I'm interested to see who is not taking Finasteride after their hair transplant operation.
I had been taking Proscar (Finasteride) for around 4 years. It was working really well for the first 3 years but I noticed quite a lot of hair loss in the 4th year. It was at this point I decided to get a hair transplant. I also wanted to stop taking the medication as I'm 30 and looking to have children in the next couple of years. I didn't want to take the risk taking the medication while having a baby.
I had a consultation with a HT clinic in London who gave me a quote and told me to stop taking proscar for 6-7 months prior to the operation to review the full extent of my hair loss. After 7 months without medication I lost a considerable amount of hair, from a Norwood scale 3 to 5...
I had 7 months to research the FUE. During this time I contacted a couple of other clinics and was surprised by their feedback. Another clinic in London told me it was irresponsible for the first clinic to tell me to stop taking the medication. A third clinic I contacted in Turkey strongly recommended I go back onto the medication.
I understand now that with hair loss we are constantly fighting a losing battle and unless my hair loss stabilises naturally I will continue to lose hair. So having a hair transplant without taking medication would just be a constant battle match the hair loss with more hair transplants.
My question is: Is there anyone who is not taking medication after their hair transplant?
I'm interested to see other peoples feedback on this matter.
Thanks
Hi Guys,
I wanted to hear your experience with combination of Rogaine & Propecia.
I was reading through some posts on Bernestein medical page
Propecia Rogaine Results Before After Photos | Bernstein Medical
and found the results to be quite remarkable. Do majority of patients experience similar kind of results ? Does the combination work better than individual treatments ?
Also, how long can you keep these results, in the sense of medications losing their efficacy in the long run.
What is a realistic timeline to experience some regrowth with this combination treatment?
Sorry about a lot of questions all at once. Would really appreciate if you could share some personal experience and advise.
Cheers
Hello Members,
This is my first post and I would like to thank you all for giving me knowledge about everything related to HT and how one should go and prepare oneself for HT.
About me, I am from Mumbai India and have been facing hair loss since past 8-9 years, but since last 2-3 years the hair loss has turned really bad. I think that particularly because of my profession (IT Service), Shifts take a toll on body.
So after some research on Internet, I found your website which would share the stories of people suffering from Hair loss and how to curb it. I have decided to go for HT with a doctor in Pune within 3 Months time from now based on some research on this forum.
Currently I am on Finasteride (1mg), Follihair and proanagen topical solution to keep my existing hair intact.
My question is should I continue it upto my HT? and also can you please suggest if doctors recommend medicines after the HT is performed to keep hair loss at bay?
Because the consultant I went through, he suggested you wont need any medicines in future after HT is done as they are going to provide me with 2 PRP session after 1st and 2nd month of HT to support hair growth.
Eagerly waiting for replies..
