.5 month point, hoping that subsides soon. Once I recieve my HT day photos from Dr Hasson, I'll post my progress too. Cheers
  12. While it is reasonable to expect no shaving needed with 400 ....said differently, you are saying 1/4 inch by 6 inches ( I.E. 10sq. cm at a density of 40 per sq. cm). Why bother?
  13. You don't even look like the same person to me, awesome transformation. Like you, I had Dr Hasson for my transplant (4925 or so), and I believe I'll need 1500-2000 more at the 8 month point. I am now eagerly awaiting my "new" hair to grow in. My surgery was on May 23rd, so I am only at the 2.5 month point right now. I can only hope that my procedure looks as good as yours. Again, congratulations. I'm sure your photos will encourage others to follow your path. I will post my own photos once the hairs start appearing. Cheers
  14. My strong suggestion is to consult several HT docs. The doctors routinely listed here is a great place to start. I had three comsults before I decided the best for me was Dr. Hasson in Vancouver. I have been pleased with my results so far.Whomever you decide to have do your work, you have to be in complete agreement of your goals and to have realistic expectations. Good luck, better to over-do the research than to be unhappy with a rushed decision. Cheers
  15. I lost a fair amount of hair from around my donor strip area...about 1.5 inches wide and mainly concentrated on the sides where the donor strip was taken from but not the back of the head for some unknown reason. I ordered some DermMatch via the web (Brown and Silver)and think it is an awesome product. I only have personal knowledge of using a small amount on the donor stip area but the girlfriend had no idea what I had done. I have not tried any of the other products that some guys use but I suggest trying the DermMatch. Good Luck
  16. New to the posting experience but I have been an avid reader of this forum. About 2 months ago, I finally decided to go with a hair transplant. I guessed that I was about a Norwood 5, but it is actually super fine baby type hair that is thin and dispersed on the top of my head. Using this forum as the beta testing, I consulted with 3 different doctors and ( this will shock you) got 3 widely different responses to how many FU's I would need and what final coverage I could obtain with two planned procedures one year apart. One Doctor suggested that I could easily get 80 per cm with 2 procedures and only 1600FU's total.....I crossed him off the list. The other two doctors work was highly recommended on this forum and after many questions and much examining of their work, I decided to go with Dr. Hasson in Vancouver. The procedure resulted in 4944FU's and lots of staples!!! Since I had anticipated about 3500 on the first and 2500 on the second procedure, I am thus far quite happy, and ahead on my goal of full coverage. The current stubble on my head shows great promise and artistry from the doctor. I am not ready to post before and after photos but I anticipate at the 4-5 month post operation to show the work. (BTW, my surgery was last week----23May). Basically I wanted to thank all for your experiences, good and bad, and giving me courage to move forward. Cheers
