  1. Not to mention, that not everyone will shed when starting propecia.
  2. I've been on Propecia for about 7 weeks now and within the first month I noticed a big difference. No I didn't wake up and have a full head of hear, but the amount that was coming out was greatly reduced. I've got long hair and it's pretty damn easy and disconcerting to see a large amount in the drain of the shower, but now it's a few hairs and nothing more. I'm hoping it'll regrow the hair that's gone missing, and having seen such noticable results, frankly I could kick myself for not staying on it 5 years ago after my first (and only to date) transplant. Oh and no adverse side effects to speak of. Aside from wanting to kick myself that is. lol
  3. I thought this was leading up to a "men are pigs" joke. lol Since it seems I'm not getting a joke (Ms Piggy does always make me chuckle though), I think the OP was saying that the pig would "learn" to grow human hair? Therefore yeilding a large supply to give back to the donor?
  4. Well, from what I can tell everyone bashes all Bosley and MHR locations, and frankly I don't think it's unfounded. However, there may be some locations with doctors who are quite skilled. One of the rules of thumb that usually doesn't apply with doctors, does with Bosley and MHR, that being price. Their prices are typically much higher than those of the elite surgeons on this board. They do offer special deals, or in the sales pitch they'll cut you a break, because you're such a great guy, or they're running a special if you book your surgery today, etc. Price shouldn't be the main focus, but if you can have filet mignon for as much or less than hamburger, I'm going with the filet. Use the search function on this board, talk to people here, ask whatever you want, and in the end I think you'll see, that going with a coalition doctor is the way to go. It's certainly the route I'll be taking soon as I narrow it down a bit more. And while some folks here seem to talk poorly about Bosley and MHR, based on what they've heard, without any first hand experience, I had my first HT done at MHR. I didn't think it was a terrible experience, but now that I'm ready for a second, some of my concerns I had from the first, don't seem to be typical and I'd never go back to MHR or Bosley. There's no point, when there are so many gifted doctors who truly do great work. So, take a look around at the site, the guys photo albums and I think you'll agree. If not, well I certainly wish you luck at Bosley and keep us updated.
  5. Unless you're really serious I don't see a problem as I already stated, but worse case scenario, if you are serious and she does love you, etc, etc. You could end up with the response I got, "well if you're having some hair added, why can't I get my boobs bigger." lol She's got no clue I had one surgery a few years back (was only dating her on and off then), and well I keep my hairloss fairly well hidden now (or does everyone think that? lol). So it could effect you adversely financially to tell her, because she might want bigger boobs. Keep that in mind! lol
  6. Hmm I'm not sure if it would work, but don't let any women touch your hair. There's a warning at least on Propecia, that women shouldn't touch a broken pill (or maybe it's touch them in general).
  7. Congrats on having your surgery. If Gorpy's results are any indicator, I'm sure you'll be thrilled. Looks as though Dr. Keene does excellent work. Did she shave the recipient area for such a large session?
  8. While I wouldn't go to a doctor who requires shaving of the recipient area, I can definitely see a few advantages. Mainly it would be much easier for the doctor to work with, if he's not constantly having to come hair out of the way and for the patient I would imagine there would be no shock loss. You can't lose what's already been shaved away. If my hair wasn't long, I'd definitely be up for shaving the donor area. Unfortunately or fortunately, I wear it long and it still looks pretty good and I can "hide" the loss for now, so it would be really odd to going from what appears to be a fairly full head of hair to, shaved down and somewhat balding. If you wear your hair very short anyway, and it's not a work issue, I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to go that route if it makes the doctor's job easier and can possibly produce better results or a larger transplant.
  9. I'd be willing to be he didn't see a coalition doctor but instead went to MHR or Bosley. He could also be very young and perhaps they felt doing the front made more sense. I'm looking forward to see who said this and why.
  10. Shaved heads are very "in" for people now. Not sure how your head will look with it, but you could always try that, while still doing the rogaine, propecia thing. If you need an excuse to shave your head, take Jiu Jitsu. lol Great workout and shaved heads are very common.
  11. They definitely make sense, but 1hr a day working your scalp is a heck of a long time. Do you guys do it for the full 30 mins for both side and back?
  12. lol I sure wouldn't blame God for hairloss, mine or anyone else's, but I think you guys are maybe focusing on the F-Him part. I could be wrong, but I took what want hairs to mean was, that he didn't feel God had anything to do with it, because why would he select a few to have such an unfortunate thing happen to them. It certainly wouldn't be very Christian of him. Plus, lets be honest, I think the big G has better things to do than make this guy bald, but not that guy. I also think that while harsh, he should be allowed to say what he wishes, as long as it's not a blatant plug for something. Now, if he had finished up his post with, "this message brought to you by Anton LeVey" then maybe it should be edited. lol
  13. lol I've got long hair, and it still works nicely for strip clubs, and in my sport of BJJ and MMA. Although to be honest, it's kind of a pain in the ass when grappling. I've gotten chunks of it ripped out before. Think it mainly just depends on how you wear it long, if it looks any good, and your personal style, etc. In my case, because I'm not really, really bald, it does in fact help to hide the thinning, and I plan on having a second surgery here soon, so as it won't be an issue. I definitely don't want to be "that guy" who's bald but still has a ponytail of the sides and back. That's just not a real flattering look for anyone.
  14. Well it's been a while since this thread was really active, how's Ringo's hair looking now? On the subject of MHR, I had my first (and only to date) surgery there a few years ago. Here are some things that concerned me. 1) I'm a pretty big guy, my surgeon who I don't remember his name for the life of me sorry, instead of 1 valium gave me two. Not so bad, but definitely knocked me loopy. 2) I thought he was performing the surgery, since i selected him and paid for him to do it, but in my groggy state he informed me some doctor from Guatamala or something would be working with him, to learn the latest techniques? WTF? I didn't pay to be a guinea pig. 3) At one point I was taken out of the surgery room and put in another room where a tech was putting in the implants, unsupervised. I asked her how long she'd been there, it was her FIRST or Second day. Can't remember which. That definitely freaked me out. But this ws 5 yrs or so ago and I didn't know about this board, etc. 4) I'm not real happy with the scar, as I can actually feel it. Is it possible when I go in for a second surgery at a coalition doctor, that in the strip they take out, they can take the old scar as well?
  15. Michael, thanks for letting me know how to get to your pics. Definitely some nice work done there! No wonder you're always telling everyone about your doc! I'm definitely impressed.
