  1. I tried creatine and had no accelerated hairloss. Seems safe.
  2. Like jobi said, propecia & minoxidil (rogaine). Most everything else is snake oil.
  3. As long as you live in NY, consider Dr. Feller in Long Island. He's one of the best and you could drive here.
  4. You asked how come Bosley and MHR are still in business if nobody has a good word to say about them. Simple; they advertise a lot. The good HT doctors & clinics tend to work by word of mouth. The surgeons there usually do one procedure per day and even with just word of mouth advertising, they have their hands full. But the downside is, they're just not as well known. Bosley/MHR work for volume - they air flashy infomercials and do 2-3 patients/day/doctor (hence the term "mill"). They butcher a lot of people but the fact remains that they're the only ones known to the general public. 90% of people out there who are thinking of HT think of MHR/Bosley because they simply don't know anyone else who does it and can't tell the difference. At least, not the first time they do it - once they get butchered, they usually smarten up and do their research. Think of the difference between a woodworker who makes custom furniture & Ikea. The woodworker will produce much better stuff at a similar price, but you don't know about him so you go to Ikea. Same principle, except in case of surgery making a bad decision is a LOT more painful.
  5. This is a topic near my heart as I'm at nearly 6 months myself. To be honest, before the HT I was plain bald in the front and now I'm happy, so it's almost surprising to hear that so much more is to come. I was hanging out with some friends I haven't seen in a month or two 2 nights ago; two of them knew I had a HT, and others (friends of friends) did not. We were talking about how much my hair is growing in and after a while, one of the other folks went "what happened to your hair before, did you shave it on a bet?". When I told him I had a HT 6 months before he was genuinely surprised. He couldn't tell. I've been getting similar reactions from other folks. I never tried to hide the fact that I had a HT and never had a problem talking about it, so when sometimes the topic comes up those who weren't clued in usually go "no kidding? so this stuff actually works!" which is great. If nobody can tell now, I don't know what's gonna happen in 6 more months!
  6. Andy Hunt's a scam artist and the Choi technique is, by all accounts, bullshit. They've butchered a good amount of folks in the UK. Do a search on this site for "Choi" and you'll get more detail It's a good thing you're doing your research about it as it will save you a lot of anxiety & even more money.
  7. Fly to the US, you'll pay $500 more for a plane ticket and you'll save about $10,000 on repair work down the line.
  8. Moved on, passed away... DIED! (I'm channeling George Carlin here for a bit, just got his new album.)
  9. For what it's worth, I've been on finasteride for about 6 months now and if anything, my libido spiked. At this pace I'll be out of Kleenex soon. Still hoping the side effects kick in...
  10. If you need a relatively small number of grafts to just cover the places where the scar has become visible, FUE it probably the better option for you. However, if you're going to take the opportunity to go for a full-blown HT, you might as well go with strip as it's cheaper and it allows for a larger session.
  11. Shaving your head by choice is very different from shaving your head out of necessity. You will not understand unless you've gone through it. You think you do, but you don't. Go away.
  12. His site is riddled with Google ads; what he's trying to do is draw traffic to it in hopes of making money from the ads. Pretty transparent scheme. Trouble is, he doesn't know what he's talking about and therefore this isn't the right forum for him to post on. Everyone here will notice and think him at best a salesman; at worst, an idiot.
  13. I know just what you guys mean. I'm just over 5 months out and every time I look in the mirror, I can't help but smile It's great!
  14. Hey, if you want a bunch of yes-folks to rubberstamp everything you say then you're definitely right to be upset. Without disagreement there can be no discussion and there can be no learning. If Copernicus did not find something wrong with the model of the universe around at the time he was alive we'd never have heard of heliocentrism. By the way, in the spirit of lively discussion, I had 3,300 grafts placed in one day by Dr. Feller 5 months ago and it's turning out great. The reason Dr. Limmer told you that 1,500 grafts take 8 hours to place is right there: Christina patiently placed them for 2 days. Dr. Feller had 6 techs working on my noggin in shifts and that's why they did it sooner. Now that I'm on the topic, I would not choose to have a single tech place my grafts for 8 hours. Can fatigue dull the skills in the final 2-3 hours of placing? Can boredom set in and impact how careful he/she is? I don't know. I wouldn't want to find out the hard way.
  15. Dr. Bernstein is a coalition surgeon, I'd really like to know what happened there. Wonder if we could get the doc to comment?
  16. Looks great - this is why H&W is one of the world's top clinics!
  17. Wonder what the UK law thinks about class action lawsuits? Class actions, in part, made some of our own unethical companies (Blockbuster, anyone?) return money to folks and change their business practices.
  18. Social, I recommend that you find a doctor (HT surgeon or a dermatologist) and ask for a prescription for Propecia; thia way you may end up being covered by your health insurance and pay very little. You could also ask them to prescribe Proscar; you can cut the pills into 4 pieces and have the same result even cheaper. Personally, I have a prescription for Proscar and cut each pill into 4. Total cost comes out to $10 per bottle, so it's $3/month. Hard to beat that deal.
  19. Be careful, the UK is famous for having really bad HT surgeons. The first thing the UK forums tell people is to fly to the US for a transplant. I'm not saying Dr. Tan sucks, but I am saying that she learned in a country where HT surgeons suck.
  20. I sent you a private message... it may clear some things up. Feel free to give me a call as well if you'd like to talk things over
  21. Notafraid, keep asking man. The more you ask the better for you, and the better for anyone who reads this thread later while doing their research. We're all happy to help. There are a few things you'll run into in life that are simply true; ignoring them leads to regrets. - Don't run with scissors. - Don't call exes while intoxicated. - Don't go to Bosley. - Don't vote for Bush. Also, don't let location dictate your decision. Would you rather spend $400 more on top of your $10k and get a good result, or save $400 and have to shell out thousands later for a repair surgery?
