  1. For the same price you can go to a world class surgeon like (Shapiro/Hasson+Wong/Rahal). I wish I had checked here before wasting my first 3 procedures at a crappy clinic. Bosley is a joke. It's like going to a random olive garden (or other chain restaurant) and expecting a famous chef to be preparing your food. You want to know the exact surgeon you are getting is the MAN/WOMAN for the job. Bosley is just a name. It's a who knows what you'll get kind of thing. You've come to the right place to research the best surgeons and hear from actual patients who just want to help each other. Welcome to the community!
  2. I would wait at least a week, then keep it very lose and be careful until you are sure the grafts are firmly planted. Anything sooner than four days would be major mistake in my opinion. It's not just dislodging grafts but you have to worry about swelling as well. Depends how long you wear it too. I think for a short bit would be ok if you are careful. I have always wore a hat home from my procedures, so that is no biggie. It is wearing it for a long period of time I think you worry about swelling and dislodging. Be very careful taking it on and off. Even after the 10 days (when grafts should be safely planted) I would periodically take it off throughout your shift so it can breathe a bit, but there are different opinions on that. I would error on the side of caution. You can always do in bathroom stall for privacy.
  3. I got about 200-300 from mine. I forget the exact count.
  4. If you can't see someone spending over an hour to respond to your questions and concerns as help then your problems are much bigger than simply being overly anxious to get a hair transplant. So, it's only help if you get the answer you want right? Others helped you because they told you what you wanted to hear? You asked about graft count and I commented on the importance of having enough density to blend with what is a total absence of MPB according to you. Maybe 500 is not enough -- maybe it is. You asked if it would be unnatural and I commented on the fact that there is a good chance it won't be. As a stranger who cares, I asked you to consider if it is going to be worth it. Matter of fact I responded to your exact inquiries in most of what I said, albeit most of it detailed, but relevant to your question. I could also tell you widow's peak is probably a bad idea, but what's the point right. I didn't comment on your dr. because I couldn't look at enough of his work. Regardless of whether or not you think I helped you, saying I'm a morale dampener after giving you intelligent advice just makes you look ignorant.
  5. Thank you Mickey... I appreciate your perspective as well and enjoy following your thoughts on FUE. As for photos... I'm not sure how much time people spend looking at photos other than from the very best dr's. If I were to only look at Hasson/Wong, i would think the average person had a really good chance at a great result -- their risk is minimal. But, I doubt that it is their average result -- I'm sure it's comparable but of course they will pick their best patients. Photos also don't reveal critical details that you simply only see in person. Now when we look at results from some random clinic -- which people often pick because it's cheap or close to them -- the results are often poor or there are like 3 photos with poor quality. I also use the graphic design analogy because even crappy designers can have good results now and then. We tend to draw ourselves to the good results and ignore the bad ones. We think I'm going to be like THAT guy. On a side note... I could show plenty of results where the patient is happy and proud of their work that looks 100% obvious it's a transplant. One could argue that what they got is still better -- but it's not always. How many people do we know (celebrities, etc.) that have gotten some surgery and think they look great, yet look horrible. I don't really direct any of these comments to you, but just saying on matter of discussion. I think part of our responsibility in this forum is helping others see both sides of the coin. Just like you warn people about strip... It's true... I have a large donor scar that I wouldn't have had if I did FUE. Now I have to worry about it showing even with longer hair. That is the nature of the beast. I plan to put hair in it (more $$$). With my upcoming surgery I will have spent around $20,000. Yet I could argue strip let's me get more donor and so on and so on. It's good to have more perspectives.
  6. Morale dampener? You really are delusional aren't you? I'm trying to do you a FAVOR. Maybe if you end up having a BAD result you will end up seeing that. I took a lot of time (my personal time I could be doing other stuff) to try to help you out and give you another perspective so you make an informed decision or possibly avoid a mistake. My answers were very detailed and I could easily back up everything I'm saying with tons of examples, but I won't bother at this point. I respect others like Mickey who can see where I'm coming from even if they don't agree on all my points. I've had 5 procedures over the past 11 years. I know what this decision is all about and what comes with it. I gave advice based on research AND personal experience and realize my opinion is just to be taken along with others and not absolute, but you should weigh it if your desire was really for truth and not under confirmation bias. You can't see that it's hard to go against the grain and tell someone something that they might not want to hear because you think it will help them. It was purely to help you. You started off this thread being rude and I answered anyways because this subject is too important. You start talking about unnatural results and people get uncomfortable. They have to confront their own work and whether or not people really notice it. I'd say many people are wrong to think people NEVER notice. We tend to have a false sense of ourselves. The reality is you want the yes answer... I see these people all the time.. They will ask five dr's until one tells them yes you should have a procedure. You want confirmation that surgery is a good idea and that it will solve all your problems. So to say I'm a morale dampener just shows your incredible ignorance to everything I've explained. You want to defeat my points, then do it logically. You should be thanking me.
  7. ok to clarify my comments... I had a typo... It should have said if you do not have proper density, you will have thin hair and right behind that super thick hair. You need to have proper transition... Since you mentioned having budget limitations and possibly not getting the graft count you want, this was relevant. Further just because one person says no one can detect their hair transplant, it doesn't negate the fact that MOST hair transplants are detectable, even good ones. It depends who is looking of course. I was with my first wife for five years and she didn't know until I told her, but people who know others with them typically know what to look for and will be able to tell.. and keep in mind we are talking about favorable results... I'm talking about people who don't get favorable results... Yup there are tons and tons... Matter of fact most feedback you get on other sites is to not get a transplant and all the horror stories about it. This site is already biased in the fact that it's generally regulared by people who generally believe in transplants -- exceptions exist of course. I'm not saying people shouldn't get them. I'm glad I got mine, but it's a lot of stress, money, upkeep, and risk. If you can't look at the 1000s of hair transplant photos online and tell that most of them look like transplants, then I just don't what to tell you. I've seen 1000's from both good and bad surgeons -- most all have some sign of transplant. So one could argue that as long as you go to the best surgeon it's cool... Yeh it ups your chances. Every surgery has risks, and creating a whole new hairline has more risk then doing some fill in on your crown or corners for example. It's not about whether you are level 1,2,3, etc. It's the same thing you would tell someone who has a tiny bump on their nose... Do you really want to risk having a concaved nose, just for that little bump. I'm probably one of the few people on here who warn people about transplants and if you do your research you will see even good surgeons have bad results. If I was going to risk it I would go to Bisanga or Feriduni since you want FUE. I don't have a chip on my shoulder. I have a hot young wife 10 years my younger and no complaints from her. I have another surgery again in july with Shapiro, so I do support it, but only for people who really want to take the risk because the reward will negate it. You have to decide that of course. My recommendation is don't do it or at least wait, but that's just me. As far as naturalness.. using 1 hair grafts alone does not ensure naturalness... You have hairline shape, macro and micro irregularities, density, graft direction, hair groupings, incision size and depth (possible scarring/pitting) - all which can go wrong. Temple work is especially difficult to obtain natural results. You have other factors like hair caliber which is also a dead give away if you have don't have favorable characteristics. Unless you select the hairs from the nape or something, you are likely to have thicker caliber hairs in the front.
  8. I see lots of people get SMP on their scars only to want hair transplanted into it later. Seems like a waste.
  9. If you are not suffering from MPB... I would say definitely don't get a transplant... You could get an unnatural result and be self-conscious for the rest of your life when you have a perfectly good head of hair. Do you really want to question what people are thinking about every single time you are having a conversation with them? You should think long and hard about your decision. Bad results are very common and unless you are REALLY unhappy with how your hair looks, I would say you should reconsider. The change you are making is relatively minor with the side of effect of changing your completely natural hairline. If you were doing just corner work, i would say maybe, but bringing down your hairline... I have seem some awful results. And if you don't want to go low on density when you are going to have thick hair behind it.. .. There will be no gradual change.. It will stand out like a sore thumb.
  10. Cloning is sort of available, but only in India. I would wait until it's more tested and other dr's are using it. I messaged you on the other doc since there is some wonky stuff going on where you can't say certain people's names because the docs cry about it and want to limit freedom of speech.
  11. I'm surprised not to see these on your site Dr. Cooley. I think it would really up your portfolio which doesn't seem to have too many photos.
  12. Cheating on??? No, no, this is business. This is your life and you have to pick the best doctor for you. Personally I'm not a fan of a Umar's work. Some of it looks great and some of it looks really bad. But, for BHT, he is the guy to go to in the USA in my opinion. I've been to Epstein and he is decent, but I think for BHT, I would stick with Umar since it seems to be his specialty. The concerns with BHT are legit and there is not much to say about it. You could get 0% yield, it does grow in cycles, it does look unnatural. These are all true. I think you are likely to have some minor dotting just from photos I've seen (of his and other's work), so if you have a sagging neck, this might be one more thing to make you self conscious. I've consulted with Umar and he has no personality. He acts like he doesn't give a crap and certainly doesn't instill confidence. But, if you are desperate enough, he is the guy to help you in my opinion. There are no guarantees with body hair. I've seen a 5000 graft procedure he did on real self and it looked like a horrible yield. Keep in mind he shows the best of the best for videos/photos. I'm assuming he is using nape hair for the front, because beard hair in the front looks awful. Nape hair is not safe as you probably know and could fall out later. If I was going to put hair in my scar, he would probably be the guy. There is another I know of that is good for that but he charges 12 a graft. Good luck.
  13. The concern with the low hairline is in regards to the density, future hairloss, and limited donor. I would guess this is much lower than the hairline was even before hair loss. In relation to forehead size, i think i will look fine. I have a big forehead too and would love a low hairline if it were practical.
  14. yes the hairline looks very aggressive. Hopefully it fills in substantially over the upcoming months. The hair behind it seems pretty dense, so you will need reasonable density for it to blend. Keep us updated with your results... Good luck!
  15. Oh ok, I just saw the part about 80% of the transplanted hairs falling out and wanted to assure you it was normal. Yeah, that sounds pretty scary, although I think some shock loss is expected. My surrounding areas always look horrible right after a procedure but seem to bounce back with no probs. I've heard around 15% is on the bad end and 5% on the good. But I think that is in regards to permanent loss. I think you are going to lose some surrounding hair just due to the stress and trauma but in my unprofessional opinion I think that isn't really the concern - it's when the dr actually damages the follicles of existing hairs. When a dr is experienced -- shaves the area -- and knows what they are doing, i think shock loss should be low. Some hairs are almost on their way out so those may never come back as you have noted. Hang in there... Eat healthy... Try not to stress.
  16. is your hair short? If you use a concealer, from my research I would go with Nanogen over Toppix or others. I've read the chemicals in Toppix and others can actually cause your hair to fail out over time. I forget the name of the chemical but if you look it up I'm sure you will find it. Too late now, but I always make sure to grow my hair out pretty long before having a procedure.
  17. I'm not sure you understand what shockloss is. The transplanted hairs are supposed to fall out. Shockloss is related to your existing hairs and happens when the existing hairs are damaged during transplantation among other things.
  18. Ok you are right he is recommended now. He was considered before and denied and there are numerous threads about that. I missed the one about him getting accepted, so my bad. I've seen all his videos... Every single one. I can point you to plenty of poor looking results (photos or videos). Not all of his results are bad. He strikes gold sometimes no doubt, but some of them show a completely lack of artistic talent and others have commented on this as well. He also has a slight advantage of using unsafe nape hair which can make for a soft hairline. Nape hair can be good and bad of course. Comparing him to a surgeon like Victor Hasson for example is just absurd in terms of consistent outstanding hairlines. I was trying to point this guy to the best surgeons, not ones that are decent and better than bosley. If someone wants to roll the dice and take a chance of getting one of his straight bowl shaped hairlines, then they should go for it. I could point you to one for example on realself.com where the guy had 5000 grafts and it looks absolutely horrible... No coverage at all. Granted it's BHT but the yield was clearly crap. He charges 8 a graft so you do the math. I actually consulted with him so obviously I think he is "decent", but I gave my opinion like you gave yours. All the best.
  19. My opinion sucks lol. Ok u had what you say are good results from Umar... Good for you. The surgeons i mentioned aren't inline with what most people recommend on this board?? Yeah right. I'm not the only one on here that has mentioned his poor hairlines. He is not the worst surgeon by any means and I almost went to him myself but not one of the best other than maybe in his innovation. You obviously have a chip on your shoulder having had work with him.
