A 28 years old white male Norwwo IV,with receding hair line and thinning hair at the crown. He underwent one session of FUT with 3,750 grafts consisting of 1-hair graft=290 grafts, 2-hairs graft =1,901 grafts, 3-hairs graft =1,025 grafts and 4-hairs graft =534 grafts (10,104 hairs).The hair grafts were placed at the front and crown. The post operative photos were taken at 2 years 2 months after the surgery. He was very please with the result and would like to proceed with more session to add on density. Below are B/A .

A 30 years old white male Norwood class V ,with hair loss from front to the crown. He underwent one session of FUT with 4,438 grafts consisting 1-hair=300 grafts, 2-hair=2,666 grafts, 3-hair=1,181 grafts and 4-5hair=291 grafts (10,485 hairs). He had loose scalp with good density. The hair grafts were placed from the front to the crown. The post operative photos were taken at 1 year 6 months after the surgery. He is very please with the result and would like to proceed with more session for add on density. Below are B/A .

I had a long discussion with Kal121 during consultation that his hair loss will progress to Norwood VI or to the worst scenario VII even though he described his father as Norwood IV. He was informed regarding shock loss of existing hair after surgery and it might not grow back. He wanted to lower his preexisting hair line and I advised him to move hair line higher than his existing line. His area of thinning hair measured from front toward the crown =220 cm2, the plan is to transplant at front to the top measured 155 cm2. Scalp laxity was 28%. Strip about 52 cm2 was excised and cut to 4059 grafts (1-hair=487 grafts,2-hairs=2883 grafts,3-hairs=689 grafts) on July 11,13 .Grafts were placed over 155 cm2 from front to top roughly 26 grafts/cm2. He was seen next day for follow up and left to India the following day. He was informed that it will take at least 8 months to see the difference or 12-18 months for the result.He also needs to take medication for his hair loss. Attached please see the pictures taken at the time of surgery. I know he is anxious to see big improvement but I need to see the current photos of his taken from the same as the pre-op to be able to compare.

A 40 years old Asian male with androgenetic alopecia class V, he has receding hair line and moderately thinning hair from top to the crown. The balding areas measured approximately 190 square centimeters. He had one session of hair transplant (FUT) done with 581 one-hair grafts, 1,719 two-hairs graft, 351 three-hairs grafts, and 415 four-hairs graft. The total number of grafts is 3,066 (6,732 hairs). He started using 1 mg of oral finasteride daily since the operation. He returned for the follow up ten months post op and happy with the result. He plans to return for more graft at crown.

He was on 1/4 tab of Proscar after the first surgery.

70 years old W/M with extensive hair loss from front toward the crown, he underwent 2 sessions of hair transplantation in 2 years interval. 1st session, he has 3,530 grafts (1hair= 635 grafts, 2hairs= 2,565 grafts, 3hairs= 330 grafts, total 6,755 hairs) 2nd session, he has 2,367 grafts (1hair=224 grafts, 2hairs= 1,617 grafts, 3hairs= 526 grafts, total 5,036 hairs) Below are B/A taken 3 years after 2nd session with good result and a minimal donor scar as shown.

This is the follow up of 49 years old white male Norwood V who was post on hair loss network last Feb 2013 for hair transplant at front with 3174 grafts. He has 2nd session a year later at top and crown with2518 grafts ( 1-hair=369 grafts,2-hair graft=1557, 3-hairs graft=592) a grand total of 5,692 grafts (11,256 hairs) were transplanted. Below are one year post op from 2nd session with good result and minimal donor scar.

MK is 60 years old Caucasian male who have receding hair line and large area of baldness at crown ,underwent 2 sessions of hair transplantation 15 months interval. 1st session 3147 grafts or roughly 6226 hairs were transplanted. 2nd session3289 grafts or roughly 7043 hairs were transplanted Below are before and 3 years after, a total of 6436 grafts or roughly 13269 hairs were transplanted with good result.

32 years old Asian male with receding hair line and thinning hair at top and crown underwent hair transplantation on June 5th ,2012. A total of 2488 grafts were transplanted as follow: 1-hair graft= 366, 2-hairs graft = 1591, 3-hairs graft=181, 3-4-hairs graft= 350 (5316 hairs) with good result 13 months post op.

My apology for the late response since I’m just returned from hair meeting in India, have lots of presentation and didn’t have time to access the email. In regarding to Jason5, he had FUT on April 12th, 2012. 1,798 grafts (1-hair = 219, 2-hair = 1,221 and 3-hair = 358) were transplanted on the recipient area roughly about 45 cm2. African type of hairs are extremely curl, grafts are difficult to cut and inserted compare with Asian and Caucasian hairs. It’s a time consuming procedure and the team need to be patient. I have reported “How to Minimize Follicular Transection in African Type of hairs” in Hair Forum International and also had chance to speak in UK (European Annual Scientific Hair Restoration Surgery Meeting) and in Chicago (ISHRS Annual Scientific meeting) 12 years ago. However the basic principal of hair transplantation is the same regarding any racial. No one hair line is the same but might look alike. My practice is to have patients express and draw the hair line as he or she wishes and then I communicate and readjust till the patient happy after assess his donor hair and the extend of baldness. Physician wants to have his result look good and end up with happy patient. However in some the result was unexpected with inadequate growth and patients as well as physician are unhappy. Jason5 has communicated well with me via email, after year and a half there is inadequate growth of transplanted grafts and I offered him to do another session with no charge. As physician we first have to find out the cause since there are many factors causes inadequate growth. I have been practicing hair transplant for 22 years and I believe my team is capable in handling this hair type. It’s up to Jason whether he wanted to seek other doctors as suggested by the thread and I believe I knew most of them or return to me for reassess and redo surgery without charge.

48 years old Caucasian male Norwood V with a receding hair line and moderately thinning hair from the front to the crown.He has good donor hair. The plan is to transplant the balding area at front and the crown (measured 144cm2), not the bridge. He underwent hair transplantation as followed: 1-hair=486 grafts, 2-hairs=2,756 grafts, 3-hairs=1,039 grafts, 4-5hairs=258 grafts; total 4,539 grafts(10,147 hairs). The hair grafts were placed at the front to create a new natural hair and fill in at the crown area. Post operative photos were taken at 1 year and 9 months after the surgery with good hair growth. He will return to add more density a year later.

43 years old white male who has receding hair line and thinning at crown wish to have hair line restored and some density at crown. He underwent FUT with total 2576 grafts or 6043 hairs were implanted ( 1-hair=245 grafts, 2-hairs=1413 grafts, 3-hairs=700 grafts,4-hairs=218 grafts). He was seen 1year 7 months post op and color his hair with medium brown as shown in the pictures . He planned to come back for more grafts at crown in the future.

56 years old white male who has hair loss at front to mid scalp and thinning hair toward the crown. He underwent mega FUT at front to mid scalp a total of 3,864 grafts = 9135 hairs ( 1-hair grafts= 363, 2-hair grafts=2,224 , 3-hair grafts= 948 and 4-hair grafts=329) were transplanted. The photos were taken at 11 months after surgery with good result. He is planning to return for another session at crown .

52 years old male who has receding hair line to mid scalp and thinning hair at crown.underwent FUT a total of 3138 grafts or about 7242 hairs (1-hair=327 grafts, 2-hairs 1868 grafts, 3-hairs=710 grafts,4-5 hairs 233 grafts). He was seen 10 months post op as shown in the pictures below with good result and minimal donor scar.

39 years old Asian male who has extensive hair loss from the front toward the back with dense miniaturized hair at front and top,the donor hairs were average with density 70 grafts/cm2. He underwent hair transplantation on May 23,12, 3094 grafts were transplanted (361 one-hair graft,2234 two-hairs graft,290 three-hairs graft,209 four-hairs graft, a grand total of 6535 hairs. 41 years old white male who has receding hair line and thinning at crown, requested FUE hair transplantation. He wanted only to restore his hair line. He underwent strip FUT on June 11,12 4059 grafts roughly 9,203 hairs (1 hr=410 grafts, 2-hairs=2,560 grafts, 3-hairs=818 grafts, 4-5 hairs=271 grafts) were transplanted from front to mid scalp. He underwent 2nd session strip FUT at crown with the same scar on May 23rd, 3,132 grafts were transplanted. His entire large balding area was completely transplanted from front to the crown.

A 39-year-old Asian female with a high hair line wanted to narrow her forehead by doing hair restoration. The total recipient area was measured 53 cm2 at the front. The ultra refined follicular unit grafting was done with strip technique and trichophytic closure. The detail of the hair transplantation is as follows: Frontal area: 1 hair: 615 FU grafts, 2 hair: 1,542 FU grafts, 3 hair: 262 FU grafts A total of 2,419 follicular unit grafts consisting of 4,485 hairs. The patient was followed at 2 years post-operatively with a good hair growth and significant cosmetic improvement by lowering her hair line. Her donor area has a minimal scar as shown in the photographs.

Significant cosmetic improvement 6 months after hair transplantation A 38 years old Asian male who has receding frontotemporal hairline and thinning hair from the front towards the crown with good donor hair. The total thinning/balding area measured 187 cm2. The ultra-refined follicular unit grafting was done from the front to mid scalp with strip technique and trichophytic closure. The details of the hair transplantation are as follows: 1-hair: 557 FU grafts, 2-hair: 1826 FU grafts (3652hairs), 3-hair: 396 FU grafts (1188 hairs) and 3-4-hair: 247 FU grafts (865 hairs). A total of 3026 follicular unit grafts, bearing 6262 hairs were transplanted. The patient has been taking Finasteride 1mg and 5% Minoxidil lotion 1cc twice daily post op. The patient was followed at 6 months post-operative with good growth and significant cosmetic improvement. His donor area has minimal scar as shown in the photographs.

48 years old caucasian male who have receding hair line to mid scalp and central crown baldness as in Norwood V.He has good donor hair and wanted only the frontal transplanted. He underwent hair transplantation as follow: 1hair=680 grafts,2hairs=2,165 grafts,3hairs=329 grafts total 3,174grafts(5,997 hairs) Below are B/A one year after surgery with good result and now he wants to come back and work on his crown in the future.
