  1. After about 8 years of stressing and working myself up into a state about hairloss, learning, studying and comparing Hair transplants, I've just shaved my head. For the past 2 years, I've had a job which would have enabled me to get a HT with one of the lower-cost surgeons vouched for on here - Cinik, Yaman, etc. I often didn't do it because of threads like this - and trust me, I had flight tickets booked once to get it done (Dr R. Yaman - then I saw his donor areas...) So where am I now, now I'm bald? I'm sitting in work, having had comments, compliments and jokes. But I am relaxed AF about it. I'm not hiding it any more. I'm not getting a fright each time I look in the mirror under strong lights. It's always the same. This thread shows that under bad lighting, or if your style is messed up by weather or something, you're gonna look pretty bad. Back to balding. Back to the guy desperate to hide it. It's not a healthy way to be, let's be honest with that. And you've paid a fair whack of notes for the privilege. What's changed in your mental state? Why else do we actually undergo HT other than to improve our mental state? Can the guys who have had HT surgery truthfully say that they're constantly relaxed about it now? For me, maybe it will change - maybe I'll go back on it and get a HT soon... but right now, man am I thankful I didn't waste the time money or effort. Each man to his own preference, but for me.... comparing how I felt 4 days ago throwing in fibres in the works toilet cubicle and hating how I looked, to today..not thrilled with it, but not tense and definitely nowhere near as bad as I thought it would look... I'm done with stressing about it.
  2. Looking great but I'd be concerned with that donor too after 5 mo...though tbh nobody without knowledge of HTs cares how the back of your head looks. One thing I'd say is that there is a famous case of Yaman ruining a donor with some pretty nasty scars, so definitely don't think his clinic are particularly careful with it. End of the day, results look pretty solid so enjoy!!!
  3. I think it's worth mentioning that we are in a kind of echo chamber, or vacuum rather, in which we are finely attuned to looking at hair density and instantly critiquing it. Even if it's the illusion of density, or even obviously sub-optimal density hair, the average person isn't going to notice. One of the greatest reassurances of hair loss which everybody ignores is that those who notice most are those who suffer it too. If a HT takes the attention away from obvious bald spots and exposed widows peaks, the patient won't look balding in most peoples eyes.
  4. God, even if I was desperate to buy CBD oil based on a video some marketing account posted.... That video would put me right off. Only time I've ever had regrowth from natural things, I was taking a mental dose of supplements which was just financially unsustainable, showering cold daily, and abstaining from ejaculating. Zinc Picolinate, He Shu Wu, Niacin, Vit D3, Nettle Root, Pumpkin Seed oil extract, topical argan oil, topical Emu oil, ginger rinses once a week, scalp massage and daily mega dosing L arginin. Definite regrowth but to hell with doing that every day, was a nightmare.
  5. Hi guys, That's interesting - hadn't realised Civas prices had gone up. I am curious though as to the google search results for the others - I'm not finding anything too negative about them, aside from Cinik and Yaman, both of whom are approved here. Maybe it's my search, could you please provide some links if there's anything glaring you've found? Of particular interest is the Smile Clinic currently - they don't seem as much of a hair mill as Cinik, for example.
  6. Drs Cinik, Karadeniz, Yaman, Civas, Saifi.... Elithair, Smile clinic.... All much under prices of established surgeons, all posting fantastic results....
  7. Honestly, I feel I see more good results from budget transplant surgeons than terrible results. Actually, my top 3 worst results I have seen by a budget transplant surgeon is one which is recommended on here.... With the amount of guys getting HT's these days, particularly in turkey and particularly from "cheap" clinics, I'd expect there to be much more of an outcry about it, much more terrible results being posted. I've researched and waited for years to go for my HT, always anticipating a tidal wave of horror stories...it's never emerged. In my opinion, there are too many non HT surgeons trying to make money through HT surgery, principally by appearing like experts whilst pedalling more expensive clinics. Clearly, there are bad surgeons and terrible practices in this industry, nobody doubts that. But this "high price transplant fettish" doesn't hold up to what we're seeing. If the surgery involves an experienced Dr designing the hairline, creating the insertions and coordinating an experienced team of techs, the results appear generally good - whether that's 1700 euro surgery or 35000. Keen to hear answers and other opinions. I've been around here and other forums long enough to have a degree of confidence in what I say above.
  8. Anyone know what Saifi currently charges? Would be interested as an alternative to Istanbul..
  9. Best review i've read yet in terms of entertainment!
  10. Can't believe how red and generally freshly done that still looks at the 2 weeks mark.... Has the Dr recommended anything to reduce redness? Is that generally considered normal?
  11. I always take the cost thing with a pinch of salt tbh. recommended surgeons on here are all well and good, but the recommendation is paid for and I've seen plenty of sub-par results from surgeons recommended here. Initially, I wanted to save and go for a top surgeon, but what I've realised is that even the top guys can screw up, or more so, the characteristics of your donor etc play a deciding role, more than the surgeon can. My thought process to it now is - Hair loss sucks > Do something about it > be aware of risks and that there are no guarantees > See HT as a "nice to have", not something which will "save you and who you are" > Don't invest too much into it > If I really want to, do it, but don't sink all I have into it > Be smart, do research and look at results, ensure a real Dr is involved in at least some stages of surgery > If I do it, I'll do it, I'll do it on a budget & accept that a bad result means I just shave my head. So it might come good, then I have some hair and a bit of money left over. Or it's not great but I still didn't sink all I have into it or take credit to do it. Can shave my head and invest in other aspects of myself. Both better options than the potential crap result and no savings. FWIW I'm regularly more impressed with some of the budget Turkey clinic results than any of the UK surgeons who charge at least 3* the same.
  12. What? Please explain that one, that's contrary to all logic...
  13. Bill, I'm considering a procedure with Dr Yaman, however this and another thread which I am sure you are aware of (although no admin has answered on it as yet I don't think). I'd like to know whether you still stand by your recommendation of Dr Yaman? I'm am 50/50 whether to book with him, this donor area terrifies me. Surely, we can expect better from suggested surgeons? That isn't just a " can go wrong" case, that's surely a " absolutely no thought put into surgery case". If you were going for an HT now, would you confers Yaman? Based only on results.
  14. Hi guys, thanks all for the input. I think I'm starting to rule FUT out anyways, I'd rather have the option to shave down as things progress. Tbh I'm very unlikely to get on fIN unless I find a topical. Re donor, always been told.i have super thick hair. The above pics are freshly cut and with quite a sunburn, when it's grown out it's as below... I don't think it's incredible but donor area could be a lot worse I guess...
  15. Very good advice, that is for that. The pics aren't great, I'd say I was NW 5 already though for sure sadly. Tbh I would probably prefer FUT but there is nobody I can afford in Europe who offer them. The FUE surgeon I'm speaking with is well known for doing mega sessions which is why I'm considering it. 2500 grafts wouldn't make a difference to me I don't think
  16. So I've been a long term poster and lurker on here and other forums, had a few consultations with different surgeons, spoke to others in depth, and would say I was pretty knowledgeable about HTs, what to expect etc. Regardless, I'd like to get some other opinions, gladly from admins or other members who've been here a while, about getting an HT. I'm very close to signing up for one with a listed surgeon on here, I've seen great work by him, I've seen not so great work though too, though there seems to be mitigating circumstances on a few of those. I'm posting some pics underneath and would love your input based on the following info + any questions you feel I should ask before signing the dotted line. I'm 29 - NW 5? 4? No family history of MPB, very high amount of body hair (i.e. high DHT I would suspect). 4k grafts (I'll focus on frontal 2/3 density and consider future HT or shaving when i'm older) Use minox and Nizoral. I've never taken Fin and side effects terrify me, but slowly part of me is tempted to just try it, though I'll be pissed to do so as rejected it for hte last 8 years (i.e. been losing hair since 21) My questions to the forum: How much density do you think is realistic? Thoughts on donor area quality? Fin aside, how can I limit future loss? If you were me, would you go for Hair Transplantation, how many grafts, what would you consider? Pics 1/2 show front, 3 / 4 crown & donor with longer hair, 5&6 donor with short hair (it's the light, not an FUT scar), pic 7 in harsh light with kinda greasy hair - what I'm working with in terms of area needing to be covered. Before I pull the trigger on this, I'm really keen to hear some other opinions, so please tell me your thoughts.
  17. How is that possible to lose transplanted hair? As in, did it grow well initially? Or do you feel it was never actually transplanted correctly?
  18. Wow, now that was an unexpected contribution after the previous posts....
  19. Nah not at all, salient question. Yeah it's certainly a concern, that said , I'm exchanging private messages with a guy who is absolutely loving his result and swears by Dr Yaman. I've mentioned and linked this thread to his rep im writing with and hoping for an answer which clears it up. Then again HypeHair has just kinda worried me again too. Admins again very quiet on this.... Starting to lose a lot of trust in this site.
  20. I had seen a couple of very good results from him a year or two ago, reviews of the actual visit and process have been positive. And if I'm honest, i'm not a massively high earner so very price sensitive - sadly don't have the 15k handy for a Belgian dr here in Europe. To be honest, I'm seldom massively impressed with any results (feriduni and HW aside) so if I'm not going to be blown away by it, I'd rather get something done I can work with without massive debt. I need coverage and an acceptable hair line. If Yaman is vouched for by this site, I'd expect him to be a decent bet. That's why I want clarification on this, and it would help to hear from admins.
  21. I'm quite concerned by it. I'm actually in talks with Dr Yaman regarding a procedure, was offered the procedure by Dr Yaman himself, or by techs only for a cut price. Doesn't seem very usual for accepted drs. Very keen to hear any decent reportsof Dr Yaman and see some good results, if he's here, I assume it's for reasons more than "He paid his memebership dues" Again, would love to hear from a forum admin on this? Anyone?
  22. Anyone else think it's totally ridiculous that none of the forum admins have posted anything regarding this result? I called them out on it back in November, nothing. They have a responsibility to recommend genuinely good Drs, not just those who pay them. Then when a result like this comes up, they're gone... If the OP has had contact with them personally then I retract the above, otherwise I think this deserves more attention Anyone have any good results from Yaman?..
  23. Results like this are why I hardly come on here any more. Used to think this site was a fantastic resource for informed decision making, then you realize that the recommended Drs. are just those willing to pay them their fees and give them a free tour of their clinics. Patient photos don't lie though, and sadly I feel like a lot of Dr Yamans cases are blood on the hands of HRN admins for ever recommending this guy as a surgeon. Hope you're just a late grower and keeping my fingers crossed for you. I'd try and contact Yaman again (though heard that's easier said than done too). Good luck with it.
  24. Really impressed with this. How long following the OP were you able to return to activity? Did you return to Dr. F to remove the stitches?
