  1. Looking brilliant for 4 months, that hairline is starting to fill in nicely, thanks for sharing.
  2. Good news, I received a consultation response from de Freitas clinic, they got back to me in about 3 weeks which is much quicker than I anticipated. Pretty happy with that. Just one more consultation I want to tick off then I have a big decision on my hands.
  3. Don't want to derail the topic but your username is great 😂. - From a fellow balding accountant. My Dad still has his hair, perhaps the stress of our jobs and work related study caused us to lose our hair?
  4. Light coloured curly hair , a rarity here it seems, keen to follow this one. Thanks for the detailed post and all the best! Also, respect to Eugenix for going with your initial quote, kind of seems like robbery at that price 😅.
  5. If you are having doubts then I would keep saving until you can pick a doctor where you have confidence. At least you're wise enough to not get one here in Aus so you're already headed in the right direction.
  6. So did I and I think it was an opinion I'd formed on this website as a lot of people were saying your doctor needs to do the whole process. I think this was more the doctor needs to be involved in the whole process - to some degree - and be the person performing the really key important tasks.
  7. Keen to watch this one. Thanks for posting. Please keep us updated and best luck with the recovery.
  8. Hey there, another Aussie here. I only know personally of two people that have had work done here in Australia for quite a lot of money and I have to say I wasn't impressed with their results. Albeit on talking to them it seems like they didn't do a whole lot of detailed research. I'm sure somewhere out there there are probably some good doctors but they just don't appear to be well known. I know there is a dermatologist in Melbourne who was personally trained by Dr Bisanga (Belgium) who may be worth trying to contact, even then I can't find much on his actual hair transplants online. I'm seeing him on recommendation of Dr Bisanga for a consultation next month to assess my hair transplant candidacy and options (with the intention of eventually going to Bisanga in Belgium to this have the procedure). There seems to be a decent chunk of Aussies on this forum that generally head to one of the forum recommended doctors in either Thailand or India given it's a little closer than the other popular countries. Personally my preference is Europe because I feel there are more examples of people having procedures with similar Caucasian hair to mine where I can see plenty of comparable cases, I imagine these doctor's would deal more frequently with my kind of hair. I think the large travel component is just a small inconvenience in what really is a life changing procedure.
  9. It sounds as though Bisanga also doesn't do the extractions either (not sure if this is relatively new) unless you specifically pay for this which is an extra 1.5 euro per graft. Otherwise the extractions are done by Dr Kostis. My understanding is the overall design and recipient sites is the most important part of the process which Basinga is completing. Don't know enough about Dr Kostis or hair transplants in general to know if the 1.5 Euro per graft for the extractions is worthwhile or not, but we all know how important protecting the donor area is. At least Dr Kostis has been on the other hand of Basinga's work. I believe he posted his own review of a hair transplant done by Basinga on this forum.
  10. At least you're starting with some of the better doctors, albeit it only two. Being 29 I can relate to you a bit - my initial goal was to have the transplant done before turning 30 but COVID through a spanner in that due to international travel restrictions. I'm also a bit impatient as I'm fairly eager to quit my job and find a new one but I don't want to have my hair procedure while working for a new company because getting the necessary time off work will be difficult and then hiding the transplant during the growth/shedding stages will be even harder. I've realised the 'before 30' goal is silly because I (hopefully) have another 50 years or more to live and an extra 12 months really is not a lot in the whole scheme of things. My head and hair will be visible for the rest of my life so it's important I get this right. Kind of jealous you've actually been consulted by De Fretias - I've been waiting a few weeks after sending my pictures and details through their online consultation form. I think looking at this forum it's roughly a 2-3 month wait generally. How long did it take you to get a response? I've consulted with a few other recommended doctor's on this site but right now I'm only really considering Dr Basinga (BHR Clinic) and De Freitas. Right now I don't have a lot to assess De Freitas on since I haven't received a consultation or any communications yet but the results I see on this site just seem too good to ignore, there are just so many home run transplant examples, I think I'd be doing myself disservice if I at least didn't get a consultation from him before deciding on my doctor of choice.
  11. This wasn't intended to be a complaint about the price. I was just interested in why it varies from this table which says 4 euro and whether or not there's been an increase in the price or a change in the process that has resulted in a reduction. Also figured I'd notify here incase someone is using this table and assumes 4 euro when in fact it may now be 5 (or 3.5) depending on which option they take.
  12. I have recently been quoted from BHR Clinic €3.5 euro per graft on the following conditions - Dr. Bisanga leads the surgery, consults and plans the approach. Dr. Bisanga makes the recipient sites. Dr. Kostis punches extraction sites in the donor Technicians then extract the pre punched grafts and place the grafts into the pre made recipient sites. For any patient that may prefer Dr. Bisanga to punch all extraction sites, such surgery would be charged at €5.00 per graft. Seems a little inconsistent with this table. Not sure if it's gone up from 4 to 5 euro or if due to more involvement from Dr Kostis they've now dropped the price by 0.5 Euro?
  13. Bit late to the party but your results from the meds were ridiculous on that short of time frame. Best of luck with the regrowth period post HT!
  14. Incredible, simply awesome. If you care to share (can do in PM) what was the cost per graft? Nice to see someone on this forum with thinner/medium blonde hair get a great result.
  15. Thank you for the very quick response. I have sent you the details via PM. Thanks for stopping by. I actually spoke with Amandeep in January and your case got mentioned during our call when talking about Australian's travelling over there. He did mention I was a more ideal candidate than yourself haha - I don't think my procedure would be 5 days! Eugenix would probably be my choice if I were already a NW5/NW6 which appears to be where I'm headed, but with medication perhaps I can prevent ever getting there. So far I'm liking the professionalism I've experienced from BHR Clinic but honestly I think I could go in confidently with any of my shortlist. If anything the travel excites me - particularly after the last two years where I haven't flown anywhere - I don't really care where I go or how long the flights are, I just want to pick the doctor I can have the most confidence in.
  16. Brilliant write up - thanks for all you do for this community. This is going to be a lot of fun to watch.
  17. I'm trying to get a consult from Bisanga also and he's said he would only do so on the basis this could happen in person to ensure a quality assessment. Knowing I was from Australia he gave me the contact details of a former colleague who now lives in Australia who could do the assessment on his behalf. Problem for me is that colleague is still a short flight away (or 9 hour drive) from me and with COVID rules here you never know when a state border restriction could come into place which would prevent me from being able to travel. His suggested former colleague also is currently booked out until end of May at the moment. I had planned a holiday to his city in March prior to all this and I don't think he can squeeze me in unless by some chance there's a miracle cancellation on the days I plan to visit. I appreciate the caution and professionalism but I have to say it's a little frustrating as I have plenty of other clinics (recommended on this site) willing to at least give me some idea and a quote based on my situation (which is obviously subject to change and be tailored once an in person assessment is made). To some degree this actually makes me want to go to his clinic more as it seems like they have good integrity.
  18. This is looking absolutely awesome. I like the level of detail and frequency of updates you provide. Thanks for all the useful info and insight. It's a long flight for me from Australia but I think BHR Clinic is at the top of my list right now for my procedure when I decide to get it done.
  19. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018–2022_Turkish_currency_and_debt_crisis Turkey's economy is unfortunately going through a bad time at the moment and their local currency is experiencing significant inflation meaning that the Euro/USD is much stronger comparably with the Turkish Lira. I believe most clinics in Turkey (not just Bicer) will appear comparatively cheap when compared to other countries because of this issue.
  20. @De Freitas ClinicHi, sorry to tag you, hopefully this is allowed. If I want a consultation on my hair do I just send my pictures to info@clinicadefreitas.com or was there a different email I should use? Also what information do you need apart from pictures of my hair? Just looking at Dr Freitas as a potential option for me. Thanks,
  21. I've experienced no side effects from taking fin if you wanted to give it a try. I believe any side effects you get will subside after a short period of not taking it if you find it's not for you. You still have a lot of hair, it's worth trying to salvage it. Fin is your best bet. You're also quite young and prone to more hair loss in future. I think if you get a transplant the doctors will strongly advise taking fin or your transplant isn't going to look good if your untouched areas continue to bald with age.
  22. Saw you pop up on their Instagram today. As a fellow Aussie, best of luck mate!
  23. Been looking at Bisanga's hairlines and they're pretty remarkable. One thing I do like is that a lot of the results I can find of his are people with similar hair and issues to what I have, rather than say Eugenix or Bicer who a lot of what I've seen are generally dealing with thicker, darker hair. There's nothing wrong with this that just seems to be more of their clientele which geographically makes sense. I've been in communication with Bicer for a long time - she was actually the first clinic I contacted - but I have to say it's been very slow. I'm still yet to get to the stage of a quote or consultation from them. Going to reach out to Bisanga as I've been impressed with some of the results on this forum. Hopefully I'll hear something from Bicer soon so I have a broader range of consultations to make a decision. I kind of regret the title of this thread as it probably deters most people outside of Australia to even look at it. Just to be clear, regardless of living in Australia, I'm willing to travel far and pay the money for something I can have confidence in. When it comes to a procedure so visible and life changing there's no mucking around. PS: I've been back on fin for a bit over a week, no side effects yet 👍. PPS: I've just discovered Dr Freitas on this forum and I am completely blown away by some of the results I'm seeing. Wow. Perhaps another one to consider? Or should I stay away given I'm likely going to need another transplant later down the track to address my crown and his full hairlines might result in me being short of adequate donors? I'm also probably being a bit of hypocrit given his clientele seem to be Spanish people blessed with thick dark hair. Not great for making comparisons with myself.
