  1. do you think a good doc would be able to assess the extent of the minitirization (in my case) and thereby be able to reasonably project how much permanent shockloss I might expect if they transplanted in that area; or is it pretty unpredictable? I just do NOT want to go through the entire process of a hair transplant and then end up having almost the same amount of coverage.
  2. Man, sorry to hear about all of this. had you not heard of this site prior to your last surgery? have you checked out any of the coalition docs recommended on this site? many of them have dozens of pictures of proven consistent results on a wide array of patients, repair work notwithstanding.
  3. I just read some posts about cases where the transplanted hairs fell out years later as the patient grew older. So what do docs say about this? All these guys who undergo hts' might one day go bald again and have a scar in the back of their head?

  5. wanthairs: was he juggling six midgets atop a fire breating camel at the same time?
  6. thanks Mrjb. Its just for the most part the online pics arent really comperable to my hairloss. my hairline recedes in a v shape and is thin on top, but still pretty good coverage. I asked this question because probably my single biggest concern is shockloss. The hair on top of my head is obviously undergoing miniturization, so Im unsure how much I will keep if I have work done in that area.
  7. this sounds like a REALLY crazy story to say the least...masking tape, goggles,...what? who was your doc? Dr. Berg? is that his full name?
  8. Is thickening out a thinning area common practice among most coalition docs? I ask because most of the docs' webpages show hairloss that is not comperable to mine. Most of the patients recipient area is almost completelly bald.

  10. this is a fucking weird thread to say the least! whoisthebest: no one is giving you a DIRECT answer because the question is incapable of having a truth value. Its like asking who is the sexiest girl in the world? Its a matter of opinion. One guy might say Jessica Alba (that one guy being me! fuck! that honey blonde hair, flawless carmel skin, doll face and slinky body without an ounce of fat anywhere to be seen to the naked eye! Mmmm....anyway, where was I? ) and another guy would say his girlfriend. Check out the "coalition doctors" on this site, as they are reviewed by everyone and have to meet certain standards (and keep them) in order to achieve coalition status. Personally, Im very impressed with the work coming out of Hasson&Wongs' office in Canada. Research this site with an obsession to death (you know like your obsession with catching diseases) then ask some more questions and research more, until YOUR satisfied with the decision you make. As far as your concern about diseases goes: are you a hypochondriac? Seriously, I mean Ive just gotta take a shot here. Do you carry a portable HIV test to every doctor appointment you go to and test the doc yourself? Do you eat out in restaraunts? If the chances of catching a life threatining disease was as common as your fear believes it to be, then we would all be dying. Chill out on the disease catching scenarios. Best of Luck...now, back to my Jessica Alba thinking.
  11. I dont see how that would be possible if you didn't have any transplants in that area, like you said. So, its probably just thinning. Who was your doc?
  12. SA, did you ever post pics? I dont recall seeing them anywhere before. I just started using rogaine in the crown. I dont mind using it back there, but I do mind putting it on the top as it changes the texture.
  13. SA, thanks. Yeah Ive done my share of research on here and haven't seen any other complaints like the above mentioned from a coalition doc. But, nonetheless its pretty concerning. If I get one done Ill probably go to H&W. I was going to try propecia but I recently found a website called propeciahelp (or something like that) and read nothing but horror stories from guys that said they had PERMANENT sexual sides effects from it. So, Im not sure if ill be trying it. hows your experience with propecia? did your doc shave the recipient area?
  14. I recently read a post in which someone stated they had surgery by Dr. Bernstein and experienced more permanent shockloss then they did growth. The poster said he had more hair BEFORE surgery than after. This was 16 months after surgery. The doctor told him his case was atypical, but I thought NONE of the coalition dr.s' had results like this? Almost none of the transplanted hair grew in and he experienced significant permanent shockloss!? How common is this? Even if it is only in 10% of the patients performed by excellent doctors, it makes me seriously question having a ht. Does anyone know WHY or how OFTEN transplanted hairs just wont grow in?

  16. I know alot of guys on here take propecia (as I have read the posts) and I was considering taking it. But, I recently read a post where this guy showed a propeciahelp forum and I read about alot of guys who had serious sexual side effects even after discontinuing use. Some guys complained that they: went limp, others were numb downstairs, couldn't enjoy an orgasm, one even went so far to say that keeping your hair isn't worth being castrated. Are these cases extremely rare? Has anyone ever heard of someone having permanent side effects from propecia? After only five minutes of reading that webpage, there is no way Im risking my sex life over the possibility of slowing my hairloss. Any thoughts?

  18. Unidel, man I was considering propecia but not after checking out that link! SHIT! Thats crazy! I had no idea that ANYONE experienced those type of side effects MONTHS after discontinuing use!!! It sounds like some of those guys had permanent side effects!!! Im really glad you posted that. Thanks. Your hairloss: its really not that bad. I know at 23 ANY hairloss bothers you, but I dont think it looks that bad. If it bothers you that much go to a coalition (recommended) doc and get a free consultation. Just make sure you do your homework and never settle for a doc because their cheap. Check out Hasson and Wong.
  19. I recently read on Dr. Fellers' website that he is working on using body hair as donor for those who dont have sufficient donor supply on their head. Ive read about this before, but I didn't know any reputable doctors (especially coalition docs) actually performed this. Does anyone know if this is really a viable option? Ive never had a ht, and Im sure I have enough donor on the back and sides of my head; but I just think it is a great new development after one has used up all of their donor supply. So, anyone know about this?

  21. Bill, thanks. As far as propecia is concerned: their website is one thing, but have you encountered anyone on this forum (or anywhere else for that matter) who claimed that the side effects were not temporary and continued after taking propecia? I also wonder how does anyone know exactly how effective the drug really is. In my case, for example, my hair loss has been SO slow and gradual, that even if I was taking propecia for the past 5-7 years I wouldn't know if it was actually effective. As far as choosing a great doc goes: yes I see your point. There are different theories, philosophies, and ranges on the spectrum as far as aggresive approaches goes. So this does leave much room for interpretation to the individual as far as selecting the best surgeon for oneself. I dont want to press you for your "favorite" of the three surgeons you have experience with since this is so broadcasted. I am considering H&W as I have not found ONE unhappy patient from this forum. They have had the MOST fantastic results I have found online, but I just feel somewhat strange going to Canada for any cosmetic surgery. I live in Southern California (the plastic surgery mecca of the world) and it just seems somewhat odd that the best results I have found are not only outside of So Cal, but are outside of the country. In the end, i will choose the BEST surgeon regardless of local or price as this is going to be permanently attached to my head. Any thoughts on the above?
  22. SinTPA: thanks. That was a very well thought and even better spoken reply. Before I did research on this forum I wasn't too concerned about the possible side effects of Propecia, as the drug company reports less than 1% of its users (I believe) experience any side effects and they claim they are reversible if one discontinues use. But after researching on this forum it appears that those who experience side effects are much greater than 1% AND it appears that some people still experience side effects after discontinuing use. Bill: is this true!?!?!? Can the side effects be permanent in some individuals? Resulting in impotence, PERMANENTLY? As far as selecting a great surgeon goes, Im sure you would reccomend Hassan or Wong as you went there yourself, correct? Thank you for the input and I would appreciate your thoughts on the above.
  23. This is a copy of something I posted earlier. I only got one response and was hoping for more. Anyone have any suggestions / input? Im disapointed that only one person gave input... I have never had a ht, but Ive been researching them off and on for the past seven years now. I just recently found this forum and have found it to be the most infromational and trustworthy source of knowledge. After researching this forum and chatting with many posters, Im considering going to H&W for a consultation. Yet, I still have a couple points of concern which it seems there are no hard definite answers for; but I would still apreciate your thoughts on. First off, Im 28. My hair loss has been slow and steady begining with a mild "widows peak" when I was about 21. Slowly, but surely the widows peak has extended back in a typical 'v' shape (with hair still in the front middle and thinning on top). Sorry, no pic. I have two worries, the first typical and the second EXTREME: 1. Extent of Future Loss: now I know this is completelly unpredictable and I, in NO way, am looking to have the hairline of an 18 year old. That being said, what if I go through with a ht, and by the time Im 50 I end up becoming a NW7. No one knows if this will or will not happen, but if it does I could end up with a moat of skin wrapping around my head between the top (transplanted hair) and bottom sides; or I might even lose some of the transplanted hair as well. 2. EXTREME WORRY: I recently read a postin on this forum, that stated (although very rare) sometimes ht dont take. That is to say that the transplanted hair NEVER grows in. Has anyone heard of a coalition doctor recommended on this forum EVER having a patient whose ht didn't take? To me, this sounds nuts, but I had to ask as I just read about it on the forum yesterday. Thanks in advance for any thoughts and suggestions. One more thing: no I havent tried any meds yet, but Im considering Rogaine (although seriously doubt it will work) and will probably get on Propecia if I have a ht. *ONE MORE THOUGHT: does anyone (who is NOT a citizen in Canada) feel somewhat apprehensive about having surgery done in a foreign country? Not that Im looking to sue anyone, but wouldn't you be leaving all of your rights back in your home country?

  25. Giants: good call. Goes to show everyone who is is 17 or 18 is not as naive and idealistic as Soft Core Seizures. Soft Core Seizures: hmmm...how do I put this without sounding like the proverbial older guy. There was a time that I thought 24 was old, and I would surely be married by this point. I noticed my hair loss around 19 or 20, it was merely a slight widows peak but it began bothering me at age 21, I also thought I wouldn't care about hair loss when I was out of my thirties and almost had a ht when I was about 22. Guess what? Im 28, not married, and I care just as much about my hair loss now as I did then. Im SO glad I didn't get a ht years ago. TRUST ME, your going to care just as much when your 28 or even 38. If you do go get a ht now to fully restore your hairline and you end up having extensive hair loss by the time your 35 (which is likely given your age) imagine what youll look like then? You wont have enough donor hair to match the hairline you get now. So youll have this really low hair line and bald areas or SUPER THIN hair covering the rest of your head. Everyone will no that you had a ht and youll look and feel like a fucking idiot!!! Trust me. Your going to care just as much in ten years time. Everyone here is just trying to look out for you because alot of guys here have been in your shoes and lost hair at a young age. The older you get the faster time goes by. Right now 5-10 years may sound like a really long time, but its really not. The decision is yours (that is if you can find a doc who is willing to do such a ridiculous thing and Im sure theres plenty of quacks out there) but maybe you should step back and realize that everyone here has been in your shoes and is merely trying to help you learn from their experience and knowledge... As far as you.."being in a teenage band...(and)...never be able to get laid again..." goes, trust me, much will change in the next five years. Alot of the guys who are getting laid now are going to end up working as security guard at the local mall. Girl mature much faster than guys and by the time all the girls you want to fuck now turn 23-25 almost ALL of them will be looking for one thing: $$$; CHA-CHIIIING!!!!!!!!! TRUST ME!!! By the time these girls turn 25 they will be interested in someone who looks and is: established, mature, and good looking. You can fit the bill by having a ht later and having a slight widows peak at that time will give you a mature look that women will like. By the way, my widows peak chilled way out by age 21. Its most likely just a slight hit your taking from all of the testosterone at your age and will probably chill out for a while. Take it easy.
