  1. Damn there’s some good advice on this thread to the OP and on others I’ve read recently - great community on the forum recently! 💯
  2. No, as others have said. Good news for you is you seem to be a handsome chap with a good facial structure to rock the shaved head look well! Give it a try at different grades and see what you think, it might be way better than you expect - could really suit you and solve the problem instantly! Also take a look into SMP to help with it, a friend had it done and worked great for him. Be very very careful listening to unethical ht doctors telling you what you want to hear.. they will take your money and ruin your life. Good luck! edit- as with everything in the world of hairloss only the best SMP clinic should be used and it requires a lot of careful research.
  3. The thread that never dies.. 😂! And why should it, such a great result hope you’re enjoying it every day!
  4. I find it strange you often knock oral minoxidil, there are studies on it actually. It works for a large number of people (even seen in the recent New York Times article) and for me it’s great progress that people have discovered something that works so well that’s been under utilised all this time. For me it’s unfortunate you knock it seemingly just based on your speculation. I am not on finasteride and know others who are not and it has been the oral minoxidil that has not only regrown hair but stabilised my whole hair loss which is incredible for something cheap, easily available and with no side effects for me. Also you say you are not a doctor but oral minoxidil was recommended to me by my doctor and other ht doctors who have done a lot of research on the topic.
  5. Please update when you get a chance OP! Hope it all worked out for you, these threads are really valuable for people so I hope you’ll let us know whatever happened 🙂
  6. Awesome, I am also considering the same so I’ll be following your progress with interest and wishing you well!
  7. Did you say that you were getting a beard to beard ht from the same surgeon Sitries1? I was wondering if you were still going ahead with it.
  8. I believe my ht hair was also curlier than usual - I’ve recently noticed it’s gotten straighter after the 1 year mark! All the best 🙂
  9. It’s importance depends on the projected future hair loss. But no myself and many others don’t take it after a ht. If you had bad side effects then sounds like it’s not an option anyway. Take a look into oral minoxidil.
  10. It's a little hard to pin down when as it was in the midst of a ht which I was focusing on, but what I talk about is in reference to my hair that was not part of the ht. Probably around 4-5 months but maybe sooner.
  11. Looks great - just as others have said it seems to defeat the point to put concealer in when you take photos to post here, as then what’s going on with the ht is much less clear.!
  12. My experience, recently posted in my thread, is that just 2.5mg taken for a year now has had a dramatic effect on not only regrowing hair but actually stabilising my hair loss. I do not take finasteride so I can be sure it's the result of oral minoxidil. I can only speak for the current results of course - it has currently stopped my hair loss and also added a lot to the mid scalp and strengthened my crown back to where it was before. I have had zero side effects and it has had no effect on my blood pressure at all which I checked (as it's a low dose for hair loss). I feel very lucky to have been recommended it by my doctor and to be such a great responder to it, being the only medication I take for hair loss. Sharing in case it helps someone else! PS - forgot to mention I'm a total non-responder to topical minoxidil!
  13. This post is absolute nonsense 😂😂 Worst post I’ve ever seen on this forum, literally every single thing you say with such confidence, is incorrect when someone goes to a top tier surgeon. Point 3 is the only debatable one which is a non issue anyway for the vast majority of patients.
  14. This is the case for me, donor management was so good and it healed so fast and well with FUE, there’s nothing to see! I only go 2 grade back and sides which is pretty short, might try a skin fade some time just out of interest.
  15. Yes I agree with you that is often the case, I mainly put that as a disclaimer as there are a lot of variables in any HT. The slight curl in my hair probably helps a bit. Of course it’s true that high Norwoods will have less grafts to work with so may need to adjust expectations. Yes early growth, fast change from month 3 to 9 and then slowed down to gradual thickening months 9-12. May have stopped now, I’m not sure, results are supposed to improve a little months 12-18 so will have to see!
  16. So here is my 1 year and final update! Photos taken outside, bright light. There’s been some thickening of the hair but not a huge change from 9 month result. It’s of course not equal for all patients (even with the same surgeon) as it could be down to hair characteristics but for me it’s a total myth that the HT was going to be “see-through”, or have to worry about standing in certain lighting or anything of the sort. Also the “density or illusion of density” is basically a null and void question for me - as it’s pretty much impossible to tell the difference between my original hair or the transplanted! Must be down to the skill of Dr Bisanga and perhaps favourable hair characteristics as I mentioned. Another myth, at least in my case, “it’s pointless to take oral minoxidil without being on finasteride” which I see frequently on this forum - I don’t take finasteride as when I tried it I had unpleasant side effects. I started on oral minoxidil just after the HT on Dr Bisanga's detailed advice, it’s been a total game-changer and has stabilised my hair loss across my entire scalp. I only actually take 2.5mg, as this seems to work great so I see no need to increase it at this stage. Oral minoxidil has strengthened the mid-scalp dramatically and regrown the crown which was starting to look like a bald spot before my HT (this latest picture of my crown is taken direct angle onto it & I’ve always had a kind of a cow lick in the crown). Of course the data I have on this is only 1 year old, but the results for me are undeniable. Don’t ask me how it works in terms of stabilising the lot, if regrowth simply outpaces the loss or if it’s via another mechanism (I’ve seen others confirm the same result as me) but I’m very very grateful that it does! What’s interesting is that topical minoxidil was a complete disaster for me, I had zero regrowth. In addition I saw amazing results on Reddit r/minoxidilbeard for beard growth, so I gave that a try a couple of years ago and despite almost all the posts having good results, I got next to no progress! I’ve since read that some people are non-responders to topical minoxidil (perhaps down to a certain enzyme? I can’t remember the details) - I am one of them, so for the oral version to work so well is a blessing. To sum up - the HT has been totally life changing for me, to deal with this problem that bothered me for so many years. My hair is better than it was even as a teenager! It’s improved my confidence in terms of my look and had an awesome effect on my dating life which has been a lot of fun! Now I just look and think why on earth didn’t I get it done a few years before, but that’s just the monkey mind, must stay grateful that’s it’s all good now! A final big thanks to the BHR clinic team for their skilful work and always ethical approach to the often shady world of HT.
  17. It’s been discussed quite a lot if you try the search feature.
  18. Yeah it’s not a helpful post to be honest, I just find it quite exhausting - should probably take a break from the forum.
  19. Opinions are like assholes - everyone’s got one, as the saying goes 🙃 I find it fascinating how many strong opinions there are on this topic from people who’ve obviously not actually done any proper research into the matter themselves.
  20. “End of story” Not end of story at all. I’ve no idea if that’s true - but even if it is in the vast majority of young people with medication and carefully managed donor FUE will be absolutely fine. Without having a chunk of your scalp chopped out in a big operation and an ear to ear scar for life. Anyway each to their own, if people want to go that route then fine but I dislike the statements which would lead other young people down something that isn’t needed. So to anyone who hasn’t had a HT yet I’d say be sure to consult with top doctors outside the US who have a great deal of experience in delivery amazing FUE results and ask about this before making your mind up. Cheers.
  21. It’s not case by case but is of course highly dependent on going to a top surgeon which is why this forum is here - comparing FUE from a bad surgeon is not helpful at all.
  22. I don't buy that it's financial, FUE has been clearly superior technique to FUT for a long time being less invasive. It's only in the USA really that they have been slower to let go of it. Everyone is free to have their preference but many will have a large amount of FUE grafts available anyway if donor is managed carefully. FUE techniques are so good now, for my surgery the donor looks almost untouched, you would never know - and there's a ton in the bank for more FUE grafts as needed. I would disagree as a young person it's necessary to have an an invasive procedure and have a scar on the head for life.
  23. I can see why someone very high on the Norwood scale that needs a large number of grafts might be advised to use FUT, but this was a question asking for a young person.
  24. Top doctors manage FUE donor area very carefully, using a mircoscope to see that caliber of the hair and account for future loss. There is no such thing as a general "safe zone", as it should be carefully analysed in person for each patient.
