  1. Wanthairs recently pointed out a publication by Dr. Rassman in which he states that a hair transplant may accelerate the balding process. He was given this advice to an 18 year old, but nonetheless is this applicable to everyone? Has anyone heard about this before? It is in his response to the question "Im 18 and want a lower hairline" in the following link: http://www.baldingblog.com/ This would be extremely counterproductive for anyone who is not completelly bald yet. Any thougths?
  2. aviran: I thought FULL maturation was not reached until 18 months. was that the max # of grafts you could take? just curious.
  3. NN: thanks. You mentioned that you stopped taking it for six months and didnt really see any difference, this is precisely why Im asking these questions. It seems that most guys just assume its working (and Im sure it does on some) but if one is assuming it is halting or stopping the loss, then I wonder how do they even know? Unless your hairloss is extremely rapid (which mine is not) then you wouldnt know what its doing, if anything, for many years. In my case I would say at least 5-8 years, since I havent really noticed a significant loss in my hair in the past 5-8 years. Long term sides: what are they?
  4. is there ANYONE on here who has 80grafts per square cm? Thats insanely dense, isn't it? I thought the most Ive read of was 70. It would be really nice if all of the docs gave this detailed of an account of each patient (i.e. not only total # of grafts, but how many per square centimeter in each section of the head). I think that would really help people gain insight as to why there is such a discrepency in results among the photos on the doctors pages.Individual characteristics not withstanding. A ht is not a cheap investment and I think everyone should have the ability to know precisely what has been done. Do most docs tell you this info upon request?
  5. Gloc, I just saw your photos. What a transformation! Looks great man.
  6. From my understanding the doctors "STRONGLY" recommend it. But I would like to hear from people who have actually had a ht as I have not.
  7. Time, did you have much hair native hair prior to the procedure? Im just wondering if it is taking that long for the hair that was possibly shocklossed to grow in too.
  8. One more thing: Im really torn if I should go through with a ht at this point. On the one hand I have ok coverage. Dont get me wrong, Im not really happy with it, but Im not "bald" yet and dont have to do the combover thing. But I do have to comb my hair forward or else too much scalp shows. On the other hand, Ive seen guys go from totally bald to having more hair than me. I know I will absolutely hate it when I go bald and I really dont want to wait to that point. I guess I lean towards getting a hair transplant for both of those reasons: (i) I know Im eventually going to do something about it. (ii) and, if I am, why not do it now so I can improve my current situation. My biggest concern is that I have found (only) two people who were unhappy or somewhat dissapointed with the results they got from the doctor I want to go to. But, I dont think there is ANY doctor who has not had at least one complaint from someone, right? Question for those of you who have had ht: if you go to a top coalition doc, then at the consulation are they able to tell you what kind of results you can realistically expect given your characteristics? I would think its strictly an empirical matter: your hair characteristics, scalp laxity, # of grafts you have available, and how much coverage you need. Right? I only ask because some of the patients on the webpages turn out with such FANTASTIC results and Im wondering if the doctor will be able to pick out a patient from his catolog of photos and say..."there, he has your characteristics and this is what you can expect to achieve"... does it work like this?
  9. BeHappy, thanks alot for all of your input. I think that is excellent advice. Im perfectly happy with not having an 18 year old hairline or anything close to it. Actually, Ive been living with a widows peak for so long I dont think I would be cofterable bringing the hairline too low. It just wouldn't feel like "me". Im 28 years old. That is one reason why Im not jumping into this. Although I wouldnt mind a relatively higher hairline, I must admit I would like it do be as dense as possible. I wouldnt like it if there was TOO much scalp showing at the line. BeHappy, in rhetrospect Im sure you would agree that most of the loss you experienced in the donor area and even the transplanted hair itself was probabaly due to the excessive surgery the quack doc performed on you. Right? I could only imagine that all of those surgeries combined and in such a short time would have caused massive scarring and resulted in permanent hairloss. If you feel otherwise, please let me know as I would like to know your real thoughts on this matter. If you think you merely lost it because the so called "safe zone" ended up balding too, then Id like to know. I really feel for you with that horrible experience. Have you ever consulted with a new doctor? How are you handling your situation? Best of luck and thank you for all of your advice.
  10. Aviran: its come in quite nicely and you still have another 10 months to reach maturation. Was 3030 grafts the max you could get? Could you post a before picture again?
  11. just out of curiosity from someon who has never had a ht before: how do you know you have lost all of your native hairs? are the transplanted hairs of a completelly different texture? And, of course you have had a huge transformation, that goes without saying. Im only asking about the "without flash" photos, as you pointed out to me recently how significant this can change the overall picture for better and for worse. Glad to see your new pictures and to hear your happy with your results.
  12. Bill, looks good. If I remember correctly, your last ht was kind of sprinkled all over right? Are you going to take some additional photos without flash to give a better idea of the overall look? Are you happy with the results?
  13. Nobuzz, did you read this entire thread: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=145450 I got a kick outa this one.
  14. Bill, thanks for the transcript it was educational. But, it looks like youve got a better shot of Ron Jeremy losing a hard on before getting a question answered. Its a zoo with everyone interupting one another. Regardless, it is really intriguing to see the docs' getting in on the question and answers. I think Nervous Nelly pointed out that it would be somewhat more beneficial if it was conducted in a more formal fashion.
  15. hairdini, thats good. sounds like you have had minimal loss, and from what you have posted, are happy with your results. Ive never had a ht. Did your doc strongly recommend you stay on propecia after your ht? Five months is not that long ago. Your already happy with your results? thats good news as it can only get better from here on out. So your planning on discontinuing the use of propecia altogether? You didnt experience any of the other typical sexual side effects (i.e. impotence, lack of libido?)...I was considering taking it STRICTLY for the lack of libido aspect. My horniness has gotten me in ALOT of trouble lately... appreciate the input. just trying to gather as much info as possible.
  16. Nobuzz, I already have a patent on this product you son of a bitch!!! Ive been selling bottles of recycled cum/ proscar for years now!!! US patent#69...
  17. Bill, are you going to update your photos from Dr.H or keep everyone in suspense? As you can see from my picture, Im no longer in need of a ht as the laser comb has been working wonderfully for me. Not only do I have enough hair to cover MY head, but many women have approached me as they would like to make a weave out of my hair for their OWN heads. Best of both worlds. I get head and so do the ladies...
  18. Hairdini, thanks for your input. Just out of curiosity how old are you? What is your hairloss situation, meaining what age did you notice loss, was it rapid / slow, what is the current extent of it. What are the details of your ht: doc, how long ago, # of grafts?
  19. Mrjb, without discounting Hairdini at all (whom I would like to hear from again) I agree with you. I believe sometimes its: (i) a pshycological issue (i.e. one is so paranoid about taking the medication that they have a psychosomatic response in which their mind is telling their body something is wrong and as a result something feels wrong); or (ii) causation / correlation: just because one event preceeds another does not mean that it is the cause of the latter event. Regardless, I would like to hear as much information from as many individuals as possible. Hell, maybe I fall into one of the two afore mentioned categories and that is why I havent taken propecia yet. I would especially like to hear more autobiographical info from the individuals (such as hairdini) who have such atypical results.
  20. From my understanding the projected max# of grafts an average head can bare varies from doc to doc. Some docs claim way higher numbers can be taken than others and there is some controversy over this. Hasson & Wong, for example have patients whom they have succesfully extracted and transplanted over 10K grafts over two sessions. Some people debate over whether or not they are subdividing the grafts (i.e. cutting up naturally occuring grafts of 2's and 3's into 1's in order to reach these outstanding numbers). Personally, I look at their results and am blown away. To me it looks like they really are moving those numbers of grafts as the coverage and density appears to be phenomenal. Of course there are variables that are relative to each individual as well, such as: (i) hair density (ii) scalp laxity caucasions have (on average) greater density than those of their Asian counterparts. One other consideration is when one extracts that many grafts, in some cases, they are left with a less than favorable scar as opposed to be ing more conservative. But, hell if it comes down to a scar on the back of my head (which can be covered) or hair on the top of my head; Im going for the latter. My thoughts anyway...
  21. do you think thats real? I dont know. Why would NC let these kind of pictures get out? they look like family photos of him eating breakfast. Did yoiu guys see this: http://hair-restoration-info.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/256...131009932#5131009932 The word on the plug pages is that he went to Armani (or Amani?)... What about Mathew Mccoghnehe? http://www.thesmokinggun.com/mugshots/mcconaugheymug1.html http://www.imdb.com/gallery/granitz/2928/Events/2928/Ma...Conaughey,%20Matthew here is the link with the whole story from the hair website: http://www.baldingblog.com/2005/12/20/matthew-mcconaugh...nd-hair-transplants/ With actors and Hollywood, who knows? With all of the make up, lighting, and camera effects, the director only lets you see what HE wants you to see. But, in Mcghonehes' case it does look like he might have had work done and in the Indian actors case he openly admits it. Gives me hope.
