  1. Should the amount of grafts from the donor strip be consistent from each doctor? That is to say that all the doctors you speak to should all have the same # of maximum amount of grafts they can get from a strip based on your hair density?
  2. Hiya, I just came acroos this thread. I was told in college to use a gelatin called Knox gel (it's Jello). It's about 1.50 for a small package. you mix just a bit of a packet in warm water in the morning and you drink it. It makes your hair and nails grow faster (it doesn't REGROW hair). I've use it on and off for a few years. there's no harm and it's very cheap and it does seem to work. You do notice a difference in a couple of months.
  3. This may sound stupid but.. If you can explain that you are having A surgery of some sort on your head without saying it's a hair transplant. Maybe start complaining a few weeks before that you have a cyst on your scalp. Don't complain too much. Then maybe explain to your boss that you have to have it removed and it's not gonna look too pretty and would it be O.K. if you wore a hat until maybe it heals a bit.Ten days at the most. Then try to come up with a makeup coverup after that. Maybe even wear a bandage. It's deceptive, I know. I can understand though why a guy (or a girl) wouldn't want people to know they have had a HT. If you walked in to work the day after a transplant I think they would almost demand you wear a hat. Or take some time off.: ) The day after my HT my head looked like it had a Lava flow on it. What I did was I started wearing a baseball cap a few weeks prior to my surgery. I made it like it was my new "look". So far nobody has really asked at all if I had anything done. It's psychological. I warned you it might sound stupid, but it did work. I hope this helps you.
  4. Did you digitally sharpen those pictures for any reason? That might make it look worse. Just askin'.
  5. I have been on two courses of accutane. You should not have any type of plastic surgery ( I think HT's should fall into that category) for at least six months before or after.
  6. I really does work. It just makes your nails and hair grow faster. I notice a difference on my transplant area. The few ones that didn't fall out due to shock have grown quite a bit faster. It's hard to notice I guess.
  7. When I was in college for music a professor told me to start using Knox Gel. It's unflavored gelatin. It comes in 1.99 boxes with about 3 or 4 packs of powdered gelatin. The reason was it makes your nails AND your hair grow faster. It does not re-grow hair, but it does make what hair you do have grow faster. You might find this useful if you are just coming out of a HT. You simply pour some (not much, just a half a teaspoon at the most) into some hot water or your morning coffe or whatever, stir and drink. Do this twice a day. I thought this might be helpful.
  8. Retin-A is not Rogaine/minoxidil Retin-A came out in the late 80's and is usually in gel or creame form and it's used for Acne and wrinkles. It didn't help me in that area. I believe it acts like collegen in the skin and it opens up the pores. Anyway a couple of doctors notice when it was added to minoxidil it increased the effectivness of it quite a bit. They add powdered Retin-A to a bottle and you use just as you would with regular Rogaine. You should maybe look up Retin-A on wikipedia or something. Here's that doctor advertising it on his webpage. http://www.drkoreenlaser.com/ He charges me $30.00 so I don't know what's up with the price he has there. I send him the bottle I purchase so maybe he's talking about pre-mixed bottles. I started using it in like 92 at the doctors suggestion and it worked great. I got lazy and I just starting using Rogaine without it and I lost quite a bit of hair. I started using it again but it was too late. It's stupidity on my part.
  9. Minoxidil will work in the front area of the head if powdered Retin-A is added. That worked for me great when I started to go bald. I mail it to my doctor (dermatologist) and he mails it back to me for about 30 dollars. I still do it. I say it "worked" because when it brought back all my hair I thought I could save money and just maintenence it by just using minoxidil, surpise, surprise - it didn't. a year later I had lost a lot of hair and it was too late. This was 15 years ago. I'm only telling this because I can't speak for the long term effectivness of using Rogaine w/Retin-A added. But it did work great for me. I'll give you my docs website and number if you are interested, but you may have to make an appointment first. So, if you live far away... Well, you know. I hope this helps.
  10. I'm having the same problem. I am five weeks after surgery and it's still red. Where can I read about Tricomin spray? Also, a lot of the new grafts haven't fallen out. Is this normal or a bad sign?
  11. I banged my head a day ago. I was wearing a hat when it happened. It was in the area where I had my transplants. There is now a red spot where I banged it and there is conspicuously no hair (it's red and raw). I haven't found any lost grafts(and I looked for them.) What do you guys think? Any danger? It's been three weeks since my procedure.

  13. I've been on two courses of Accutane. It stops the production of sebum in the skin to make acne cysts go away. It also makes your pores smaller. I think it may have exacerbated my MPB. Get off Accutane for 6 months before you have the HT or any other Aesthetic surgery.
  14. I would never know you had a transplant if you hadn't told me. That's fabulous work. I hope mine comes out with the same aesthetic results.
