  1. I am really hoping to never need another one but if I do, I certainly won't hesitate! This has been an absolutely thrilling experience for me.
  2. Ouch. I am one of the ones with almost no body hair. I think I might have 7 or 8 chest hairs and I can't even think about growing a beard. I have like 30 whiskers total on my cheeks. I can do a half ass goatee but even that is thin and funky looking. The advantage is my wife happens to love it that way, smooth "cheeks" and all.
  3. But keep this in mind: I decided to do some "dollar cost averaging" after I looked at how much I paid at H&W. (yes, all you accountants, I know I'm misusing the term here but it seemed kind of applicable; well, maybe not but anyway) I got a hair transplant at 40yrs old. So, IF i live another 35 years, I divide the cost of the transplant by the # of days in 35 yrs. So, for getting to enjoy all this hair for that amount of time costs me about .75 cents per day. I can handle that.
  4. NICE!!!! That looks absolutely fantastic; congratulations!
  5. Hey guys. Yes, it was almost surreal. I was scared I was going to suddenly wake up and find out it WAS a dream. And she was about 55, married, and overweight so I'm sure she wasn't just flirting I will post pics on Mar 21; that's my one year mark. I CANNOT believe a year has passed already; it was SO fast. On the Avodart: I basically got Avodart and Proscar mixed up so that's why I asked for it. When I got the pills it said .5mg. I thought "WTF?" The I came back to the site and realized what I had done. Read about it all night and decided to just try it every other day to see how goes. If not, I'll just go to proscar or back to propecia. I really don't want to lose any more hair. I've always had thin fine hair AND a serious whorl pattern back there that has always shown scalp anyway so if it starts falling out back there it will be noticeable pretty quickly. That'll suck. Nonetheless, I am still VERY happy with having done this. Thrilled. I had a suit on the other day and DAMN do I look better in a suit with hair than I did with that half balding buzzed head before.
  6. Sorry to seem rude but that just looks flat out like a fucking train wreck. WTF? Look at the spacing, apparent depth differences, row effect, looks like 3 and 4 hair grafts in the hairline....train wreck. STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT!!!! Doctor: buy some wigs and some honey dew melons. Cut the hair off the wigs and at least practice spacing, depth, pattern, etc. before you pillage anyone else. FUCK!!
  7. I went to the doctor today to get a script for propecia. I stopped taking it last year when I had the txplant because my script ran out and I just kept forgetting to take it for days at a time (I'm bad about that kind of thing). Let me see if I can accurately articulate the wonderful conversation. DOC: "What can I do for you today?" ME: "I need to get a script for propecia." DOC: "Do you know what propecia is for?" ME: "Yes, its to slow down mpb; I was on it last year but my script ran out" She stands up and physically examines my hair!!! DOC: "Well, I'm not a dermatologist and certainly not a specialist in mpb but I don't really understand why you would want to take a medication like that when you're not showing any signs of mpb as far as I can tell." (You can imagine how elated I felt at that moment ) ME: "Well I'm very happy to hear you say that considering how many thousands of dollars it cost me to have all this hair transplanted." DOC: "What?" I then explained the whole process and then she examined my hair again VERY CLOSELY even hunting for the scar which she had a hard time even finding! Doc: "Wow, I seriously cannot believe that. I've seen transplants before and they looked NOTHING like this." I then explained I might start balding in non-txplanted areas like the crown and didn't want that hence the script. She ended up giving me a script for Avodart so my insurance covers it ($3 copay!!) I'm going to take it every other day for a while and see how it goes. Anyway, just thought you guys might enjoy this story as much as I enjoyed living it. I was VERY happy walking out of there!!

  9. I agree; the difference in my hair now and at even 7 months is drastic. I think I had pretty fast growth overall so at 8 months I was thinking "ok, this is good, I'm happy now". But at 10 1/2 months it is even better so I will wait until about 14 to 16 months to say "ok, NOW I'm happy".
  10. Very nice results Doctor; and I like your philosophy of "no one should notice my work". You're doing a great job.
  11. How old are you? From the pics, you look like an excellent candidate if you are over 30yrs old or so. Being in Portland, you're VERY close to one of the world class level docs in Vancouver at Hasson&Wong. So if you're still not ready, keep researching and start doing some on line consultations; maybe some specific questions that forum members can give clear concise answers to.
  12. Omg, I just laughed out loud and so spontaneously that I woke up my wife. Holy shit that was funny; and so very very true.
  13. I know its annoying to keep hearing "this or that is normal" but it sounds pretty common. At your stage in the game I had the exact same thing. To me it looked almost like the bulbous white follicle itself was bulging out after a shower or wash. Finally I couldn't take it anymore and picked this white bulgy material off and looked at it under a magnifying glass. It turned out to be a waxy, oily substance I'm assuming was a secretion from the skin as part of the healing process; almost like it was strong, thick, congealed grease from coming into contact with the shower water. It stopped after a few weeks as far as I remember.
  14. I believe this is normal. I had several staples that felt wiggly/loose, etc but never had any problem with them. They held the skin together just fine and no widening or anything occurred in those spots.
  15. Kam, yes I would say it does look fuller already. And don't worry about the shock loss at the scar. I remember having a tiny little area that scared me for a few weeks but it grew right back in after that. Man, you had a weird loss pattern huh? That fringe in the front must have driven you nuts.
  16. Now that was smooth........very smooth.....
  17. Yes, I had very tiny growth at 2mos, then starting blooming at 3mos. Are you sure that is 15% minox? That is AWFULLY strong! Seriously, like burn your scalp and give you heart palpitations strong.
  18. No regrets here. The txplant has exceeded my expectations considerably. My hair is getting long, laying down across my forehead; the two huge landing strips in the corners of my forehead are GONE! I know its not as thick as when I was 18 but I'm pretty much the only one who tell. It truly appears as if I never lost any hair due to MPB. Again, looking at pics of when I was 24 / 25 yrs old, I look like I have more hair now because of those stupid Jack Nicholson landing strips. I am one happy sumbitch as if you couldn't tell. No regrets (except that I can't write it off on taxes because we are SOOOOOO getting fisted sans lube this year)
  19. Holy crap! I thought I had a lot of hair; that looks incredible. You were and excellent candidate based on your loss pattern. Phenomenal results!
  20. As for haircut, I shaved mine down with a #2 (very short) the day I got the stitches out (10days)
  21. As stated previously, it all boils down to doing your homework!! There are still thousands of guys who are too damn lazy and careless to really research it themselves, wait until they have ALL the requisite information, and THEN make the decision. Why do I say people are lazy and careless? Because the info is out there!! Ten or fifteen yrs ago that was not the case; people had little to go on other than what the "doctor" told them. Now, all the info is there if you want to have it. Hell, you don't even have to leave your house for crying out loud. Watch a commercial, meet a doctor, then have a transplant a week later and you deserve what you get as far as I am concerned.
  22. Wow, that is awesome; a completely different look! Happy happy joy joy!!
  23. Having wasted 2 yrs of my life trudging around South America trying to "stem the flow of illicit narcotics" as the DoD likes to phrase it, I now know and believe most of it should be no more illegal than whiskey and cigarettes. Horrific waste of time, money and resources. However, I personally have no desire to use drugs. But after that last post by NG2GB, I'm wondering if maybe I'm missing out on something good......
  24. Looks perfect. Balody, that is an excellent picture to give guys an idea of what a one month scar should look like. Good distance from the camera to show relative size and color without hair to cover it up. That pic should be in a "scar scrapbook" on this site somewhere.
