Sometimes i hear people say that they took propecia or utilised rogaine etc, just after having a HT and then they stopped taking it? Is there some benefit post transplant in using those meds for the short term? such as limiting shock loss? One thing that scares me, is that propecia causes shedding, and then after a while the hair will grow back. What happens if you only take it long enuff for the hair to shed and then stop taking it, will it leave you bald?

Bearing in mind that dht? is a chemical or hormone etc, Wouldnt it make sense that you can do certain things to alter the level of DHT in your body and therefore your hairloss? Diet? massaging your hair? Exercise - ceasing exercise? meditation? Anyone got any tips? or know anything about this?

Post operation, when you talk about using concealers? are you talking about toppix and similar products? or make up? if you get your hairline lowered, therefore not having any hairs to cover the newly transplanted hairs? would you need to use female make up/concealer on the scars? Also as i understand it, transplanted hairs fall out, after 1 month...and then grow back a few months later. Do some not fall out during that month? or every single one falls out?

dr knudsen in sydney, has advertised i think about 1500 grafts for $10 k $12.6 k for 2000 Does anyone know if those prices are cheap or expensive compared to other surgeons in Australia? Does anyone have any estimates of other surgeons in sydney? Does anyone know how much that female Australian coalition dr charges? Thanks

Bill, you know how you say if you stop taking meds all benefits will be lost. <-- is that for propecia or rogaine or both? As i understand it, rogaine actually makes hair grow, so why if you stopped taking it would hair fall out? Rogaine doesnt block dht correct?

Bill, I know you often talk about shedding with rogaine and propecia, How dramatic can shedding be? What is the average? Is it ever full on, chemothearapy style balding? and with regard to shockloss? how dramatic can that be? Is there any pictures on here? demonstrating shockloss or sheddding from meds? No one seems to give any estimates or quantifies the signficance of these events.

Dude your bald spot? is probably the smallest one ever. So dont stress to much over it. I am also currently taking antidepressants for a Post traumatic stress disorder. I am only taking a very very small amount of the drug and may cease taking it very soon. I have only taken it for a few months, and i have noticed excellerated hair loss. Did you find any additional hair loss as a result of your medication? I am looking at taking propecia, so if you hear anything about mixing this drug with anti depressants could you please let me know? Does anyone else have any information on this topic? I am thinking of getting a transplant without taking propecia, to avoid mixing that drug with the anti depressant medication - I know alot of you advocate taking propecia prior to a HT, but How dramatic can shock loss be - worse case scenario?

the picture img 0640 (its post op, sort of dark brown looking, seems as though the scabs have fallen off, but not much hair has grown) How long was that post op? are you sure 900 grafts were transplanted? Ive never seen 900 grafts make that much improvement ever before.

Who told you to only take it every 2nd day and for what reason? you know how propecia is a DHT blocker correct? where as rogaine is not? does that mean that you can use rogaine to make your hair grow and then cease taking it and still derive the benefit? Do they usually have to shave alot of your head or just the donor and recipient area? Is it more common to shave the recipient or the donor area? Lets say i had a hairline similar to birdy requiring 2000 grafts or so to the hairline, what are the pros and cons of - getting that done 1000 this year...and the other 1000 in a years time? Shockloss? Final result? would you think it would alot easier to conceal if you only get 1000 done at a time? Do some drs give a discount on the price, for the second and third proceedure etc? I have a huge interest in pychology, the mind etc etc, all that type of thing. Has anyone on here suffered a very stressful situation, which resulted in dramatic and rapid hair loss? If so, what did you do to over come that? I know that DHT creates hair loss? does stress increase the amount of DHT in the body? Or is stress related hairloss completely different? alsocooleyfied. your hair looks great. I may have just overlooked it, but do you have pics 1 week or 2 weeks post opp? so i can see where they placed the grafts? were you taking medication pre opp? What were your experiences with shock loss?

birdy, has anyone said you could get away with less than 2000 grafts? say like half as many, just as a compromise, for a bit of extra coverage, just for the time being?

But the other side of the equation is, if i get it soon, I can probably put off getting another one for a couple of years.... And at that time, they can just touch it up, rather than have a massive HT. and I think just for the peace of mind its probably better to get it sooner than later. I might be wrong though. im 29 is that too young to get one? what do you guys think?

what do you mean deffuse thinners/ receeders? Spex what are your tips on avoiding/minimising shock loss? I wish to get a ht to my hairline, So i hope i can avoid transecting the existing hairs? have you heard of anyone leaving a small buffer between the existing hairs and the HT? just a little one to reduce shockloss? Do you think its better to take propecia/rogaine 2/3 months before the HT or from the day of the HT? I am concerned about over stressing my hair, with transplant plus medicines - what do you recommend? thank u

If your getting a HT on your hairline firstly - with regard to the recipient site and scaring? do people with darker skin or lighter skin usually have more obvious scaring? If i got 1300 grafts, wait 2 weeks for the scabs etc to fall off? Is there anyway i could hide the fact i got a HT or everyone would know? Can concealer, make up etc hide the scaring? anyone gone down this road? Would you anticipate alot of redness/puffiness etc for a long time post op?

Just take a guess, im sure my doctor will give me an opinion as well, but i am interested in your thoughts. I will take meds. But im thinking, because i only want the front filled in, i wont suffer alot of shock loss and therefore, my HT will atleast be ok for 2 years? I am thinking of getting 1300 grafts. how dramatic can shedding be with propecia? how about rogaine is shedding also common with this product? Does shedding only occur on the ccrown? or they can also cause shedding on the hairline? I am currently not taking any meds and have not had a HT. I want to do both ASAP. I am concerned, If i start taking meds, and then get my HT in around 3 months time, The shedding from the medications, and the shockloss from the HT, might over whelm my hair and make me very very bald? I know some people get a ht and then begin meds? would i be better off doing that or taking the meds for 2 or 3 months before the proceedure? I dont want to wait 6 months, 2 or 3 months is the most i can wait. BTW i only plan to get my hairline done, im thinking 1300 grafts or so. Thoughts please?
