  1. When I was in contact with the clinic via email this year I was looking for dates from them around the 12th of Feb. They offered me dates in March but due to work I could not make it. I eventually booked for 17th of April. Thats the kind of timeline I think your looking at, please keep in mind your first day there will be for a consulatation, shaving of the head and drawing the hairline. Then you'll have your surgery day or days and final wash day so at a minimum you'll need to be there for 3 days. I arrived on a tuesday night, consultation Wednesday, surgery Thur & Fri, wash day Saturday and I flew home that afternoon. So i was there for a total of 4 nights and got 5000 grafts. The Asmed clinic (or Dr Korays clninc if you will) is in Turkey. Its a good alternative for European patients who cant afford to go to the US. Dr Koray charges 2.5 euro per graft. My 5000 cost 12,500 euro. I opted for prp so that and the other medication cost an additional 600. With hotel cost added in it was 13,500 excluding flights iirc. The cost includes pick up from the airport and transport to and from the hotel to the clinic each day. As you have said you are after joining this site recently so please do a lot of research of the pros and cons of HTs, the Drs available etc etc. There is much more for you to discover before you decide on Dr Koray just yet.
  2. Great choice man. You are in great hands with Dr Koray. Can I ask how many grafts you are having done? In the weeks before you can get very nervous, thoughts about shaving the head and people asking questions and getting looks etc afterwards can cause a lot of anxiety and stress but its a doddle. The thoughts of these things are worse than actually getting it over and done with. I will give you a golden piece of advise I wish I had gotten before I went. You have seen those pics of patients with the hairline drawn before a HT especially if you have seen a lot of Dr Korays photos, well have a very definite hairline in mind and planned out before you go. Have it visualised so well you can draw it with your finger and show Dr Koray exactly what you want it to be like, this drawing and planning of the hairline right before the op is the most important part of a HT for me. In terms of meeting your expectations and having no regrets this stage is critical. Also a wide bucket hat so large it can be placed on your head so that it only touches the forhead and back of your head is a good option for when you go home, that or a bandanna. It reduces the stress of having people stare at you in the airports etc, its not essential but can be done without damaging the grafts if planned properly.
  3. When I first emailed the clinic I found a few days delay in getting a reply. At first I was a little worried but I would later find that this is not because the clinic employs mainly non english speaking staff but because the sheer volume of emails recieved from all over the world is staggering. The clinic is always booked three months in advance, minimum. About 4 transplants are done in a week minimum I would guess, by a multitude of staff. During my visit to the clininc there were four other guys there at the same time, an American guy and two Spanish guys and an Italian guy who was finished that day and I was only there 3 days. The translator who was with me in the operating room was the same translator who answered all the clinincs english emails, I think. There is a reason they are so busy and its because they are very professional and lookafter their clients so well their good reputation spreads by word of mouth.
  4. This is looking very good Yaz and you still have a minimum of 4 months of growth left before you reach the 12 month mark and some even say the full results are at the 15-18 months mark. Your right side looks to have filled in better and its got an overall balanced look. You no longer have high temple of the look of hairloss but look like a youngman with a full head of hair. As for the curly hair have you ever considered using a hair straightener? I used one before my hairloss got bad and its a quick and easy tool to style hair and keep it looking neat. Be careful though, I'm not sure if hair straightening is good for hair in general let alone for transplanted hair but in my non hair thinning areas it never was a problem for me. I used it at a very low heat setting so not to damage hair. Some people have burned hair off by having it on too high a setting, but personally I doubt the heat transfers to the graft or damages it but do your own research on it. Anyway I am happy for you and as I'm 1 month post op I hope to be happy with my result like you one day.
  5. Thanks for the reply. I wonder why a lot of docs suggest patients take on Minox so soon after the HT (2 weeks) given what you have said?
  6. Hi guys My Doctor recommends three months after the HT is the time to start minox but fin should be started straight away. Most docs say two weeks is a good time to start Minox. Its interesting to see the different suggestions. I am one month post op and wondering should I start on FIN and Minox, I've already ordered some promox and it will arrive Monday but I wondering wether to start straight away or wait for the 3 months mark and follow my Docs advise which is usually sensible. As mentioned above there seems to be conflicting information about the best time to start Minox, and maybe my doc is overly cautious so I decided to ask you guys. This is the exact statement about Minox on the document my Doc gave me I think I will eventually start at the three month mark no matter what because I have seen some HT results at the 12 month mark without fin and minox and they don't look as good as those with the products. WHat does HRN.com think? is it ok to start now or should I wait.
  7. Hi Cloudy. You look like your gettin good growth. Congratulations. Can I ask about your comments on Minox? Why have you decided one year after the HT before you start using it? Was this the doctors advise or your own choice? and did your doctor give you any advise regarding taking Fin? My Doctor recommends three months after the HT is the time to start minox but fin should be started straight away. Most docs say two weeks is a good time to start Minox. Its interesting to see the different suggestions.
  8. Thanks for the reply Denny. Fin for 15 years. Thats a long time. Did it have a positive effect early on and then stop workng over time? Did you suffer any side effects from fin? Also, have you ever used Minox?

  10. Yes. I asked specifically for 5000. I think less was suggested when I sent him my photos but not much, 4400 or 4800 or something. I have a large head so I wanted as much as possible for my first HT. He said I have good donor and a total of 7768 grafts possible so I have just under 3000 left. Whats making me a little anxious is I had a tuft of hair at the front which is holding strong but my temples and behind that have gone. Dr Koray grafted around that patch of hair so its vital it holds strong. I am not on fin or minox but was considering trying it for maybe 12months. Dr Koray suggestes fin but says its entirely up to the patient, he also said the sides are a little higher than the 2%. A document I was given suggests not using Minox until 3 months after the op. Is this normal or could I start it sooner? I think if fin and minox help the health of the grafts it might be worht the sides for a 12 month period to get the most from my grafts.
  11. Dr Koray Erdogan. I had 5000 grafts. Hoenstly I think we are in the most emotional part of the journey right now and it only natural to worry about every little thing. Dr Koray told me grafts a certain amount of hair per cm2 so I should get the same result as all his other patients and he has some impressive results. When looking at some of his previous patients phots journeys I can see similar progress. Not vey dense right after the operation but good final results. I read this from one of the mods on here also. Some hairs are frozen and dont grow or fall out early on until the shedding phase. I saw quite a few hairs not growing beside hairs that grew. Most of my new hairs have shed now. The more photos I study the more I have to remember that lenght accounts for a lot. Hairs will double up over the scalp with some lenght and hair being brushed over the scalp and those multiple grafts are not showing there worth early on. I think hair naturally is also he thinnest at the point it emerges from the scalp and when you have some lenght and shampoo it will thicken whatever growth you have allowed your hair for a better result. Some of Dr Korays results are here and you can see some this post ops turn into very impressive results. FUE Gallery - Dr Koray Erdogan
  12. Denny are you using Minox and fin? When did your shedding stop? I see you started around the two week mark and some more at three weeks. By what time had all your new hair shed? I am curious to know becoase I am only a few weeks behing you and in that stage at week 3 now.
  13. I bought a shampoo called Devine hair shampoo from the same company that make the devine hair oil which has got some good reviews although I don't think it does much for hair loss. Its free from SLS, SLES, fragrance and Sodium Chloride. Its made in the uk and you can buy it here Buy Natural Hair Loss Treatments And Hair Loss Remedies Online With Divine Herbal Hair Oil For Men And Women Myabe its a good option for you Yaz. Its not that expensive either
  14. Hi Yaz, how are things going? I just seen your last comments about Nizoral. What advise was give to you against its use and bad effects on transplanted hairs? I have used this once sine my HT and am a little worried to rad this. Also can I ask when how soon after the operation did you hairs fall out. 2 weeks, 3weeks or a month? and did they fall out altogether or was it gradual loss of hairs at different times over a few weeks?
  15. I just had a 5000 graft FUE megasession with Dr Koray in Turkey. 2500 on two days. Its a long day for both, usually 8-5:30 each day and Dr Koraly has the clinic running in such an efficent fashion that you are usually spening 85-90% of that time having the work done. Then you have a meals, hairwashes and reshaves etc but its done so quickly and efficently that your stress/pain/tiredness and all the things that come with having a HT are kept to a minimum. I can't express how impressed I was with the clinic. I'm from Ireland and have been to the UK and States before and I know there is an opinon of Turkey being a less developed country with some dubious surgeons but Koray is not one of them and his clinic is as good if not better than anything you will find in the US or UK. I said in another thread that I find it hard to imagine a clininc better set up for HTs as Dr Koray has the whole building is designed just to accomidate HTs and I stand by those comments. Some might say its actually overkill (in a good way) as you have about 7 nurses and the doc in the room with you at various times, all working on either your head or grafts. Its very impressive.
  16. Interesting opinions. I asked becaue I am post op and waiting for the hair to fall but it looks like even if it was longer it would not be dense and the scalp would show. On closer inspection I can see some of transplanted hairs did not increase in lenght or grow at all like some of the others. I read elsewhere on this site that its normal for them to be in a shock state since they have been plucked from your head and moved to another area. Looking at some patient photos that are relevant to my doc I can see similar thin post op looking growth in the 2-3 weeks directly after the transplant and a lot of these go on to produce good results. I think although there is growth straight after the operation and before the shedding of the hair its not normal growth. A lot of hairs are in a state of shock and not growing, the double, triple and multiple grafts may not be realising there full potential and hair in general I think is thicker with lenght and shampoo gives the longer hair a better apperance of fullness than it an give to short hair and there is more to work with. Or at least thats what I'm telling myself. Trying to stay positive
  17. Thanks for sharing. The result is great and very age appropriate. I have a couple fo questions. Were you advised to take fin, use minox and nizoral and did you take that advise? Do you have any pictures of the immediate post op scalp so we can see the graft placement?
  18. I have a question for guys in the know and those who have had a HT or two I'm about 12 days post op, so I'm in that short period of time where the grafts are in place and growing before they shed and go into hibernation for a few months. My question. Are the hairs I'm seeing grow now and indication of my final results except the hairs will be obviously longer with the final result. To make it clearer what I'm asking is can I expect more from these grafts when they reappear from hibernation or is it just lenght? I have heard that immediate post of grafts sometimes dont grow, they stay as they are before shedding. Do they return stronger and thicker? and the double, triple and multiple grafts are pretty much impossible to spot now. Are they not happening immediate post op and become more visible at the full growth stage? I'm just a little anxious lookng at my grafts now that the final result will not be dense enough. Can I expect more thickness and more from the non single grafts or will they look the same as they do now before they shed, just with more lenght.
  19. I was there two weeks ago for my HT. Like you I was very impressed by the Clininc and staff. The whole building it tailor made for hair transplants. The ground floor reception area, the upper floor with Dr Korays office where you have your grafts calculated. The lower ground floor with the salon to shave your head and wash your hair and the canteen and then the basement floor with the operation rooms which is a sterile envirmoent. When I was there I had anywhere from 4-7 nurses in the room with me. For extractions your in a sittng position with one nurse holding your scalp tight whilst another extracts the grafts, then you have a translator with in case you need to ask for more anesthetic, then you can hear in the background nurses counting the grafts. The whole operation is very efficent. Your blood pressure is measured, your blood sample is taken for tests and for PRP if you opt for it and your donor wiped down with a sterile liquid and your bandaged up. Dr Koray spares no expense for staff and the building. The operation rooms are so well made they could be used for a more complicated medical procedure than a hair transplant. The entire building has strong wifi, the offices are all kitted out with the latest Apple computers, there are camers in each operating rooms so Dr Koray can watch from his office, he showed me operations in progress during my first meeting with him. there are LCD tv's on a crane type arm that swing down so you can watch movies during your operation I'm from Ireland and have been to many medical buikdings in Dublin and the UK. The building I work in is 3 years old and is the latest in modern building technology which harnesses green energy for our datacentre. So I know a good building when I see one and let me tell you the Dr Korays Asmed clinic is state of the art. Its as good as anything you wil find in the UK and US and one of the cleanest and most modern buidings I have seen. Actually I find it hard to believe a building anywhere else exists that beats it in terms of being tailor made for hair transplants.
  20. This is interesting to me because I'm a couple of weeks post op and wondering whether or not to start Fin and Minox. I'll say your results are not all they should be. Were the 3000 grafts put mainly in the hairline or all over (crown and vertex)? Would you do anything different? like start on fin Minox? Why did you drop off fin? was it due to sides or something else?
  21. I have been watching your results and I think you are on track. Yes the temple areas need to fill in more but i think in the next two months may be you will be fine, which will be sbout the 8-9 months mark. But yes, 12-15 months is the time I was told to see full results. Hopefully we will all have the results we desire at 12 month mark, we are all in this together guys I am only a week post op, how I wish I was at 7 months.
  22. 3 months in and it looks like you are getting some minor regrowth. At 3 months this is a good sign I think. You might have a presentable result at 6 months based on this evidence. I would say at 8 months you will have a good cosmetic result and will be able to show off your hair. Dr Korays patients usually have good early growth and I'm hoping for the same. I'm 7 days post op from Dr Koray.
  23. I had 5000 FUE grafts with Dr Koray Erdogan. I am in good health as I do a lot of sports so heart failure never even entered my mind. Like many people on here I had thousands of anxious thoughts and stress and doubted myself many times prior to the surgery. Right up until the morning of the surgery my mind was going in a thousand directions about whether I am making the right decision or not. Like anything the waiting and anticipation is worse than the actual process of having a HT. I will not say it was a breeze but I wont say it was horrible either. Its a draining and tiring procedure because you have a lot of stress but when your going through it and afterwards you look back and many of the fears you had were in your head. I had a great Doctor with state of the art facilaties and staff. The entire building Dr Koray has created is tailor made for hair transplants, every single thing is accounted for. I cannot express in words how impressive a set up he has. Aslong as you pick the right Doctor and clearly outline what you want I think you will be fine. Have you any history or heart conidtions?
  24. I don't know anything abouot these doctors but the work looks very good early post op. They extracted a lot of grafts and covered a lot of critical areas. I think in 12 months you will have a great result. I wish you good growth my friend.
