  1. This is the key point, if you had no effects and this suddenly happened you don’t really have that much to link it to oral minoxidil. Correlation not causation. It’s easy to attribute it to that, but yes a doctor might be able to check you to see if it is genuinely a side effect or just something else that’s come up, but you don’t want to do that. As someone else said that’s the problem with forums for medical advice. When I took it I did a great deal of research into the studies and had a detailed discussion with the doctor prescribing it, if I’d have had any perceived side effect (never have) I would’ve gone back to the doctor for advice to check out what might be going on. PS for anyone reading it’s a good idea to start something like this on a low dose for a while as a trial.
  2. I’ve become a huge advocate of oral minox myself, it’s had a great effect on me even at 2.5mg daily and for sure has stablised my existing hair (for now of course). So much so that I don’t have to take finasteride which makes me really happy as I didn’t like my trial with that at all. Liquid minox was horrible to apply each day and totally ineffective on me when I gave it a go years ago. I think many could benefit from a switch to the oral version but it seems to have a bit of a bad rep on some forums - which basically seems to amount to people repeating unfounded rumours that they read on another forum somewhere and believed! Or they don’t realise a low dose is taken for hairloss reducing any risk profile.
  3. Yes, if you search for Spex hair transplant his website has one that I found very useful when I was researching. I’m not actually generally the biggest fan of the guy, mainly as he seems to be extremely financially focused, often seems to be looking to grab as much cash as possible. But regardless, his guide is now free I think, doc neutral and does have a lot of great info in for anyone starting out researching hair transplants- enjoy :0)
  4. Hey, your hair naturally falls forward like mine into a fringe. Imo this isn’t easy for a HT to make that look that good (you’ll notice you don’t see many post HT with that hairstyle). I was fortunate to get really good hair thickness from my HT but all the same I think the hairstyle I changed to by sweeping the hair to one side a bit and using clay product to hold it gave a much nicer look in the end. Take a look in my thread if you’re interested as doing this might have a good effect for you also, just mentioning as it’s rare to see someone with a similar hair pattern to mine in a HT. If you do try it, it may be better to wait until you have a bit more thickness though, hopefully in a couple of months.
  5. Great username! And you’re in the safest of hands, you’re going to enjoy your result 🙂
  6. Great attitude to have! Only thing I’d say is if it’s buzzed you have the effect of zero density and if you’re lucky you will have something starting to take shape at 4 months (may take longer) - so you might want to stop buzzing it at 2.5 months or so to give it chance to grow out so you can properly what’s happening at that time :0)
  7. No problem, glad to help. I would definitely take a pause and do a bit more research into if you want to take it, as it’s a drug which can have side effects and is generally not recommended for women - absolutely 100% not for women that could get pregnant due to severe side effects in that area. If you’re of an age where that’s not a concern for you I don’t know if the advice changes but this is a powerful drug that effects hormones in the body so I’d advise getting a second medical opinion if it’s a good idea to take it as woman and think about it carefully.
  8. Did you consult with a doctor and get the medication from them? Where did you read that? Propecia pills contain 1mg of finasteride and that’s the dose that’s taken daily for hair loss. I’m raising this out of concern for your health only..
  9. 2.5mg daily? The usual dose for male hairloss is 1mg daily. And as far as I'm aware Propecia/finasteride medication states it should not be used by women?
  10. Ah nice video, just saw it! Quick update - the result was looking good, but as I suspected after finally finding a great stylist, she’s shown me a better way to go. She used a hairdryer to sweep it up and to the side a bit and then some product to hold it in place which I think is a nicer style. The hairdresser actually said to me you've got an amazing hairline, you need to lift the hair up a bit to show this off! She’s shown me how to style this consistently and since I’ve changed it I’ve been getting compliments from friends. This look feels more fresh and stylised, so feeling as happy as can be with the result now!
  11. Afternoon Gents 9 month update here, wow just writing that I can’t believe how quickly the 9 months has gone. I was going to update last month actually, but I had literally the worse haircut I’ve ever had in my life. My fringe is curly and this hairdresser used straighteners on the fringe before cutting it which I’ve never had done before and just kind of cut straight along the front really high up. I don’t know exactly what he did to f*ck it up so much but it made my hair look so bad, way worse than previous months - he basically did everything wrong possible. In addition I did have quite a lot of shedding last month which I was a bit concerned about. I don’t know if it was a certain point in the lifecycle of the hair as per the original HT date (is that even a thing?!) or my other possibility is I had very poor discipline with my oral minoxidil for a while. I was intending to take 2.5mg per day but I would miss it for days and days so then take 5mg over a few days and then miss it again etc. I think this fluctuation isn’t a good approach and had a negative effect, my crown seemed to thin out a bit which was worrying. On to the good news! My hair is looking back to good again this month. I fixed my oral minox consistency issues, shedding stablised back to normal and the crown has recovered again for now (phew!) which I can only put down to the oral minox - as I’m still not taking finasteride. I’m sharing pictures with longer hair, it's right before when I’d usually get a haircut so it's not looking "sharp"! But after the shambles of last time I thought I’d share the pictures now before hand this time! I think potentially there’s probably a cool way that I could be styling my new hair that I haven’t fully figured out yet, will have to play around with it at some point - but still very happy to have the hair to do the messy slightly curly look for now :0) I’ll maybe do a couple of extra photos after a haircut but may just save it for the 1 year finale now. Wishing best of luck to everyone on their current or planned HT journeys!
  12. Congratulations on finally taking the plunge! As you said the key is to follow the post op instructions perfectly, make sure you're getting some rest and relaxation time to recover from all the stress & then try to put it out your mind until you start to see the results. Then it's time to just enjoy as each week goes by - all the best with it!
  13. Yes it's intentional for a more natural look, this is mentioned in one of the posts but I appreciate there's a lot of text there! At 7 months does it make it more natural? I don't know really. I don't mind how it is at all but I think it would be ok to have the design even with my hairstyle and type to be honest - but hey it used slightly less grafts, can be changed later if I want (seems unlikely) - and I'll defer to the good doctor that it's most likely he knows best and we can check in at the 1 year result.
  14. Dear Gents, Apologies for the delay updating this thread! I moved over to live on a tropical island and there have been innumerous (good) distractions getting in my way since then. What’s been going on hair-wise since my last update - I’ve just been looking at my last update at 4 months, big changes. Back then I swept the hair across, since then way more has grown and I have a “big shock” of hair at the front. My hairline is somewhat unusual in HT terms, I notice most people who get a HT seem to backcomb the hair backwards which is a cool look to be honest. However this would not suit my face as my hair has never done this, Dr Bisanga agreed with this - so in the end it’s a more natural (for me) to have it either swept slightly to one side or have it as a bit of a curly fringe. At 5 to just before 6 months it hadn’t quite filled out enough for this so there was a bit of a gap in the fringe. From 6 to 7 (reporting 1 week before 7 months) now it’s filled out more. My hair is a bit weird as although it doesn’t look like it at first glance it’s got quite strong kinks in, it's not straight at all so I guess might be harder to work with in terms of how it will look when transplanting it. So for styling, it’s not that easy at the moment - I haven’t quite figured out the style that works best. I think if it thickens a bit more over the next few months there will more option to have a curly fringe coming from both sides inside of a slight sweep to the right. As I said it’s kind of a big shock of hair at the moment which is a bit wild with curls and not something that fits into an easy to style “look". That’s the only negative I have at the moment, but as I said I think my hair is hard to work and there's still 5 months to go for the year so excited to see how this develops. Look I'm not going to complain about anything right now, I just looked at how it was before and it’s so nice to hope on the motorbike here and pull off the crash helmet and walk straight in the bar without knowing my hairline is going to be looking terrible. So sending a big cheers to Dr Bisanga and the team for my result so far! I’ve now got (the appearance?!) of more hair than I’ve ever had, as even at 16 years old the “fringe” was kind of thin. It’s really nice to not have the hair loss problem bothering me any more, dating has also miraculously become a bit easier haha. Oh and a funny thing happened the other day, I was having a drink with a group of guys I didn’t know well, everyone started talking about hair loss which 80% had - then someone turned to me and said “man at your age you’re so lucky to not have any hair loss at all” ! .. as I didn’t know them that well I just smiled to myself
  15. Sorry to say but this looks very very thin at the front. Not a nice dense packed hairline that you’d get from a top clinic. Don’t wish to be negative but just giving honest feedback. Hope it improves for you in the final months OP.
  16. That’s a crazy good improvement from your pre-surgery, really happy for you man!!
  17. Maybe you could post some pictures so others more knowledgeable than me could advise. You are right to be cautious, it’s something that’s very important to get right. Which doctor are you considering and have you carefully researched their previous ht work?
  18. Such an awesome write up and explanation - integrity is everything!
  19. What is this? If I’m understanding correctly please do not quote me again in negativity towards someone else
  20. Damn I kind of got hooked into reading this old thread while bored and now I wanna know what happened with the dude but there’s no happy ending when I got to the end of the story ha
  21. @Melvin- Moderator this @afra is a new account posting the same thing on all threads, seems like an undercover shill... Even if not should probably create a thread instead of spamming.
  22. My god that was an epic saga! 6 days, incredible! You seem like a top bloke and sounds like you’ve been through a lot with this stuff over the years - I’m sure you’re now finally set to get the result you deserve! Happy growing :0)
  23. Unfortunately for some of the elite surgeons the increased budget may still not be enough, best to take some consultations and find out though. I don't usually recommend anyone as I think it's a very personal decision which only comes from a great deal of research and consultation with the experts. However since I saw a superb list on another post made by @JC71 the other day: "Dr Bisanga, Dr Mwamba, Dr Feriduni - Belgium. Dr Pinto - Portugal Dr Freitas, Dr Villa, Dr Couto, Dr Lorenzo - Spain, just to name some" These are some doctors that I researched myself and all seem to be at the top of their game - a great place to start. If your budget isn't enough I would highly recommend saving and waiting until it is. If you make a bad decision as you were heading towards in your first post you'll spend all your money so your budget will be zero again but you'll potentially have a poor looking result that makes you extremely unhappy, will have wasted a year of your life or more dealing with it, a damaged donor area which means less likely-hood of success in a future operation and will have to pay more for a repair job (doctors can be less keen on doing them as they are complex).... this is what I mean, understand very clearly what you are getting into and please take your research seriously. I don't know much about getting a good result with a lower budget to be honest, there are a few recommended that come up in the forum - it definitely seems more risky to me. Just put the time in to understand as much as possible and do not rush. Good luck with it!
  24. Hope you get a result you are happy with after the correction surgery. Best of luck with it 👍🏼
