  1. Thank you for your response. Physiology - how can I determine if my scar will stretch in due course?
  2. Hi Orlhair1, Thanks for your response. My back is diffuse hence I wonder about staples vs sutures. In the event that I shave the back, which will be less evident?
  3. Is it true that staples give less scarring than sutures?
  4. (Sorry moderators if this is not the appropriate avenue to ask the question, please move it at your discretion) Dear all, I'm currently doing my research and I would like to ask, does anyone have the link to the following query that a member asked: "I’m Asian, Chinese to be exact, and was curious about any distinct traits of “Asian hair” that may present unique challenges for hair transplant operations. I understand that Asian hair is typically comprised of 1 or 2 follicular units which is the reason the why most Asians have very straight hair. Does this mean it’s harder for Asians to receive a cosmetically successful hair transplant since they have less follicular units? What challenges does this present for the performing hair transplant surgeon? Does this mean “dense-packing” is really important for Asian hair procedures? Would Asians need more grafts to cover a similar area compared to non-Asians since they have less follicular units? Any comments on these issues and any specific guidance for prospective Asian patients would be greatly appreciated. – Alex" "Dear Alex: Thank for your letter. You certainly have a grasp of the unique traits and “Asian hair” and you bring up some interesting questions about the implications of hair restoration in the Asian population. You are correct that in Asians the follicular units tend to have one or two hairs on the average rather than two, three, and four hairs, but I don’t necessarily believe that that is the reason that Asians have straight hair. Read the Story" However, I'm unable to open the url (hairloss.iahrs.org/hair-transplant/asian-hair-transplant-guidance/#more-193), which the doctor answered. Does anyone have the direct link, I would be most grateful.
  5. Dear Jotronic, thank you for your time in your response, much appreciated!
  6. Thank you guys for your comments so far. Well, this is pretty alot of information to take in right now. Was wondering would mattj or Jotronic share their views on this matter.
  7. Hey rauol80 - thanks for your feed back, appreciate it. How about FUT, is Dr. Rahal a leader in that? Will the scar lines be pencil thin?
  8. Dear all, I'm a norwood 4 and I reckon that I need 4000 grafts. I was told by my local dermatologist that the likelihood of a thicker scar for asian guys are higher as compared to Caucasian men. - Does anyone have any thoughts on that? Secondly, as I'm researching I'm likely to narrow between Dr. Rahal & Dr. Hasson. (In my opinion from what I gathered) Dr. Rahal is excellent in FUE, has a reputation for excellent hairlines whereas at Dr. Hasson is great at FUT and performing megasessions. - Am I wrong to make this observation? I worry tremendously about scarring. Has anyone been to Dr. Rahal or Dr. Hasson and did their FUT - how is the scarring like? Would like to hear your opinion and hope to learn from you guys.
  9. Hi there, just wondering, if a person who is heavily dependent on toppik with an norwood classifcation of 3/3A/4, would it be more prudent to go for a FUT instead of an FUE? This is because to not drag with multiple sessions and reduce the dependence on concealers, within a shorter time frame. Does anyone have these thoughts? Do share your experience and your decision making process.

  11. Hi Bill, Thank you for your response. As to the first question, I would like to clarify? Is it safe to say that the result will be permanent? Noted. On the second qn - probably I will have a face to face consult. Kind regards.
  12. Hi all, I just got to know about this forum and there are a few questions that I would like to bounce off in this forum. 1. Will transplanted hairs fall off eventually? 2. Will the surgeons reform the Hair Transplant at no extra cost, if it does not meet the patient satisfaction? Quite curious about this as I have been told by people about the consequence of HT. Would appreciate any guidance to help to assure me that I'm making a right decision eventually (I'm considering a FUE, actually). Kind regards.
  13. For patients who are Norwood 3/4, would you have chosen FUE instead of FUT as you have decided to shaven their hair short at the back?
  14. Hi there, I'm keen to learn more about surgeries performed in Asia as well.
  15. Hi all, I'm currently working in Hong Kong and I'm curious about hair surgeons in Asia. Friend recommended me some surgeons and I would like to hear your feedback on them Singapore: Dr. Eileen Tan - Mount Elizabeth Hospital; Dr Tyng Tan - The Hair and Laser Clinic S.Korea: Dr Lee Seok Jong - Kyungpook National University Hospital Fyi - I chanced on this website as I was doing my research and I would be most grateful if anyone could help me walk through this tough decision making path. Kind regards, S.
