  1. Pat, With no disrespect I am trying to keep an open mind, but I have to agree with some of the other posters on this and other threads that more photos should have been provided. I agree with you that the results are impressive looking, but the photos still are not what should be the caliber to display ones technique. There are no immediate post op photos and one of the hairline from the side is very blurry and the scar photo also is not up to snuff. I am puzzled why lately it does seem like sub par photos are being acceptable? I do trust your opinion if you have been to clinics and seen operations and met with patients, but based on some of the pics given I have to question things and I would worry about forum credibility. We always talk about comparing apples to apples. Look at what Dr. Feller and H@W provide versus some of the latest photos from possible recommended docs. No comparison.
  2. I'm late to add to this thread as when I first saw it, I was waiting for the facts before making comment. Unless I missed it, I still don't believe that there was an estimate of the recipient area cm2. Gorpy summed things up very well. I also believe that there is still going to be some growth to come as at 9 months he was still having shockloss in donor area. This would be another indicator that he is a slow grower. Expectations and satisfaction of results is a totally subjective thing. In this case Higa sounds like he was well versed and informed in his decision. It is unfortunate for the low hair count, but nonetheless, the patient is happy with his personal results and that ofcourse is the bottom line.
  3. morenewhair1, Things look very good and natural, but ofcourse it is very difficult for us to fully assess without preop photos. Do you have any?
  4. KulMD, What superd looking work. You will be ecstatic with the results in a years time. Very refined and clean surgery. No doubt that you have made a good choice going with Dr. Feller. I do have a couple of questions so please don't read anything negative into them, but I am one that does like to observe and become more knowledgeable. 1. I have noticed in a couple of recent threads that Dr. Feller will draw in a hairline or area to transplant and then seems to go outside of this. For example with you, he went lower than where the hairline was drawn. Do you know why? Was it actually a line to indicate where density would change? 2. The scar appears to "straighten" above ear. Usually incisions won't heal as easily when there is an abrupt angle.(Possibly just photo angle) Any idea of why? Possibly if he continued upwards it might have approached border of safe zone? Again, I look at all details. Out of curiousity I ask questions. Not to invoke anything negative as this is obviously top notch work.
  5. Arrie, Things are looking great for you so far. It appears like there is a lot of growth and the scar is healing up nicely. You are like myself in that the pinkness makes things look wider than the scar really is. Another 2 or so months for both of us and it should be pretty good.
  6. Thanks for the pics doc. Gives a good idea of the difference in size of the grafts and why there is a need for different incisions.
  7. 1. Normal for the grafts to still be falling out. I thought that I had retained several grafts, but many fell out at about 10 weeks. 2. Most of the hairs will come in light and soft and gradually start to thicken up over time. I have heard of growth at about week 10 but some do retain grafts also. Good luck with things.
  8. This sounds like a great strategy and from what I understand should not be a major issue for a surgeon should the grafts be available. Ofcourse as stated it brings up more potential for scarring, but negligible as you would likely still have relatively small punches and in the midsection.
  9. Wow. This is super so far. Things are progressing along at a great pace. Very good looking, natural results. Glad to see some work from Dr. Konior.
  10. Kind of looks a little suspicious, especially with the Dr.'s name in the location area. If you truly did a lot of research about HT's, the "Burger King" places wouldn't have even been a remote possibility. Hope to see some follow-up.
  11. I checked out the photos presented and realized that most are also highlighted on his website. In good faith I could not recommend him based on what I have seen due to: -only one case showing immediate post op photos and they are poor quality -same photos as website therefore assume these are "showcase" patients I guess this is a case where I would just have to go with your judgement.
  12. TheHairlosscure, Yes, I had a procedure when I was 22. I have to commend the surgeon even though it was old school work. Thank God he went high enough in the hairline and used strip as opposed to punch. I was fortunate enough to maintain some native hair for many years so I believe (unless people are too kind ) that it was essentially undetectable. However, it was definitely starting to become visible as I aged and prior to surgery it was in my opinion, quite evident. That has been my sole reason for seeking out this site and why I narrowed things down to Dr. Ron Shapiro. I have plenty of donor and in my case we were able to place grafts in front to camo the old work. I could have lowered hairline more but chose to just hide and seek out density. I am blessed that it looks like at 4 months things are going to be awesome.
  13. Thanks Ng2GB. I hear your frustrastion, but what you have to understand is that there are very few that have their HT's and hang around this site. They researched, got their HT and have moved on with their lives. It sucks for those of us that want to soak up as much stuff from them as possible, but you have to be happy for them that they are finally free and can move on. That is a pretty cool thing and likely will happen to you soon.
  14. Ng2GB, At that time the only way she knew about HT was the scar. NO, running hands thru recipient area wouldn't do it.
  15. I am only at 4 months so there is so much more to come, but already it has allowed me to: -have longer hair if I wish -not worry about the wind -comb and leave and not worry -add gel if desired -look good not combed out of shower -even have decent bed head
  16. Remarkable that you were able to go back to work so quickly. It certainly does help to have such refined work done. This can make all the difference in the world. It does appear like you have much more native hair than the original photos displayed and that also helps a tonne with concealment. Heal well and keep us all posted.
  17. Thanks Bill, I just told my wife and others that I was cooling it on my time on this site. Apparently I haven't slowed much. I hope she doesn't ever frequent this site.
  18. Candy, As far as I know, woman should not take propecia. Possibly due to your age and the fact that your child bearing years are behind you it might be OK, but not sure. I don't believe though that womans hairloss is associated with DHT levels so therefor it might be non effective. Good question.
  19. Things look pretty good as far as I can tell from the photos. Amazing what a little bit of that concealer stuff is capable of. Glad to hear about the girlfriend. I was once asked about the scar from an old girlfriend that had noticed it after I showered and I was terriefied to tell her the truth. When I finally told her she said, "Oh" and continued on doing what she was doing. True story.
  20. After coming across a few different repair cases lately, I was wondering why sometimes the doc elects to conceal with grafts in front of old work and other times by placing grafts in behind. Is it a case by case scenario? I am assuming that it is, and in cases where the hairline is high enough and there is plenty of donor they would almost always elect to place both in front and behind. Am I corrent in my assumption?

  22. NW5a, Looking great so far. Great coverage and density is certainly getting better and better. I am impressed with the work of Dr. Heitmann from what I have seen so far. He does very clean looking work and obviously your results speak for themselves. Keep us posted.
  23. fixingit, I too am from Michigan so if there is anything that I can do to help let me know.
  24. jsam72, I researched a lot and I was considering Rahal, H&W, Rose and Shapiro. My choice was finally made because: - The owner of the site has seen all of the docs and has studied and visited their clinics. He had all but 1 of his HT's with Shapiro. That said a lot to me.
