  1. I pondered the same thing when I was planning to have an HT. I was a diffuse thinner, some called me a NW5, but I had no totally bald areas. I was quoted 800 grafts. I though that was low but I didn't think I was bald enough for 3-4k worth of grafts. My 800 grafts was actually a 1600 fu strip doubled up. Bad move, it looked good where I had existing hair but was very unnatural looking where shock loss never returned. I should have had a 1,600 fu or more strip. I now have a total of 3,800 grafts and still need more. Your wallet might go before your donor hair. Expect your will be a NW5 or NW 6 and you can't go wrong.
  2. Speaking of Rogaine. I pick up generic at Sam's Club; extra strength is only $19.99 for 4 bottles. True Rogaine is close to $ 50.
  3. You don't have to be a brain surgeon to fix or suture a scar. A stretched scar is caused by taking too much scalp out or taking the strip too high or too low. Part of getting a good ht is having the proper characteristics such as enough laxity.
  4. I personally had very bad luck with a HT. I had to wear a hat for over 2 years. I couldn't go out on the weekends or any where for that matter. My hair was pluggy and grafty. I had 3 corrective procedures with a 4 coming up in 60 days. I have my own business with just 2 employees so I would dress down; that way a hat would be appropriate.
  5. Any other patients out there that can comment on his results?
  6. Does any one know why he is no longer listed?
  7. Does any one know why he is no longer listed?
  8. Please let us know about Dr. A. I wanted to go to him but I wouldn't save any money as a flight and hotel was 2k. I am better off going to a local Doctor.
  9. Hey Ken, I know how you feel. I was butchered by a Philadelphia doctor. All 2's and 3's in my hair line combined with huge grafts. Everyone one stares right at your head while in a conversation. I have had 3 ht touch ups totaling 2k of grafts to cover poor work. One more should help out. All ht's are noticable when you know what to look for.
  10. Fue is too expensive for the results. I had 2k fue. I had 2 strips and can't get anymore strip. Your wallet will go before your donor hair with fue.
  11. Show me a nw 6 or 7 with the illusion of density. Who has unlimited donor hair?
  12. Hey Kez, I was a NW5. I had Elvis hair. My 3800 grafts gives me a semi-balding look. No illusion of density here.
  13. I don't understand how any ethical HT Surgeon. would claim you have unlimited donor hair no matter how far you progress. Seems odd.
  14. Hi JA, I won't do it. You will have a noticable scar. Hairline is most important.
  15. A scar revision isn't always the answer. I had 2 reductions on a 3 inch long by 1 cm wide scar. The second one made it bigger. You should wait about a whole year for a reduction.
  16. Get as many grafts as you can. None of us have enough grafts to acheive a full head of hair.
  17. I had 2100 fue grafts. I am wondering if they all grew. I think the transection rate is much higher than strip.
  18. I am 6 months post op of a hairline. Does anyone know the difference between venus hair and newly sprouted HT hair?
  19. I too needed multiple ht's as I had massive shock that never returned. Some of my ht's toke 6-7 months just to see the tiny baby hairs emerge. First ht is always the quickest.
  20. Hey Gill, You mentioned a lot of recepient tools. Did anyone ever hear of a lighting blade?
  21. I had 2 scar revisions. The first did reduce it about 60%. On the scond procedure it strected to almost a 1/4 inch. I am going to try a 3rd and let the sutures stay in for a month.
  22. Kez, How are you a NW5 and completely bald. A five has some hair? A 6 is completely bald.
  23. I would not do it. I was a NW 2 or 3 at 30-31. I had so much shock that I turned into a NW 5 . I had five surgeries so far with a 6th planned in 2 months. I too have super thick hair, extremely dense. The problem with thick hair is that is does not look natural when transplanted. The average man's top and front is always a little thinner than the sides. End result is a very hard hairline and a grafty appearance. You may need 2 sessions for a hairline. Your new hair may not blend in with the receding hair which will naturally be thinner in caliber. I would wait. Believe me, naturally thinning looks better than an unnatural ht. I wish I never did it. A ht is really for a bald man to get a little on top. If you have mpb I would hesistate till you know what level you are heading. If you stop propecia or your body builds immunity to it you will shed to a 5 as I did. You will be running for the chair for multiple sessions. Good luck.
  24. I wasn't very happy with Dr. Gallagher. His work is terrible. E-mail me and will tell you all the facts about GMG group.
  25. Haretoday, I live in Pa. Where can I write, call, e-mail, etc. to report Dr's?
