  1. I can believe the 4 times thing. I've given my girlfriend 3 in a row once, but the next day I was convinced I pulled something in my thigh (she was happy though). In my opinion, therefore, while going for the 2nd one after the first can make sense, going for anything over that is not worth the effort. It's like gunning your car on the victory lap after you've won the race...
  2. How is that pattern natural? Could you post any pre/post-op pictures?
  3. "This website should be used to share information... not bash certain individuals" Information about a certain doctor's work having caused an inordinately large scar is something folks should know about and I'm glad it was shared. Just because it's not favorable to the doctor in question does not make it any less relevant. "and then back it up with the numbers of grafts you have had, that by no means makes you an expert on Hair Transplant surgery and/or medicine." You don't need a degree to be able to give good advice. Rodfl and anyone else posting here knows, and is reminded often, that while advice given here is educated & valuable it's no substitute for a professional opinion. "Dr. Chambers trained Dr. Markou. His son, commenting, on this site, has never and will never be paid to endorse our practice and or surgerical skills, neither am I. He is simply someone who grew up educated in the world of hair restoration." Ah, I'm glad you agree that a person's opnion is not worthless just because they don't hve a medical degree. "The best I can advise as a cosmetic patient AND practioner, get many opinions, educate yourself, look at before and afters and make an educated decision. Don't rely on one website forum to make a major medical decision." Well, he's already tried relying on his doctor for a major medical decision, and we all saw pictures of how *that* turned out. No forum, no doctor, what else can he rely on? Could you suggest a few links to good information?
  4. Rodfl, Chin up bro - the good news is that you've found this site, chances are one of the top physicians you'll find here will be able to repair the damage caused. Amused, In reply to your earlier comment about the ATTACKED doctor not advertising here, I'm not sure if you know how the site works. No doctor is allowed to advertise here. The only way to get onto this site's list of recommended physicians is to go through a lenghty process which involves an in-person clinic by Pat visit to watch surgery being performed and to chat with technicians, proving years of good and *consistent* results etc. While this does not ensure there are no good physicians outside the coalition, it ensures there are no bad ones in it.
  5. Nervous, Can you take and post some photos of your current condition? Otherwise, there's really not much to comment on
  6. It's not that bad really. I didn't even think that he had one until I had mine and became able to detect them. Also, he got it done a long time ago and I'd imagine it's hard for someone like him, who's constantly in the public eye to get away with a new one without being caught by photographers.
  7. Perhaps it's different for everyone. You shouldn't discount a workout routine entirely or dismiss whjat works for others just because what works for you isn't the same. For example, so far I have gained 30lbs of muscle over about 2 years with the routine described by dhuge as "this is bullshit" a few times (went from 145 to 175) so maybe it's not completely ineffective. In the end, it's all exercise and exercise is a good thing in any form. What people should try is a few different exercises and then judge results. There's lots of good advice here from everybody, enough so that people can try a routine for a few months and then try another if they get bored. We should definitely keep this thread alive
  8. Yeah, it's strange how trained we get to look for things of this sort. I remember watching "The Rock" last week and rather than enjoy the movie, I was judging Nicholas Cage's hairline, trying to decide if it was well placed.
  9. Unfortunately, there isn't a good way to hide it for the next few weeks. You need to go through a few months of looking funny before you start to look great... just the nature of the beast. Those of us who are covering up large areas that simply did not have hair before just need to accept it. Personally, I told everyone at work and all my friends/family what was going on with my bald front 1/3rd which made things much easier
  10. He's also absolutely correct. You'll never need or want to use your nails - with time, long before the 1 month mark, you will heal enough that the scabs will fall off very easily with just water & massage. When in doubt, wait a day or two. Scabs remaining on your head can't do any harm.
  11. I admit I was a little apprehensive when I saw your first post as well. I'm not sure if you're aware, but there have been instances in the past where clinics/doctors had people working for them come on the board and lie. When there was a thread highlighting a bad job, or a series of bad jobs a particular hack doc did those folks would pretend to be real patients of the hack and post "glowing reviews", trying to create confusion or better yet, an appearance that the clinic was not bad but rather under debate. This was misleading to folks who came on the board to learn and you can see how it could lead someone into an unenviable situation. Simultaneously, MHR and the other chains have bad results more often than not. Therefore, you can see how your first post praising MHR could have been, and was, taken the wrong way. Some of the posters here may have jumped on ya a bit hard, but that's only because they wanted to protect people doing their research from what seemed like an unethical move by a chain with a reputation for unethical conduct. Once it was shown that you were, in fact, an actual patient who was not only not on MHR's payroll but who has in fact found a good doctor in MHR, things returned to normal I'd like to offer a quick note of thanks for being persistent and not letting us scare of off there. Now, thanks to you we know of another great doc, provided you get good growth in a few months (which I'm sure you will).
  12. One thing I would advise you try, before you give up, is stay on the meds for 4-5 months despite the side effects. For most people who get the side effects, they go away with time as the body adjusts to being on the meds and re-balances itself.
  13. Oh, I forgot the main reason I read through this thread. Dr. Pauls seems to have done a good job on AndrewYoung's HT, I'd love to be able to watch the results here as months go by. Hope Andrew updates the blog monthly It's always good to find out about another great doc in a world full of the not-so-good ones.
  14. You are, however, annoying folks. Byehair, you're the guy who watches a fight, then when everything is resolved comes in and goes "that's RIGHT! bitch!" while the original participants are standing there scratching their heads wondering who you are and why you're there. "If I wish to give my opinion, I will." Yeah, but if your opinion is to tell others that they can't give theirs, what does that make you? Sometimes, when everyone tells you that you're wrong, it's not a conspiracy - you're really wrong Give it up & move on.
  15. It seems, from reading these forums. that most folks who had a HT heartily recommend them (including myself, heh) while most folks who get systems don't recommend the experience. Make of it what you will
  16. The few grafts that did not shed were growing for me by month 2, so I can believe rafael there. But that's 1 hair growing every 1/2 inch, nothing to write home about. The new stuff won't start growing until later - but it will start growing
  17. Oh yes, grafts did shed with the scabs. A bunch of em. I looked at most of them and it was just the hair part of the grafts, nothing else so I wasn't worried. In fact, in the weeks that followed (the shedding phase) I'd freak out my friends by moving my hand across the scalp and coming up with a bunch of grafts. So I'm a little immature, what can you do As far as ease for scabs, hairfree, how many days post-op are you? 7,8? There's a material difference in how easily scabs will come off between being in your second week and being 2 weeks out. The healing which takes place in those days is fairly substantial. My thinking on the subject was, while the grafts should be seated securely by this time what harm can it do to wait a few more days before getting rid of the scabs? There's no rush, and it was easier later when they were ready to come off. As far as potential damage, I'm apparently one of the early growers and have hair sprouting outta my head as we speak (2.5 months out) so it looks like no damage was done.
  18. That's what I'm wondering, is it the actual Larry David (love the show!) or someone taking the name?
  19. No blood, no problems. I suspect that waiting the two weeks without as much as touching the noggin was the reason the scabs stayed, but after so long they were ready to go on their own. I suspect that if I didn't touch them for another few days they'd have fallen off due to gravity. When I was getting them off, it was quite easy. After soaking the head in the shower for 10 minutes, I pressed on an area of scab and it would all just slide right off. Repeat a few times and voila, a red head peeked out from underneath!
  20. Good luck and have fun growing your hair stu, it's an awesome experience! Dr. Feller is a great doc and I'm sure he hasn't done wrong by ya. What I'm thinking he did was give you a good, mature hairline that will look good now and will look better as you get older. Heal well!
  21. I guess different approaches work. I didn't do anything to the scalp for the firts 2 weeks, after that I got annoyed and massaged it all off in a day. So there's another option for you
  22. I'm a bit bummed. Every post I read by hairobservator cracked me up. I never thought he was serious, just a harmless nut out there in Dutchlantis with a stack of magic brownies The FUE driller was, to me, obviously something he made up to get a laugh and he got several from me. Kudos!
  23. Boy, it sounds like you're in the 1%. Bad luck. Then again, you've had 3 HTs, so perhaps letting go of the hairs that want to go is not such a bad thing? This is, of course, your call, but if I may ask: what were your graft counts and what areas were covered?
  24. Ballpark figure, $12k-$15k. Basically, tuck at least part of that bonus check away Yes, you will need to continue with the meds forever, unless medical science advances to the point that another solution is found. The meds available today are effective at preventing hair loss as long as they're in your system, hair loss is not something you can "cure" because it's a genetic predisposition. Your other options are a) shave your head, b) get a wig or c) ignore hair loss. Sucky, huh?
