  1. Sorry you went through this and glad you got a full refund.
  2. Hi there, I have a type of diffuse thinning on the front and back section of my scalp - and I have the same question you do! My transplant is in a few days and I am trusting that my surgeon has the skill to minimise any damage to my existing thinned out hair. Take a look at my situation below:
  3. Hi All, Just an update to my post earlier this year: I have booked for a two day session in January - one day address the crown, and one day to address the front section. Do surgeons actually ensure that follicles are placed around the existing hair follicles? Or do they just place them in the general area and it all sorts itself out? Just curious about this. I have a bridge of hair that has not miniaturised as much, as well as an intact hairline. I am worried about shock loss in these areas.
  4. Your hair is looking great. How would you describe Gro Clinic? It looks like they do good work.
  5. NDAustralia your results from Dr Vikram show that it is possible to get a good transplant in Australia. I am glad that I have looked into a number of options in Australia, not just overseas. I totally appreciate the warnings about the price/quality in Australia vs. overseas options - and I am taking that into account before making any final decision. At this point, I am keen on finding a surgeon in Australia who has produced good work. I am hoping to see Dr Rukshan Senanayake in Brisbane If anyone has feedback on him, or Gro clinics, I would appreciate it.
  6. I would like to second a lot of what JDEEO wrote re: Finasteride. To the OP: if you can get in a better state of mind to try it, it can be a very effective drug. I take it on a low dose, and I don't like some of the side effects, but I realised that I can tolerate it on a low dose, and it still benefits my hair. Nothing is perfect, I had times where I got caught up reading horror stories on forums and I freaked out and stopped taking it. Sometimes I was off it for 6 months to a year. I might stop it one day, but for now, it is working for me. My hairloss is quite advanced, but it is a less common type of diffuse hair loss where I keep my hairline intact. I am booked in for a transplant at the end of the year (so I don't accept my fate entirely!). Check out my pics and my original post here. I am hoping for good results given that I have relatively coarse and wavy hair but my strange diffuse thinning will be tricky. Your hair also seems moderately coarse (?) this could give you good aesthetic results in a transplant - make sure to enquire with a number of surgeons for advice and guidance on your next steps. Oh, and.... I was not sure what retrograde (alopecia?) was, but thanks JDEEO for freaking me the fk out! 😅
  7. I am currently taking 2.5mg a week of Fin, a very low dose. It is a powerful drug if it works for you. The low dose I am currently on stabilises my hair loss quite well; when I was young, results were even more impressive - many follicles recovered and I went through my 20s with beautiful thick hair. The negative: It did have sides for me, but they do go away when I stop using it (I have had periods on and off the drug for the last 8 years). Fin is tricky because sides never come right way, it takes about 2-3 months of it being in my system before I notice 'the numbness'. It can be really disturbing and get in your head - but there are many things that impact mood and libido - so it is important to have a very balanced mind before you start taking it. I would stop using Fin tomorrow if anything more effective ever replaced it, but there is nothing nearly as effective in my case, even with a hair transplant I will require Fin ongoing.
  8. @Rui Which clinics did you visit in Melbourne? How did those consultations go? Is there are reason you did not go with them?
  9. I don't understand the survival/blood circulation dynamic. I see clinics get impressive results by packing grafts very densely, particularly at the hairline. The results from doing this can look really incredible. Are these grafts then less likely survive because they are densely packed? If so, how are some of these guys getting such incredible results?
  10. Thanks for sharing this excellent summary Rui. It is great to get some insights into Australian clinics and how they are operating. I look forward to seeing your updates and hopefully good results.
  11. There are some strong voices on these forums suggesting that if you want quality work, do not consider getting a transplant in Australia. However, your transplant looks well done. I am curious to hear more about your experience with Gro, did you consult with any other clinics in Australia? why did you pick Gro? It looks like you will have good results.
  12. Thanks for your response Dr Pathomvanich. Yes I am most concerned about my hairline thinning over the years, this will happen slowly, but surely. On my left temple the hairline itself started to thin slightly and this was a big concern. When I went back on propecia 2.5mg a week, this virtually halted it, or slowed it down significantly. As for the bridge, if it slowly goes after I have already filled the bald patches on the crown and the especially the front, I think I will get away with it not being very visible at all. Any work that a surgeon does, I would particularly like their opinion on if it is worth 'reinforcing' my hairline with grafts, or if it is better to leave it and not disturb the viable hairs that are still there. I will no doubt raise this when I make enquiries.
  13. I could grow a beard like that in three days, but the hair on your scalp I would kill for haha. You look great by the way and beard frames your face nicely along with your perfect head of hair.
  14. Thanks for sharing Jarvis, I look forward to seeing how your results progress. Obviously not fun times for the next month or so, hold strong!
  15. Thanks for the informative reply qui bono. I can now see that I definitely have the Ludwig style of balding. You made the observation in another thread that it can be more easily hidden with concealers, you are absolutely right about this. Concealers have allowed me to quite convincingly hide the balding even at an advanced stage, heck I have even hidden it from myself! It is only recently that I have accepted how bad it has gotten. The examples you have provided give me a lot of hope. Cheers
