  1. If a patient requires 4000 grafts and thinning donor would multiple fue be better in a long run than a single fut ?
  2. Abit shocked after reading this thread. Sugar - hope you are well.
  3. How about rogaine foam? What is the cheapest and for how much?
  4. i would think that human error would be the major cause. To draw a parallel with any other transplant - it does have a time frame, needs to be removed with precision and needs to be inserted into the recipient area with skill as well. However, this is done with a team of skilled personnel led by the surgeon. Think about it, know the people who are part of the whole surgical process.

  6. Curious, why is there a need for SMP for FUE scars in the first place?
  7. How long must you perform scalp exercise prior to FUT? Is it implied that you can get a decent good number of graphs (say 3000 - 4000 + ) ?
  8. @tooktheplunge - thank you for the detailed write up. I'm encouraged by the fact that there is a dedicated experience team involved who rotates. I'm suspect that fatigue is one of the problems in that could lead to transaction. I look forward to read your progress. I have almost the same balding pattern as you.
  9. Out of curiosity, what is the root cause for failure for a failed FUE/FUT procedure? Failure is defined as non-growth of transplanted grafts.

  11. Just want to have a sense on the existing patients. Also, has anyone done a FUT + FUE to fix the scar area?
  12. Hey Cal - care to share about your pre existing condition ? What norwood level are you at and what are your goals?
  13. @Mickey, cheers mate, I will take your thoughts into consideration. Thank you bro.
  14. @pupdaddy, question to yourself (or forum members) Which surgeon fits the following criteria & use non motorised FUE tools? 3. I would want a surgeon who punches (excises) all the grafts himself. It’s fine with me if his techs remove (extract) the grafts after they are punched out (excised), but I want the surgeon to perform the critically important work of punching/excising each and every graft to be transplanted. 4. I would want a surgeon who makes all the recipient sites himself (no techs making recipient sites) and who, ideally, places most or all of at least the single-hair grafts himself in the frontal hairline and temple sites. 5. I want a surgeon who performs at least as many FUE transplants as he does FUT transplants, is recommended on this forum, and is recognized as a “star” with FUE.
  15. @pupdaddy, hey man, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I have done my homework to a certain extent and for one - I'm certainly not going to do a FUT. I have thought about it for one year and hell no, I cannot create another problem right after the transplant (the solution) has remedied it. As you have rightly pointed out, hair loss is progressive. What we are trying to do is to buy time. Having said that, I was thinking to myself, in my 40s or 50s, (I have in mind on what hairstyle i can wear) and the worst case scenario is to shave my sides and my back with a #1 clipper. At least I can safely say that hey well there is hair on my hairline, midscalp and crown.
  16. @ Johnny - Thank you for the write up. I appreciate that on how you wrote these technical details down. Really helpful.
  17. Hey guys, just want to share, I feel terribly frustrated when it comes to searching for the right surgeon - as much as you try to identify someone that you can try to meet your needs, you feel very uncertain on how to proceed. I always worry what will happen to me 10 years down the road after the procedure. I do not feel confident yet with whats happening so far. Is there anyone who is able to guide me on how to move forward, I've submitted online consults a few weeks back but no one replied!
  18. Norwood 4 with retrograde alopecia. Life is terrible for me. I feel lost. I can't do a traditonal FUT to get sufficient grafts and FUE is really expensive.
  19. Noted. Mickey, thank you for providing this summary sheet on FUE/FUT, it helps me alot when I try to piece bits and pieces of information together. It gets exhausting when I'm reading this alone.
  20. Sorry if this seems a deviation from the doctors in the topic, how about canadian doctors like dr. rahal? does he do the extractions himself?
  21. Hi Mickey, thank you for sharing your experience. I really appreciate your honesty. It vocalised some of my skepticism during my consultation as well.
  22. I do hope all goes well with you. I'm a diffuse thinner as well - DPA, and I'm struggling to decide if FUT/FUE options, and secondly the worry of a depleting donor area too. Hang in there buddy.
  23. My take is see a doctor and let him determine what is the condition, if it is male pattern balding - he will start you on propecia if he deems it. @Mickey - could you share what is your greatest regret from HT surgery please?
