He is lucky he has the donor what if one does not enough donor down the line? For some meds can do a lot in order to improve health of hair and keep whatever they do have even if they are not a suitable candidate for hair transplant.

shouldn't the scalp have this extra bit of flexibility and does fut not take this away ?

how much is the maximum minoxidil one can use each time ? i mean if it is put all over wont this be too much...?

If you got plenty of donor for the supply then you can get another ht if needed down the line but if not and you dont take fin then it would be much more risky...

Excellent! Pls post some pictures of your donor areas before you had the ht Also I hear some docs don't go past the ears for FUE?

I don't understand the difference between fue which most do and dht ? How many grafts were used for the front, mid and crown areas ?

I've been told if i have a hair transplant and don't take fin then the hair i have will be lost and the transplanted hair will remain and it will look like i have hair in patches. Hair maybe lost even if on fin but it is unlikely. Some doctors say this while others leave it to your own choice if you want to take the risk while others say don't have a ht if you don't take fin. Recently i've been told to take fin for atleast a year as it improves hair all over including donor hair. I'm giving it a try to see how it goes but i cannot get my head around taking it long term like 15 years!

My pictures are all over the place but i will put them in order to show the difference. At the moment i'm still on my 4th can of min! i can say i added fin 0.5mg half a tablet and after 1 month i can see a big difference fin has made my hair much thicker. i've had comments from people, 'your hair has gone darker' ' your hair is growing back' 'oh my god your hair is gone so thick' Now with comments like this and i can see the difference myself better then in the pictures. I'm still not sure to go up to 1mg fin or if 0.5mg would be enough for me? I have spoken to a few people in person and all have said to me to stick with the meds stuff as i'm responding well then after a year go for a ht.

Thanks, but the thing is it would take another year to see the results of a ht. I'm thinking of a ht sooner if possible

Thanks, it's not been 4 full months yet, when i started min in first 2 months i used it once a day then in 3rd month i used it twice. This is the 4th month now. it's been around 3and half weeks i have been taking 0.5mg fin everyday. I started off slowly didn't get any sides so started to use meds more. I think the hair looks better then in the pictures especially at the front and overall the hair is thicker and more healthy. I have noticed i'm getting much more grey/white hairs especially on the sides and back (donor area) I don't like these and this is another thing i have to deal with apart from the hair loss. I try to cut these hair out but end up cutting alot of normal hair with them too that's why it looks like i have more thin hair on the sides. This 4 months i've added 300mcg biotin so it's been just over 2 weeks of taking this daily as well. I hope things get better i can see alot of small miniature hair which i hope grow it's these that are causing me to see less scalp then before.

Fin and Min can do alot for keeping the hair you have as well as regrow hair. Not everyone is suitable for a hair transplant but meds can improve things alot. Now i understand what Spex said, 'Surgery is a last resort. Give medical therapy a minimum of 12 months and then assess.' I'm 4 months into meds treatment I and others have noticed a big difference in my hair thickness with regrowth in the crown. If you dont get sides it well worth a try you dont know what is happening under the scalp if you respond well to meds things could only get better.

Stick with the meds if you don't get any side that will be your best bet When i started loosing hair around 24 years of age in the crown i wanted to get a hair transplant to cover it, little did i know about hair loss. I even found a clinic that time who were willing to do a transplant for me. Lucky i did not get it done because now age 35 i have lost much more hair and that would have made no difference and would have messed my limited donor hair which i'm looking to use for the front hair line and add some mid scalp density. Then see later if anything can be done about the crown. I learnt this by coming on this website priority is the front then going towards the back depending on donor supply and amount. Family history can show how you might end up but not always the case. When hair loss gets stable and the pattern is more established then have realistic goals and consider a hair transplant with a reliable doctor.

I'm trying to get confident with fin at 0.5mg but when i read up i don't want to go upto 1mg and sometimes I stop it all together then i start to take it again at 0.5mg it's been about 3 weeks and no sides. I have suffered alot of stress which has affected my labido i hope fin does not make it lower or worse?

Also how can you explain hair growth from area which seemed to be bald?

Many don't want to try meds first like me i wanted to get a hair transplant when i was 25 years old. I was disappointed when the doc [forgot the name] told me to get on meds. This person has saved the donor area and got a very good result without surgery. How can one check if they would have miniaturization and suitable for medical treatment?

Looking very good some respond well, ahem, but I wonder if prp would be worth adding or if fin and min would are enough ? One clinic told me it would take upto a year to see results if any. If there is no risks then I would give prp a go.

It's only the fin I stopped and started because I kept changing my opinion on it. I will keep it going but have to see the results too! Branded meds

Thanks but if I don't try other things I won't know if they would work better i guess it's better to stick with these for a while.

I started using minox once for about 2 months had no sides so started using it twice this past month. I try not to use too much but I think I do because I have to cover crown and top. Started fin a few times then changed my mind stopped it then started it again at 0.5mg daily it's been about 3 weeks. No sides so far so i might go up to 1mg. I will only continue this if I see good results otherwise sides risks and costs would not be worth it for me. So far I seen regrowth in the crown the hair on top looking more thicker and healthy.
