  1. How funny you should bring this up now. I was just speaking to one of the surgeons my wife works with about the exact same question. He explained that no, the natural "pores" are not formed around transplanted hair follicles from the incisions. The new hair has to break through just like grass growing through concrete. Eventually, as the hair grows and matures, a more normal "pore" does develop simply out of necessity, but it just takes a little time.
  2. Yeah, whatever....screw you guys... Sorry I couldn't resist. (my kids say I'm not funny but what do they know!) I seldom come along for the long debates but I have however been less than diplomatic in a few instances. I just have NO patience for stupid. So many times guys come on here and are so damn silly it makes me want to scream. I'm learning to just shut up and mind my own. Promise.
  3. wow.....once again I'm having to bite my tongue and abstain from commenting on the entire nature of this post from patient education right up to the er visit. You more patient and experienced posters can surely help this fellow out. I'm sorry but I sometimes just can't get over the absolute....never mind. Take it away patient helpful guys.
  4. Well, I got out the wifes new cam and took some super high quality shots of the entire txplanted area. Zooming in, I found a couple of 2's that are actually just behind the hairline, maybe a half centimeter. But its still hard to tell exact distance since I'm only 90 days out. No 3's thank goodness. I did figure out why it looks weird though: the hairs are much thicker than most of the native hairs! Like twice as thick than some of the old wispies still hanging on for life. Two of them sprouting very close to each other looks funky right now but I'm guessing that will go away once all of it grows in and relaxes?
  5. Scooter, thanks for the info. It will be very, very interesting to follow your progress; I really hope you can hang with us here in the forum long term to see the outcome of your procedure. As you may know from lurking here, the "chain restaurant" hair transplant companies have a tremendously poor reputation and it is discussed here from time to time. They are often VERY experienced in the hair transplant BUSINESS, but that seldom translates into them having experienced and talented surgeons using the most current methods. Your situation will assuredly be an interesting thread to follow over the next few months for that and many other reasons. Again, I really hope you can tough it out and hang here with us. Welcome and hope to see you here often. Here's your first question: You said your donor hair was very good; why were you guys only shooting for 1800? That is a relatively smaller amount of grafts for a N5.
  6. Dang it! I apparently need to work on my cryptological skills. I remember back in high school I would write girls phone numbers down in hexi-decimal or binary code to keep the current girl from knowing what it was. Thought I was oh so slick. What a dork. Here's a thread jacking question: I am noticing a couple of possible "oopsies" in my hairline in the way of a couple of 2 or 3 hair grafts. Think they'll be terribly noticeable once grown in? Like mini / micros?
  7. Congratulations! It appears to be good work off hand; where did you hear of this Doc? How do you feel about the surgery and the doc/staff/etc?
  8. Are you referring to Felix Unger? I heard he has a room mate who is really uptight and the two of them have a quirky comical relationship that would be great for a 70's sitcom. Not helpful or funny huh? sorry, just trying to enjoy my morning. Seriously, I've heard this Dr. mentioned before but don't recall in what light. Have you tried running a search on the forum?
  9. Yes; that quote suffixes a statement about the fact she DID do those things.
  10. Yeah, me too. I am about 95 days or so and some hairs are starting to grow along with the grafts that never fell out post op. I knew that AS SOON as I realized it was starting to grow I was going to become obsessed every day. That started about 2 weeks ago; but, the last couple of days I've been able to mellow out and stop playing at the mirror every 20 minutes. Time has gone by quickly but if I obsess about it, I'll get that "time standing still" feeling and go crazy.
  11. the hell with that.....I seem to remember a certain unofficial graft calculator's wife being tremendously endowed with a certain "presence" that would directly fulfill said needed "round card carrying ring girl presence". Was that cryptic enough? I don't need Gorp flyin' out here to smack me in the melon you know; gotta be cryptic.
  12. Never heard of anyone having this problem. Seriously. Never. Can or does it happen? Who knows. I do know if it were even SLIGHTLY prevalent, EVERYONE would know about it and it would NEVER have had any success in the male population as an effective drug. Period.
  13. NoBuzz, as usual, you're right again. My apologies Andy. I guess I was just really shocked and for the life of me I just cannot begin to comprehend the rhyme nor reason. But, regardless, this is not about that; it is about using HT to cover/repair damage. My wife had a small tattoo removed via laser a couple of years ago. It cost a fortune and was painful but the Dr. did an incredible job; tattoo gone and almost no visible blemish to the skin. My concern were I you would be the damage said laser may cause to surrounding hair follicles. Would it work like laser hair removal?? If it does, you may need more than 1400 grafts? If you do a HT without having the tattoo removed, it may easily appear as a rigidly thick unnatural hairline because of the dark slice of skin under the hairline edge. ?
  14. Finnari!!!!!!!!! Did I miss your post somewhere else?? You just had surgery with Dr. Keene man and your first post-op post is about the hotel??!! Come on man! Let's hear it.
  15. Wait, let me get this straight. You tattooed your hairline? There was no one around, not even the tattoo artist, who thought maybe that was NOT a good idea and had the balls to speak up? You tattooed your hairline? Yes, well.....good luck with that.
  16. DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT!! I remember this thread from back in November. That sucks, man. Really sorry for you. If you were one of my son's, I would use this as a "never fail to listen closely" club over the head life lesson. But, you ain't, so I won't. Hopefully, you have enough donor hair to get it fixed. If you do, it CAN be fixed to an excellent standard with the RIGHT doctor...........DAMN IT!
  17. Hey guys! Yeah, things are happening. I have quite a few of the 1 hair grafts growing along the hairline. They are maybe 2 or 3 mm's and very fine. I'm having a blast watching my hair come back!! good luck to you guys as well!
  18. As long as it comes from a reputable manufacturer, there is no difference whatsoever.
  19. I updated my album and shrunk the pics down really small so they should be quick loading. I'm at 90 days today. Haven't buzzed my head in a couple of weeks. I didn't think I had any growth at all but my wife says I'm wrong. Looking at the day 42 pics, I guess maybe I do already have a little growth. The next 2 or 3 months will hopefully be better. I'm getting excited! (ignore the 2004 dates on the pic; I'll have to get my 12 yr old daughter to fix that )
  20. Wow Gorpy, that looks awesome. Your hairline has got to be one of the absolute best I have ever seen. Its shaped perfectly, has a completely natural density and softness, and just looks perfectly age appropriate for your facial structure. Very happy for ya!
  21. Awesome; I just used that calculator. I set it to cover areas 1-4 at 45 on the scale and it came up to 4300 grafts. I have 4950 grafts so I should be happy here in a couple more months.
  22. Huh? The only reference I've ever heard to this would be Dr. Keene doing a 2 day surgery thing. Nothing like what you've mentioned though. Can you reference the thread you're speaking of?
  23. At 3 months, swimming is not a problem at all for you now. However, as Aquarius mentions, do NOT get a sunburn on your head. At 3 months, it won't hurt the grafts as it might have at 3 weeks, but Dr. Hasson told me it can promote much slower growth. So, be careful.
  24. A VERY SMALL percentage of men have the "sexual side effects". Very small. Personally, I think guys read it and go mental and suddenly many are "experiencing" it. The first time I was about to have a 3'some with two girls, I couldn't get an erection to save my life. Seriously, it WAS NOT about to do its job; it just laid there like an inanimate object no matter what. Was it broken? No, it was simply all mental; period. Just stop worrying and put it out of your mind. If you focus on that worry, you'll fool yourself into thinking its killing you.
