42-year old white male with receding hair at front-temporal zone and wants it restored. Hair is straight, coarse, and dark brown with average donor density of 75 follicular unit/cm2. FUE was done with total of 2,278 grafts placed (1 hair graft= 328, 1 long and 1 short-hair grafts = 120, 2-hair grafts= 1,245, 3-hair grafts = 546, 4-hair grafts = 39), equivalent to 4,732 hairs. Hair grafts were placed at the hairline and both temples. Below are his pre-op photos and post-op 8 months after. He is happy with the outcome.

Patient is a young 25-year-old Thai male, but he already has progressive and extensive hair loss from front to the crown which affected his social well-being. His hair loss has been stable for the past few years and he wants to have hair restoration surgery. His average donor density is 70 follicular units/cm2. He underwent combination of FUE and FUT with a total of 4,092 grafts (1,401 grafts from FUE and 2,691 grafts from FUT). (1 hair graft = 1,285 grafts, 1 long and 1 short hair graft = 481 grafts, 2 hairs graft = 2,079 grafts, 3 hairs graft = 247 grafts; total number of hairs = 6,665 hairs) Patient was advised to take oral hair loss medications to maintain his hair and to prevent further progression of hair loss. 33-year-old Thai male has receding hairline to the midscalp and diffuse thinning hair from midscalp to the top. He has good donor hair at the sides and back. Patient underwent combination of FUE and FUT with a total of 3,518 grafts (1 hair graft = 543 grafts, 1 long and 1 short hair graft = 507 grafts, 2 hairs graft = 1874 grafts, 3 hairs graft = 594 grafts; total number of hairs = 6,580 hairs). This a 55-year-old, Asian, male who has receding hairline and very deep temples. He came in to the clinic wanting to restore his hairline but is on a limited budget. His donor hair density is good with an average of 77 follicular units/cm2. He underwent FUE with a total of 2,411 grafts harvested and transplanted at 40% density without complications. (1-hair graft = 371 grafts, 1-long and 1-short hair graft = 158 grafts, 2-hair graft = 1,171 grafts, 3-hair graft = 688 grafts, 4-hair grafts = 23; total number of hairs = 5,027 hairs). He underwent a combination of FUT and FUE, 3015 grafts from FUT and 644 grafts from FUE, a total of 3,659 grafts (1 hair graft = 683 grafts, 1 long and 1 short hair graft = 654 grafts, 2 hairs graft = 2,017 grafts, 3 hairs graft = 305 grafts; total number of hairs = 6,286 hairs). He is very happy with the early result of his hair growth and he was informed that it will take at least a year to a year and a half for full result. He has been taking oral finasteride and oral minoxidil since post surgery. He will return next year to have the transplant at the crown.

Thank you, Archan. You're right, the very coarse hair in Asian is difficult and challenging to create the hairline and need to select the finer hair and lot of single hair to achieve natural result.
