  1. Spoon: Very interesting analysis. If Dewaynes comments are correct regarding the grafts that live, a 4000 graft case would result in an extra 6% loss of grafts (2630/2700 =97%; 3650/4000 = 91%). In my case, I put all the numbers together to summarize Spoons and Dewaynes points and got the data as Bill suggested. My session averaged 2.4 hairs per follicular unit . a). 4000 grafts x 1.7 hairs per graft = 6800 hairs x 91% survival = 6188 total hairs b) 2525 grafts x avg. 2.4 hairs per graft = 5977 hairs x 97% survival = 5797 total hairs. (Note: 2525 x 2.4= 6060 but my actual hairs is 5977 based on the detail below) c) Difference in Total hairs : 6188-5977 = 391 hairs / my avg 2.4 hairs per graft = 163 grafts d) The costs quoted on this site for a 4000 graft case is approx. $13,000 or an extra 35% over a standard sized session. For the extra 163 grafts I would have paid an additional $28 per graft. In summary, based on the info provided on the previous replies, a 4000 graft session compared to my own would have only provided a hair yield of an extra 163 grafts. I think I understand a little bit better now why you can get comparable results with different techniques and recommended doctors. Wiz Kid
  2. Hello everyone, Wiz kid here letting everyone know that my REAL hair is growing like crazy! Very itchy which is realy good. My clients are noticing the difference now especially. The scar is so small and clean my stylist has to look for it and I'm wearing my hair very short in the back. The front hairline has been the slowest to grow in but it is coming. The pic's of me will be posted soon when I get them from Dr. Ricardo Mejia. At this point I would totaly do this all over again knowing what I know now. I still feel that it has to be the right choices and the right age including skin and hair color combinations that make the transplants look amazing or just so so? No one really talks about scalp color and hair color combinations, it does make a BIG difference. Look for my before during and processing pics soon.

  4. Are you interested in coming in to see me? If you serious about my business and coming in or referring clients I will be happy to tell you. My clients consist of women with alopcia or are under chemotherapy and the rest with male replacement makes up most of my experience of 26 years. If your serious I can respond to real questions or concerns.
  5. No matter what type of hair replacement product you can choose to get on-line it's still not finished professionally. It's like buying a beautiful suit that's ill fitting and slightly the wrong color and hanging it on your body because of JUST price. My clients know and understand it's not the product per-se' but the hands that are delivering it to you making sure the color is a exact match and the style choices are the best that can be made under expeirienced guidance. These two companies are just slamming out a mail-order product and you are hoping it will be OK. I would not be shopping price and i would be shopping for a artist just as I did when I decided to go and get real hair transplants from Dr. Mejia of Jupiter I was not necessarily looking for just price. I would want you to walk out of my salon looking near perfect! Mail order is not the real answer you need professional hands to do the attachment and cut!
  6. Hey Billo, Thanks for the reminder we're not in 2008! Typo. Check out my profile now to make sure it's all OK? I think it is now. Wiz Kid
  7. Sorry guys, My location is incorrect in this posting it should be Juno Beach Florida Wiz Kid Ht 9-21-07 Total number of grafts 2525 1's 432 2's 1102 3's 777 4's 60 5's/DFU'S 154 Total Hair count 5977 Average numnber of hair per FU=2.4 hairs
  8. Hello Everyone, I do applogize for making the location mistake in my previous posting's. Look in my profile and you can see that I own my own business in Juno Beach. I do not work for Dr. Mejia in any way. Take more time to read my post please! When it comes to a salesperson in a "front" office look the other way guys! All I am saying in the "Burger King" companies in my opion do not have your back covered with personal service. I have seen alot of work in my salon as a result of poor surgen skills and proper follow-up. I want my Dr. to know me by name when I show up in his office. When does a "Sales person" do a follow-up call or give out their private cell number for you after post-op? When do you really see them again? They just want to make sure the check clears and they get their commission. 9. Dr. Mejia reconmended that I use Rogaine since my real hair transplant just as an extra pump. I don't have real high expectations but it cannot hurt. It does seem to help all of my hair grow faster? I'll let you know. I also did try the Propecia and I had all of the side effect right away within 30 days with it, so I can't give up the sex drive for hair. Semen production, eretion quality and sex dirve all dropped off. I will stick with the rogaine and other topcal helpers. Wiz Kid

  12. Hello Big T Well, first off no matter what a company calls it's product cool dome, hot dome, mega dome, follicle dome, versa dome, it's still a hair piece. These manufacturer's are always tying to re-invent themselves and their products to lure you into believing it's the best. I would explain to you it's like going to a stone yard a buying a beautiful piece of granite it's not the product only but the artist ability and skill of the person doing the instalation that gives a top of the line result and all of the choices both you and the stylist decide upon. Be vary wary of SALESPEOPLE in a front office! They only have focus on you wallet! Stick with the person who will be delivering the product to you! They will be the honest ones. I have specialized in hair replacement for men and women for over 20 years now and it all boils down to the right choice for the right person and how much maintenace that person wants to get into. Realisticly a client needs to go into purchasing a hair replacement considering (all) of the costs invloved for the year. It's like buying tires for you car and trying to get a absolut guarantee exactly how many miles you will get out of them, that's Pretty hard to do. It's the same exact thing with hair loss products, it depends on alot of factors regarding you, your lifestyle, your stylist, you maitenance. Today the best looking products are the thinnest bases either made out of 2 miligram polyurethane or a lace type material. The hair underneath will need to be shaved off so the skin will show through and the bonding material will have to be placed onto the skin. This will stay on according to your body oils, body heat, the area you live in ie. hotter the more sweat and oils break down the bonding. In 3 weeks or so it will be removed with an oil solution and you start all over either with a brand new piece or clean the old one and place it back on. Women can go longer because they do not sweat as much from the scalp. These very thin products will need to be replaced usually every 2nd bonding because they fall apart. 9-12 units per year can easily be used. These are beautiful products delivered by skilled hair stylist are a wonderful solution. Their not perfect but their really close and they have improved greatly over the years. They are better for the person who does not really have enough hair to transplant in the back area. I personally chose real hair transplants by Dr. Ricardo Mejia because I am 47 and have great hair on the sides and back and only have 30% loss on my top/ front areas. Let me know if this helped you? 13. After 24 years in the hair-loss industry (non-surgical) and hair styling I have seen alot of BAD HT's out there and I even have covered up thousands of dollars of HT's with non-surgical HP's. I took my own desicion very seriously and considered all of my opions with finding the right Dr. for me. I considered going to the Burger King's of HT's but not personal enough for me. But hey people this if very personal and with you for life so take is seriuosly. A sales guy at the BIG BOX companies will push you through and not care about you as a person or the results. These companies have to pay for all of those commercials you see everywhere and guess who pays (you)! That's what keeps the giant wheel rolling with those places. Think about it you are picking a person and their skill to cut open the back of your scalp and punch thousands of holes or slices and move lots of hair to the front and attemp to make it look awesome as it can be! They need to be an artist people! My clients look at me all day with my work so Dr. Mejia did his job and took control and I wanted him to do what he thought would represent his work best on me. That's what should happen even when going to just get a haircut at the stylist. His chairside manner was it for me and I knew he would be the ONE who would be doing and or supervising my whole day in the chair (10) hours for a fact. I was given a very though handout explaining the pre-and post-op procedures and I followed them to a tee. I was most worried about the bumby scarring that could occur and that I've seen on some of my own clients in the front and wide scar in the back and how my own body would heal. When I finally made the decision to go for it I had to feel comfortlbe and confident with my Doctor. Dr. Mejia did the whole consultation thoughly and concise. I told Dr. Mejia do it the best you can and if you see me out at dinner somewhere I want you to be able to be proud of what you did for me and say that's one of my pieces of art! That's how I feel about my own clients. At this point in the process and considering the time, pain, and money I would totally do this all over again without a problem picking Dr. Mejia! Dr. Mejia also takes care of all of my own 5 employee's regualar skin treatments and we all love him and his staff! Let me know if you would like more information.
