I think I have a similar situation to this patient. Would you agree? @hairman22

I would be very happy with those results.

I think your hair looks better .

A good surgeon will come up with a good plan.

1500-2000 grafts is enough in yoour case imo.

Just you need to prepared for more surgery most likley in the future. But who knows the meds may stop that.

If I was you I would go for the surgery

SMP should not fade quickly at all if you’re taking care of it. It’s been 8 months for me and it looks exactly the same.

the only discernible difference is from immediately post SMP when there’s extra ink on your scalp, versus a week later when it’s all healed. Then from there it should be heard before you ever notice a difference

i juts had the 2nd session. Im doing 3 overall.

It looks very good but ill see if it fades again.

If it does then its not looking good.

Usually SMP is used to achieve an overall 'shaved' or 'buzz' look, but it sounds like your goal is to keep growing your hair out and use SMP to add a density effect like a permanent concealer?

It can be done, @EvoXOhiohad some great work done earlier this year to do that. You can see the details in his thread below. But if you are going to do that its important to have a long term plan to keep enough hair on your head to maintain the proper effect. If you continue to lose hair there will be a tipping point where it will stop looking natural. In your original post you indicate that additional hair transplants are not in your plan. -Edit - see your previous reply that you are taking Finasteride, so that's good. If you are taking that and still losing at an unacceptable rate some guys do have some success by switching to dutasteride.

that can easily be covered though when you go back. And it will probably fade as well.

Juts had my 2nd session. It looked great but it fades so quickly with me.

Ill have to wait after the 3rd to see how it is.

It is important not to go too dark though then you will be in trouble later on possibly.

There are other modalities, other than Fin you can try.  PRP, Laser....etc.  And now Fin and Min are available in pill form.  Consult with your doctor and formulate a plan.  Doing transplants in the crown without a medical regimen is just not a good idea. You'll end up chasing the pattern and end up using whatever donor you have left.  If you continue thinning the front, which will likely happen, you'll have nothing left to fix it.

    Been doing Laser on off.

    Started back again.

But i dont see stopping my hairloss but worth a try

I have not thinned in the front in 5 years. Its all trabsplanted apart from forelock which is fine.

My midscalp has quite a few grafts also

  5. Im in two minds to get a transplant next year for my crown.

I had a previous procedure for my frontal 3rd in 2017. 2700 grafts used. It was a  great success.

I am a diffuse thinner with a Norwood 5-6 patten I think. Its very early stages of that & very slow progress. I niticed it back in 2015. Its only noticeable when hair is very short

But the crown has thinned. I cannot take any DHT blockers. Was on fin  for 2 years got sides at the end had to stop.

I have got good feedback from FueGenix & Eugenix. both think around 1200-1500 grafts & will take into account future loss.

Its just its important I take into account future loss.

I also jst had my 1st SMP session which has went quite well. Bt I just feel I dont have enough hair the crown. It has already helped improve the situation though

I did use concealer but I have got tired of it. Makes my head itchy.
