  1. 46-year-old, Asian, male, with receding hairline, deep temples and balding at crown. His hair is black, coarse, and with average density at 68 fu/cm2. He underwent a combination of FUE (1,549 grafts) and FUT (3,072 grafts), a grand total of 4621 grafts (1 hair graft = 922 grafts, 1 long and 1 short hair graft = 651 grafts, 2 hairs = 2,190 grafts, 3 hairs = 845 grafts, total of 8,514 hairs). Below are his before and just 4 months after photos, with good result (He said that his hair grafts did not shed and continued to grow). We expect that he will have big improvement in the next 6 months when the hair grafts mature and grow longer. He is on Finasteride and oral Minoxidil.
  2. 52-year-old, white, male with extensive hair loss from the front to the crown, the bridge is thin, and donor hair density is good. He underwent FUE 3,009 grafts (1 hair =383 grafts, 2 hair =1,010 grafts, 3 hair = 1162 grafts, 4 hair = 454 grafts) at the front to mid scalp and he is planning to return next year to do the crown. Below is his 2 year post-op photos. He is happy with the result; however, he wants to add some more density at the hairline at the left part side when he plans to do the crown.
  3. 73-year-old, Thai, male, who have extensive hair loss from the front to the crown with some miniaturized hairs at the forelock and midscalp. His hair is coarse, black and gray. Average hair density is 60 fu/cm2. He underwent a combination of FUT 2,443 grafts( 1 hair = 1,171; 2 hair 915; 3 hair = 41, miniaturized hair = 74, 242 grafts with 1 long and 1 short hair) and FUE 512 grafts ( 1 hair = 48; 2 hair 330; 3 hair = 2, miniaturized hair = 27, 105 grafts with 1 long and 1 short hair). The total number of grafts is 2,955. Total number of hair is 4,286. Below are his before and after 7 months post-op photos with good results. He's planning to come back to transplant the crown in the next three months.
  4. I usually transplant the grafts around the existing hair follicles. However, if inside the existing hair follicles, there are some miniaturized hair further inside, I would replace that and inform the patient regarding the shock loss. This is, again, depending on the individual surgeon's judgement and patient communication.
  5. Dear Aaron, Good question! He has been taking Finasteride and Minoxidil on and off before surgery. After surgery, I told him to take it daily. I have attached his immediate post op photos per your request.
  6. 34-year-old, Thai, male who has receding hairline and diffused thinning hair at crown and wants it restored. He underwent hair transplantation, a combination of FUT and FUE. The breakdown of FUT 2,588 grafts ( 1 hair = 861 grafts, 2 hair = 1470 grafts, 3 hair = 257 grafts) and FUE 594 grafts (1 hair =94 grafts, 2 hair = 408 grafts, 3 hair=47 grafts). Total number of hairs = 5,623. Below is his before and after photos with good results, only at 7 months post op.
  7. Thank you. Just for clarification, I am still the surgeon who performs the hairline design, outlining the donor safe zone, extracting the grafts then proceed with doing premade incisions with precise direction, depth control and angle. Placing the grafts are done by my experienced team who have been with me for over 20 years. We don't allow the technician to excise the grafts other than me.
  8. 30 year-old Asian male who has receding frontotemporal hairline for the past ten years. His hair loss seems to be stable. His hair is coarse, black and straight. Hair density range from 60-84 fu/cm2. He wanted to restore the hair line and include the temple. The recipient area is 45.5 plus 11.5 cm2 on both temples. He underwent follicular unit excision (FUE) using WAW 0.9-0.95 mm. A total of 2,484 grafts and 5,060 hairs ( 1 hair = 591 grafts, 2 hairs = 1,232 grafts, 3 hairs- 639 grafts, 4 hairs -22 grafts). Below are his pre op and post op photos at 5 months with good results.
  9. 40 years old WM who have receding hairline and balding at crown. The bridge across the fringe is maintained as in Norwood IV. Hair is coarse, dark brown, slightly wavy with average density 84 FU/cm2. He underwent FUE using WAW, Tonado size 0.9/0.95 mm. A total of 3,380 grafts were excised(1-hair = 762 grafts, 2-hairs = 1,938 grafts, 3-hairs = 638 grafts, 4-hairs = 42 grafts) a total number of hair = 6,720 . The crown= 1,206 grafts, the front= 2,174 grafts. Below are his pictures at 10 months post op with good result.
  10. So sorry for the late reply. He is 37 years old and still very young. From the pictures he has intact hairline at least 2 cm2, hair loss at right side of the hairline is more than the left. The bridge is quite thick but the crown is quite bald. He has coarse, wavy black hair and seems to have good density. His hair loss is still on going, the bridge will be thin and bald in the future as well as the hairline will thin as time goes by. If he wet his hair and comb up, the balding area behind the hairline will be wider than seeing in the picture. I think he is a good candidate for hair transplant. My rough estimate, he might needs 1000 grafts more or less at front and 2000 grafts more or less at crown to have full head of hair. He can have FUT or FUE or combo to achieve good result. Of course he needs to maintain his hair loss with minoxidil and finasteride.
