  1. Well, like I said I was going to a few weeks ago, I finally retired Friday! Oh happy day! My wife surprised me with a limo and dinner with friends. Now I just have to get moving on the HT! Hey Gorpy, how are things going?
  2. Doctor, thanks so much for your time and input! Very much appreciated!
  3. Hey guys, need some experienced input here. I am about to start propecia. Supposedly it not only stops hair loss but also can make the skinny little sad hairs that haven't fallen out yet thicker and more like they're supposed to be. Anyone have experience with this? If that actually works, I may not even need a transplant that soon.
  4. So you went from what I look like to continued progression to being a NW5? How long did that take? From what age to what age? I saw some of your earlier posts about "plant all you can" and that's what I wanted to do. But, most consults are recommending only around 1400-1600 graphs; so there's a predicament. they are saying I still have so much hair that they wouldn't want to "cram" too much more into my existing hair. So, I have a couple of choices: 1) just wait a few more yrs until a lot more is gone and have a larger HT and be done with it; or 2) start propecia to hopefully stop anymore from falling out and get a smaller HT now but be on meds for a long time. I will most likely go with #2 because I am young and narcisistic and want more hair NOW. What do ya think?
  5. Hey Gorpy, I have a couple questions for you concerning Dr. Keene: how was her manner/demeanor in person? Was she personable/ friendly/ standoffish? Did she spend what you felt was a reasonable amount of time evaluating you and the whole treatment plan? Basically did she give you overall "warm fuzzies" as the Dr. that you really really wanted to do the procedure?
  6. Man, that has to suck! So, how did it go? People are still shocked when men want to do something like this to make them happier about their own appearance. Its all ok for women, but not us. Everbody says "stop sitting around getting fat and watching football, and be more sensative and communicative". Then we do something like this and everybody is shocked by it. BTW, I don't watch football and I'm not fat so but you know what I mean....
  7. Well, let me clarify: I'm retiring from the military after 20yrs service. My retirement pay will only be a couple thousand dollars a month; not enough to live on. My wife has an excellent income though so I plan to take a couple yrs off and then go back to work when kids are a little older. That's why it would be a good time to do the HT.
  8. That sounds like a good plan. And your right; there is a line forming right wear my hair changes direction in the front. For years I just had the Jack Nicolson temples with plenty in the middle. Then last year I noticed a distinct line separating the very front from the middle; that's right where my hair goes from angled slightly upward/foward to completely forward (also there's a silly lump shape across my skull from side to side). I have always had very straight slightly thin/fine hair. I retire soon and REALLY would like to wear it longer. I think a yr on the med and then a HT will work out well (I hope). Maybe that'll give me time to find out who "Dad" is...LOL. Oh, btw; what is my NW class? 4?
  9. Thanks, I agree. I want my hair now, not later! I am going to try and get a script for propecia soon. As far as family history goes, its hard to say. There is no MPB on mom's side; all those guys had Ronald Reagan hairlines last time I saw them about 25 yrs ago and they were all in their 50's and 60's. Not sure about Dad's side. Funny story: my father and his father were both NW7 by the time they were 30. Very rapid and profuse hairloss. So I figured mine would be the same. Well, my younger brother (34yrs old) followed them almost exactly; he has almost no hair left. Curious huh? All the comments growing up about how my sister and brother look alike AND look just like my dad and I didn't "fit in the picture" resemblance wise. Well, at the ripe old age of 38, I finally found out he's not my biologicle father. Is that ridiculos or what? You would think I would have put it together a little earlier in life you know? Anyway, not sure who dad is or how slick his head is. Would be nice to know for medical reasons though. With my luck he was fine until he hit forty and then lost it all overnight! I'll let you know on my birthday LOL!
  10. From my reading, I'm interpreting that since I am already 39 and still have as much hair as I do, I probably won't go all the way to a NW 6 or 7? I know nothing's impossible, but the odds are with me on this right? What are your opinions?

  12. Thanks Gorp. I am trying to do some picture/net consults with some different docs. Dr. Bernstein just wrote back that he thinks 1400 now would be good and them maybe more a year later. But, I kind of want to be done as much as possible in one setting. Or maybe one bigger one now and smaller one a few years later? I don't know. I do know I need to get a prescription for that propecia stuff.. I am a little worried about the possible "limpy worm" side effects though. I have a really hot younger wife who loves sex (a lot). Maybe I'll get prescibed propecia AND viagra! Anybody know if they interact badly?
  13. Hey Gorpy, I just realized you were the one doing business with Dr. Keene. If you don't mind, I'm going to leach onto your every post for the next few months and live vicariously! I'm getting the feeling she may be the one for me even though I live in Maryland. Your hair type and pattern really resemble mine I think so all the better for me to watch you progress (don't get creeped out on me now) I am 39 yrs old now; was your hairloss anything like mine at that age?
  14. I'll bite too; why not? Anybody? See how confusing this can be LOL!
  15. That is one horrid story; from the past.... Really, with all the info out there now and each person's ability to really research and know the facts, hell, even the medical facts are easy to find now, there is no reason for someone to fall prey to this kind of practice anymore. If someone has this experience recently, he would be the laziest moron in the world who was too stupid to do the leg work. The truth about almost ant subject you can think of is getting harder and harder to hide from common knowledge.
  16. Thanks for the response. Kind of nice to actually talk about it with other guys instead of just pissing about it to my mirror! I have got to start that medicine.
  17. Godd candidate for propecia or HT? Gimme some input
  18. I am 39 yrs old; not sure how much balder I'll get. Can't go from family history since I don't know it. See how I'm really only balding in the front (as far as I can tell anyway). Its starting to piss me off now when I see pictures. I look fine from the front but the receeding temples have gotten bad. Should I take propecia? I keep reading it might not help at all since I'm balding in the front? Do you guys think I might be a good candidate for a HT? I'm hoping so since I'm already almost 40 and still have some up top. What do you think?
