  1. I have been using 0.5 mg. avodart once every 4 days for 2 years since my last transplant. I also use 5% rogaine every day. ANY AVODART USERS OUT THERE HAVING SEVERE SIDE EFFECTS MAINLY LOW SEMEN LEVELS AND ERECTION PROBLEMS.I WAS TOLD MY BODY WOULD ADJUST TO THE DRUG BUT IT HAS NOT.. AFRAID TO STOP USING AVODART AS HAIR LOSS WILL PROBABLY RESUME. ANY COMMENTS ABOUT THIS GREATLY APPRECIATED..
  2. GrowPlease. There really shouldn't be anymore shockloss. I can tell you this- as I asked a client of mine who has owned a hair salon in my city for the past 20 plus years. Hair loss can occur if you shampoo too rough. Are the hairs breaking off or do you see the root of the hair? Do not wear a hat!!!! The friction from the hat can break hair, especially if you have fine hair. Stop combing it, don't over style it with excessive heat from a blow dryer. Are you using rogaine? I can tell you from experience that I used to see more than normal hair loss when I would apply rogaine and then shortly after letting it dry I would style with hair products and a blow dryer. The hair was in fact breaking- because the rogaine dries your scalp. Apply your daily treatment of rogaine(if you are using it) a while before you go to bed. Don't apply it in the morning-just night. Hope all is well.. Do me a favor- I see that you are using Avodart-please scroll thru the questions and find mine that is titled AVODART SIDE EFFECTS??? I am experiencing terrible side effects from avodart... let me know what happens with you........later CJS
  3. GREG, I just finished my 3rd transplant. My last session consisted of 1000 FUT on the crown just as the patient in the picture. These are great results! Remember, if your donor hairs are thick then your recipient area will receive greater coverage. If your donor hairs are fine then you probably won't see this kind of coverage. Good luck
  4. I am currently 3.5 months post-op from my 3rd and final transplant. My first one was in Nov. 2004 with a doctor here in El Paso TX. I immediately started taking propecia every day in addition to the 5% minoxidil which I had already been using for 4-5years. I began to notice sexual side effects when I added propecia to my daily routine. I noticed decreased libido and lower semen levels. I continued to take the propecia because I was told it was vital in preventing any further hair loss. I contacted the doctor in El Paso about 5 months post-op and notified him of my side effects. I wasn't feeling normal, and I seemed to have lower energy levels. I noticed that as the semen levels decreased, so did my workouts in the gym. I swear I lost significant muscle mass and some strength. The doctor told me that my body would eventually adjust to the propecia and side effects were found in less than 1% of men. I lowered the dosage of propecia at that time to one pill every other day. I continued propecia every other day along with the 5% minoxidil daily until my second transplant in Dec. 2005 with Dr. Limmer in San. Antonio. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT DOCTOR FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE IN TEXAS AND ARE LOOKING FOR A HAIR TRANSPLANT DOCTOR. Dr. Limmer did 1500 FUT and replaced the propecia with 0.5MG. Avodart- to be taken on wed. and sun. only. I still continued with 5% minoxidil daily. I believe the avodart is even stronger than propecia. My side effects from the propecia never really seemed to get better, and believe it or not the avodart twice a week made the sexual side effects WORSE!! I basically had NO desire to have sex. I contacted Limmer a few months post-op of my 2005 transplant and he lowered the Avodart to one 0.5mg. pill every 10 days along with 5% minoxidil daily. I had my 3rd and final transplant dec. 2006 with Limmer, and am currently 3.5 months post-op. I am still taking 0.5mg Avodart once every ten days and 5%minoxidil twice daily. My current side effects are low semen levels, loss of some body hair on my arms and legs, inabilility to achieve a full erection, low desire for sex. The muscle loss seemed to stop. IS ANYONE OUT EXPERIENCING THE SAME SIDE EFFECTS AS I AM, OR AM I GOING CRAZY????? I know if I stop the avodart all together I will experience hair shedding. I thought about it but then I remember how much I spent on all 3 transplants.....any advice or comments are welcome. Thank you for your time.

  6. HAIRBANK, Thanks for the info. Now that I had someone closely examine my scalp, it sounds like you might be right. The shedding seems to be follow by new very small hairs. Thanx. CJS
  7. I have a question about shock loss. I received 1550 FUT with Limmer in San Antonio, on Dec. 2, 2005. From what I understood about shock loss, the surgery should have caused me to experience noticeable hair loss in the first few weeks, and then around month 4 or 5 I would start to see the grafts coming in and my original hair growing back. These are my 2 Questions. Why was it that a considerable number of my grafts(it seemed like at least half of them) never really fell out after the surgery, but NOW at month 5 post-op I am noticing that some of the grafts along the hairline and temporal areas are shedding? The grafts that never fell out after the surgery just seemed to keep growing(but slowly) Second question, when should you expect shock loss to occur, and when should you recover from it? I am getting a little nervous since I am at month 5 post op and am starting to see some slight shedding.

  9. TRENDSETTER Reference your question about toppik- I am using it also. I have been applying it to the grafted areas, and am waiting for better coverage to fill in and for the shockloss to stop. I asked Dr. Limmer in San Antonio, and was told that toppik would be ok to use, but you need to wait for the scabs to flake off the scalp. I started using it about 30 days after my procedure. I am currently just shy of 5 months post op, and am dealing with the shockloss. The grafts are coming in just fine. Good luck..... CJS
  10. ROBO I just had my 2nd procedure, you need at least 3000- maybe even 3500, trust me. 1500 won't do much for you. Good luck
