  1. Hey guys, So I'm 1 week out of a HT with Dr. Reed in La Jolla and loving those little scabs. Can't wait for them to grow. Anyways, I have an engagement party I need to be ready for in about 3 weeks and not sure of what to do about my head. My hair is trimmed to about a 3 or 4 right now, so I was thinking of using a concealer like Toppik or Dermatech so it doesn't look so thin in pictures. The other options is a hair piece for the event. Any thoughts on this guys? I'm not too sure how much hair pieces cost for 1 night or how the application might affect by HT. I'd rather use the concealer, but I've heard I need more hair for it to adhere to. So what's the best option for a 1 night hair fullness solution?
  2. I've been lurking around this forum for quite some time and constantly see remarks about other docs like Shapiro, Wong, Hasson, and others. Not too often do I hear much about Dr. Reed, but we should. I am one day out of my HT with Dr. Reed and although I haven't fast forwarded 10 months, the level of care, thoughtfulness, and generosity were amazing. We did a little over 2500 grafts and for a majority of the procedure, I didn't feel a thing and was fully asleep. Even today, I'm not in any discomfort and the donor area seems relaxed, not overtight like it was with my first HT with MHR. Because I developed a bit of a hypertrophic scar with the poor work at MHR, Dr. Reed was a little worried about my ability to have enough donor area for another HT to increase density in my crown. But since my donor area is relaxed right now, he thinks we may have a good shot of another procedure if needed. I'm eager to post results as they occur, but with the amount of detail shown by Dr. Reed, Judy, and the rest of the tech staff, I'm thrilled and would recommend everyone in the So. Cal and west coast to give Dr. Reed a visit. A wonderful man and I couldn't be happier. Thanks guys for all the advice and I look forward to posting results soon.

  4. Hey guys, So I have an appointment with Dr. Reed in La Jolla in January, which I'm really looking forward to. My question is that I have a pretty thick hypertrophic scar from my first HT with MHR and am really hoping to get better results with less scar thickness this time around. Dr. Reed says he will cut out the current scar and additional donor area and inject steroids post op to prevent the same type of scarring from occurring. Are there any other options to consider? I really want to have the ability to buzz cut my hair low in the event I'm disappointed yet again by the regrowth or just because I want a different style. Right now, if I buzz it, the scar is a little too noticeable and eye sore like
  5. Hello guys, First post, but I've been snooping around for a while. Foremost, I've set up an appointment with Dr. Reed in La Jolla in January, but hoping I can get called from the standby list asap. So that's taken care of, but I'm a little nervous. I'm 26, NW6, and had my first surgery at MHR (insert hateful comment here) when I was 23 and it was a really horrible experience. Primarily, I blame myself for not following up on Finasteride and/or Minoxidil, but MHR really left a bad hypertrophic scar at the donor area. Now, amongst my consultations with Dr. Ziering, Rassman, and Reed, all of them are concerned with if I'll have the ability for a 3rd procedure to get the crown denser. My goal is great density up front and good coverage in my crown. Being that my first procedure didn't go very well, I am wondering if it's possible for a hair transplant to go awry. Not grow, etc. I know I have a great doctor booked, but getting a little worried. I don't want to piss 15k away in 2 procedures with crappy results. Any words of wisdom?
