Not true. I would say all hairs do not actually break the surface until about 8-10 months and then thickening from there. Most break the surface around 6-7 months on average.

Thanks GL. SMP looks is only a 2 hour drive for me so touch ups should not be too much of a hassle. I am hoping I can get 12 months out of it (doing 2 passes when getting it done). Getting it touched up once a year should not be too bad or costly.

GL - Would you say your SMP looks better in pics or in person?

Why do you think it faded so fast for you? Some are getting 1-2 solid years out of it. I am hoping to get one solid year out of it before a touch up. I don't swim in pools or sit in sun very much. I only use rogain foam once daily. You only had one pass done right?

I don't "Need" SMP but my crown is still thin and "SMP Looks" is right in my backyard so I figure why not try and augment what I have as well as thicken up the crown. I have 1500 or so grafts left in the tank but I do not want to use them just yet. I am going for SMP in the mid scalp and crown as well as maybe a few up front while we are at it.

Taking price into account, I would not recommend any NY doctors for FUE.

If anyone has done HTs and SMP for density augmentation, I would love to hear your story and see some pics.

Is it a bad idea to add SMP to the front third for a thickening effect or should it only be used on the mid scalp and crown?

Is it fair to say that the SMP thickening effect works better on those with higher hair to skin color contrast (The same reason why it's the exact opposite for HT)?

It's been a while since I posted. I wanted to let you guys know that I am really excited to be getting SMP done by SMP Looks in NY. As you may know, "Hairthere" is the owner and we have set a date for April. I will be going for 2 passes with the goal of thickening up further my transplants in the mid scalp, along the part lines, and in the crown area so as to try and shrink the area of the crown not transplanted by adding SMP to the crown borders. We may add a bit in the front third but not sure yet. I am super excited and must say that Hairthere is a real stand up guy and has been great so far in answering all my questions. I will keep you all posted with pictures and hope you enjoy my "Thickening effect" journey. Take Care All
