  1. I have seen some freaky things on youtube, where hair specialists are able to temporarily place hair on bald guys and give a very realistic appearance. I dont know how it works but i believe these hairs last for over 1 month? Does anyone know anything about this? Has there been any success with transplanting fake hairs permenatly - like those old hair plugs etc? does anyone still practice those techniques? How long do you guys think we are away from cloning human hair and other innovations that will reduce the need for dense donor sites? What are some of the expected innovations in the years ahead?

  3. Do you have to stop taking propecia for a period of time before having a ht? or just after having a ht for any reason? like a week or 2? Also if you take propecia everyday and then you miss a day because you forget? do you feel different ? sick etc? or it doesnt have much impact?
  4. Are there any tools available which can predict your future MPB? Or its just a guess as to what will happen in the long term? Can you give hair samples or undertake blood tests - or have a surgeon examine your head, which will provide insight into your hair loss situation??

  6. has anyone heard of a situation of someone having a HT and getting zero yield? No hairs at all? Can the transplanted grafts lay dorment for years? like little seeds and then one day just spring to life? Has anyone experienced a patch of hair like that? What can you do to increase the yield of your HT?
  7. I only require a HT for my hairline at this stage. I dont want to wait to get my HT as my hairloss seems rapid, and id rather get one now.. and another in the future if the need arises. What is the main reason you guys say take propecia for 6 months prior to a HT? is it just to minimize shock loss? Or is it because the shedding associated with propecia will give greater insight into your future MPB and allow better planning?

  9. From some of what i have seen, HTs look pretty nasty in the weeks following the operation. Did anyone in the weeks following their HT wear a bandage on their head when they went out? Or do you think thats overkill? What did u guys tell people?

  11. Does it make sense to anyone to take rogaine, get some growth and then revert to propecia to maintain that growth? Or there is no point taking rogaine for only a short period of time? I know both of these products are usuually only effective for the crown of the head rather than the hairline. Does this mean that shedding will only occur on the crown? or is the shedding experienced all over the head? Does anyone have any pictures of the extent of the shedding they experienced when taking these products.
  12. My hairloss has been rather rapid, since being diagnosed with a stress disorder earlier this year. I have noticed significant shedding, my hair has less density and my hair line has receeded maybe up to a quarter or half an inch. Do you think, Propecia, would still give me some benefits? Do you think rogaine would be a better option? Or is there another product i should consider? I think I might get a HT ASAP. I know its not an exact science, but does anyone have an opinion as to whether a transplant may still be successful bearing in mind my circumstances? I know the HT wont stop my hairloss, but do you still think some hairs will grow? Is it possible, that if i get a ht, the grafts will lie dormant for a while, until im less stressed and then sprout? Or is it more likely that they will all just die off - YOUR EDUCATED GUESSES WOULD BE APPRECIATED. ThankS.

  14. not going to go bald. calm down buddy. I find this stuff complicating, particularly because everyone is different and has had different experiences, I think you can appreciate that. BTW Dont be a dick, however if you have anything constructive to say, i am interested in your opinions.
  15. http://www.hair-surgeon.com/ Can some of you veterans, just have a look at this guys site and give me your impressions? Is there anything on there that concerns you? or seems odd? Do his qualifications seem adequate? Thanks for letting me post this Bill and thank you to anyone who responds.
  16. I just throught for user friendliness maybe you could standardise the way people label their photos. Or even if you just make a suggestion at the top of the page so people do it themselves. Just my opinion. Thanks You do a great job on here. ps - Sorry for hijacking this thread..
  17. Bill, your the boss. He was talking about holding off getting a HT? I was saying why wait for? I was trying to expand and explore on the points already raised. I dont know alot, but i thought my questions might stimulate conversation and that may benefit makaveli. that was my logic for posting here Can you please respond to my post above? about your views on the risks of getting it now rather than later? Even if you run out of donor hairs? cant u use body hair or fake hairs to make up the short fall? so why wait? I think this is related to makevali, But im very happy to repost it in my own thread, your the boss, what would you like me to do?
  18. Bill with the pictures on here (under the hair translant photo section), can you do a search to isolate particular hair characteristics ie norwood 2, 1500 grafts... hairline 2000 grafts? etc? Or you just have to search through them randomly? When i have looked at the pics, they are not labeled very well, can you try and encourage people to label the pics like that? just so they are easier to sort through?
  19. Bill, I forgot which thread i asked, but i wanted to know if i could put up a link to a surgeon in sydney? is that ok? I am considering going there for my HT, but was hoping some of you smart and experienced ht veterans could give me your impressions of the site and his services? If you think it looks professional or shit? how qualified he is etc? Do i have permission to post the address up? just for a few days?? Thank you Bill. There are coalition drs in Australia correct? do you know of any price schedules they have online? What do you mean when you suggest they are coalition drs? does that just mean they pay you to advertise? or they actually met some standards or are members of some professional organisation?
  20. Why do alot of you recommend holding out on hts? Atleast if you put hairs at the front of your head, you can do a comb over, Whats the point of trying to put off a ht for so long? Isnt it better just to do it? and get another one later? Cant you transplant fake hairs? Or pubes, leg hair? arm hair, back hair etc? to your head? Plus they will have cloning in the future - so why bother spending your life being miserable - just get a ht and be happy? Whats the point of waiting, thinking that u only have a few donor hairs when there are other options? My theory is transplant alot of hairs from the back of your head to your hairline. Then do comb overs. and to thicken your hair get body hair or fake hair to fill in the middle of your head to thicken it up. Is my theory faulty? Is it money? limited donor hairs?
  21. Diamond light. Can you please tell me about your second procedure which resulted in shockloss? How many grafts, what area of the head? Did you mostly experience shock loss of your existing hairs? or even the transplanted hairs? What do you think caused all that shock loss and how significant was it? What would you recommend to avoid shockloss? Are you doing anything different this time? Do you have some pics which demonstrate the shock loss from your second proceedure? did you have alot of shockloss from your first proceedure? Good luck with your next transplant.
  22. But some people suggest that stress merely accelerates hairloss, particularly for those already generically susceptible to this condition. So for that reason I would think they may be partly protected? People who lose hair from stress dont they usually only lose it inline with the normal mpb ? Does anyone know anything about this? Do they usually still have the normal safe area at the back of their heads? Bill, what do you think? Sorry for always bothering you Bill, i do appreciate all your time, effort and opinions.
  23. is this another name for rogaine? are there any shampoos that either stimulate hair growth or block dht? What are the other products besides propecia and rogaine? and how do they work?
  24. Bill, do you think that transplanted hairs are less susceptible to stress related hairloss? Im talking about serious stress, as in a stress disorder.
