  1. What rationale did he give for this? What Dr. is it? If he can't do it simply because he's not capable, then you had better not use this doctor. Is it because you don't have enough donor hair? What balding class are you; V, VI?
  2. Yes, this is normal; I had the same thing. Some broke off completely and most of the rest simply looked broke/bent right at the scalp. To be totally honest, I got tired of some of it and pulled them out with tweezers at about 1 month post op. When I pulled on it VERY gently, most would just slide right out like a stick in the sand. If it tugged at all, I left it alone.
  3. Sabravo, Good luck tomorrow and congratulations!!! You're going to be very happy you did this! Let us know how everything goes!!
  4. As a complete and absolute non-believer and anti-religion guy myself, I'll withhold comment. However, I did stick a spoon in my sisters forehead when I was 12 (she was 14). I thru it at her from across the room; it hit right at the hairline, penetrated a couple of inches and lodged under the scalp. The memory of that spoon handle bouncing up and down sticking out from under her hair still makes me laugh to this day. But man, did I get the ass beating of a lifetime when pops got home.
  5. I had exactly the same thing and got curious so I put them under a microscope to look at them. It appeared to me the transplanted hairs were VERY dry and the hair itself (not the follicle) had basically broken almost at the scalp level. It had not completely broken in half though so it had a bent appearance.
  6. This is a really good question; one that I asked myself and others prior to my txplant. As of right now (6 months), I am able to style my hair exactly like it used to be before I had balding. In all actuality, it just kinds of styles itself after I brush it out of the shower. I think Dr Hasson did a helluva job figuring out my natural hair pattern when placing all this new hair into balded areas. Right now, I have NO appearance of balding at all: none. Can I style it some other way and say the same thing? I don't know: I was going to get a haircut the other day but said screw it. I'm just going to let it grow to see how things turn out. I want to wear it longer anyway. So, as it continues to grow, mature, etc, I will definitely post as to whether I can wear it however I want.
  7. WAIT A MINUTE!!!!! I have that; but I've been "using" it on my wife!! No wonder she's had to trim up dowm there so often lately!!!!
  8. You might want to research the topical vitamin E thing. I used the oil a few weeks with no problems but someone posted info / study about E oil prolonging healing time or something.
  9. True, although not "numb", the very crown of my head still feels weird when I touch it. Like I touch one spot but feel it in a big circle all around my finger. Very strange. Notgoing, take your time and then DO IT!!
  10. Sweet huh? You sound as giddy as I was when it started to grow. It only gets better. I am at 6 months and seriously, if it didn't get any better than it is right now, I'd still be happy!
  11. Thanks Nell. I'm going to stop fussing about the frizz and just let things continue maturing. You know, I was just looking at someone's surgery photos and it hit me: HOLY SHIT, I DID IT! I actually went through with it; I sat in that chair and let Dr Hasson cut a chunk out of the back of my head, staple my ass back together, poke holes in my bare scalp, stick hairs in them and send me off with some ouchey pills! I almost cannot believe I actually made the plunge. Every time I look in the mirror I am so damn tickled its silly. I am so happy I did it but at the same time its almost like "what? I did what?"
  12. After only 1700 or so grafts total for #'s one and two they couldn't get more than 800 for the 3rd?
  13. But don't they also, on average, have much thicker hair shaft diameter?
  14. Don't forget: your scalp is FULL of tiny little capillary blood vessels. Full. Each time the doctor made an incision, he broke em' up leaving little tiny bloody bruises under the skin. They heal up and repair for months afterwards, leaving that pinkish color. Some are more prone to it than others. It took about 4 or 5 months for mine to go away.
  15. Just put up a couple of 6 month pics. Going back thru ALL of my hair pics on my computer has been painful. My hair looked like real ass before I had the ht. Maybe I'll post a couple of the really yucky ones for you to laugh at! Damn I'm glad I did this!!
  16. Whoisbest, Seriously dude, speak like a grown man should, like you have a pair. Your tap dance around those "concerning issues" is more insulting to "those" people than blatant discrimination. See what I mean? Just take a deep breath, think about what exactly you want to say, and then say it with as much intelligence, respect, and honesty as you can. That way, even if its offensive, people will stand beside you to correct your info versus standing in front of you cursing in disgust at an ignorant dork. This is good advice. Now, slow down, do a few weeks at minimum of research (on more than just hair transplant) and then refine your questions for more accurate help from this board. Good luck. And please understand: we DO WANT TO BE HELPFUL to you!!! We want to help or none of us would even be here. So don't be offended, learn from this. There's a lot great guys on here who will forgive and forget at the drop of a hat when a man stands up to the "oops, my bad" plate. Mike
  17. Good question. I went back thru my hair calender and HUGE file of "hair pics" as they are all dated accurately for me to reference. I have about 2.7 million I think. So here's what is: immediately after doing my 90 pics I buzzed down with a #2 guard that day. Ten days later I took a couple of 100 day pics just to have another reference point. Per my pics, I think 3 things went on in the next 20 days: my preexisting hair grew back up fairly quickly as normal (it grows fast); there really was some massive sprouting of newly transplanted hair, and lastly much of the shockloss came back in at the same time. A lot went on there.
  18. Thanks Gorp. I will try to post pics of the scar when I do my 6 month update this weekend. Its really difficult to take a pic of it so I'll have my wife try again Sat. And Gorp, love the side by side pic. Maybe I'll try that too. You're hairline is truly at the top of the "A" list!
  19. Dude, give it up. This is coming from someone who used to have more skeletons in his closets than Harvard medical school; more guilt on his conscience than anyone should serve themselves in a life time. Soooooo many people have no idea the freedom that comes along with honesty; pure, disciplined, gentle honesty. Granted it takes a lot more balls, but a LOT less effort. Seriously, if you try to duck and dodge on something as insignificant as a HT, you'll end up looking like an insecure dork to her.
  20. You know, if MHR was cheaper than the world class independent docs you can go to, I could understand people maybe trying to get a decent job done from them. But the bastards cost more than even the BEST coalition docs. I just don't get it. You know what I'm going to do! In a few months, once my transplant has grown in more and mellowed out, I'm going into the local MHR for a consult. I want to see if they can realize I've already had work done and what they suggest. Should be interesting!
  21. Mdguy, you can have anyone take out the staples. My wife is an ER nurse and she did mine. Actually, since I'm not far from you, if you don't want a doctors bill for staple / suture removal, she'd be glad to do it for you. Seriously, that's not a joke (she's kind of nice to look at too)
  22. I have heard that name before on this website but I cannot remember what it was about. Have you tried searching it on here? The company itself has a bad rep as do many of its docs (for good reason) BUT that doesn't mean you didn't get a quality transplant! I'm sure there are some good HMR doctors out there. Hopefully Mollura is one of them.
