I am not a medical person, but I think the reason they will not do the surgery is that the swelling may close off the shunt, causing damaging pressure on your brain. It could just be they are afraid of lawsuits.
I think Dr E may be corrilating that the skull decreases in size after age 20. After that it would be less of a tight fit. The smaller skull is one of the reasons we get wrinkles, but not the only one.

One man of African descent was interested in using BHT because he wanted to keep his hair nearly razored and not have the shine effect. I think it would look good shaved, but horrid if it was grown out.

My take on it, is that it can look good. Problem is that the hair grows slower and not as long, and may look weird with normal hair up there.
I found that the application of neosporin helped break the bond of the scalp and the scabs. I wouldn't try to force them off though. Scabbing is a natural part of your body's response to trauma, and may cause the root to be screwed up if you traumatize it.
That is very intersting rjnebbo. I am wondering if the drug changes conformation or does not want to come out of solution in the drug. I think that taking .25 mg twice a day would almost completely block the one form of Alpha-2-reductase, due to the half lives of the findasteride.
I had mine with Dr Keene in October and some of mine grew right out. They seemed kinda weak though. Are you sure they aren't just weak native hairs? around my temples I had the most survivors.
