A 24 year old male with history of hair loss for the past 5 years presented to us with NH Grd III baldness. He wanted to restore the lost looks with the help of surgical treatment only. He underwent Bio FUE TM procedure and 4130 follicles (1920 grafts ) were transplanted. The surgery was uneventful. The patient got good results and is now very happy after 8 months.
Wanted to share a review of a recent study, the first ever to attempt to measure the effect of a hair transplant on other people's perceptions of the recipient. Here is a brief synopsis:
A recently published study is the first to measure the perceived benefit of hair transplantation on a patient’s age, attractiveness, successfulness, and approachability – key factors that play an important role in workplace and social success. The pilot study, published in the
Journal of the American Medical Association Facial Plastic Surgery
, found that hair transplant recipients were perceived by others to be 3.6 years younger following their hair restoration surgery. The data indicate that the person’s attractiveness, successfulness, and approachability also showed statistically significant positive changes as a result of hair restoration surgery.

This 37 year old was a class 2. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. This patient still had a lot of hair, but was uncomfortable with the present state of his hairline, which was starting to recede and thin in the frontal 1/3 of his scalp. He wanted to be proactive and augment the hairline to add some density just in case he continued to thin. I explained to him that we need to take his age, present degree of hair loss and possible further hair loss into consideration. Given those factors, it would be best to keep some temple recession so that he will look good at 37 and also look good as he ages. I explained that there was a possibility that he could lose more of his own hair. If that was to happen, the transplanted hair would be able to stand alone and still look natural, but he would need another procedure to bring it back to the way it looks now.
He had a total of 2,164 grafts. The break down was as follows: 1,048 single hair, 998 two hair grafts and 118 three hair grafts. I used a significant amount of single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural hairline. This action will allow him to comb his hair without anyone detecting that he has had anything done. These are his results 15 months post-op. This patient is extremely happy with his results.
This hair restoration patient is in his late 50's and really upset with his baldness.

Excellent healing and recovery with great expectations.
Just took a new photo 2 years after getting my procedure done and would like to share my results.
1st pic - Day before surgery
2nd pic - 1 year later
3rd pic - 2 years later
These results are, for the most part, without using Finasteride or Minoxidil. I've been on and off with Fin and might continue after I get some health issues out of the way.
Overall I'm very satisfied with the procedure and want to do a second one, since my vertex is now thinning. I was told you can do 3 procedures from the same donor area.
Comments and questions are welcomed.
29 yo man with AGA NW II/III, wanted to start the restoration of his hair line. He underwent a 2070 FUT procedure about two years ago and is very happy with his denser and natural looking hair line.
This 46 year old suffered from years of progressive hair loss. His objective was to cover as much of his bald scalp as possible. We harvested 3100 grafts and the photos display the grafts intraoperative and the hair growth at 9 months. We're also displaying the donor area as well-before and after.
We are presenting a 53 year old man who had an earlier procedure several years ago at another facility. He was content with the hair line position and simply wanted more coverage. Our objective was to moderately increase the frontal density but also to allocate coverage posteriorly while working within a determined graft count (and budget). The results shown are from 9 months following an FUT of 2200 grafts.
This gentleman with Norwood stage 3 male pattern hair loss was not successful with any oral or topical remedies. He was aware that his condition could worsen and together we mapped out a conservative hairline.
We spent a fair amount of time discussing everything he may expect with a hair transplant, and performed a follicular unit transplant, harvesting 2606 grafts from an elliptical donor strip. We reserved the thicker 2 and 3 hair grafts for density, posterior to the finest grafts in the hairline.
We're trying to demonstrate the natural hairline as well as the thickness from dense packing more posteriorly.
The photos were taken 5 months post procedure.
