  1. I think the idea of just filling in the corners is absurd. You're 20 years old and I guarantee you'll be back in a few years to fill in the tuft and possibly the rest of your frontal 1/3 after that. Plus, you always have the risk of shock loss as well, which might make the tuft area thin. I would wait until you are AT LEAST 25 years old and then start to seriously consider going for a transplant. I personally want to limit the number of sessions to 1 or 2 because I work in field where "down time" isn't always easy to get. You have to keep that in mind as well.
  2. Hey Stripped, I'm about 7 months post op as well and I'm having similar issues that you are having too (regarding uneven growth). Toppik works wonders for me but I haven't used it since last November; when grad school starts up in a few weeks I'll consider using it again unfortunately. Toppik runs a little bit when you sweat but maybe for you it won't; I suggest buying a travel size Toppik container and testing it out before you buy the one month supply. I've read multiple threads stating that between 8-10 months you'll see a considerable increase in density in the recipient area. The question is, does that refer to new hair growth or thickening of hair? Maybe both...I read different theories every day. Good luck with your future hair growth.
  3. Congratulations Mark. Dr. Hasson did an excellent job the first time round; hopefully you'll be satisfied with this upcoming result. I look forward to tracking your progress. Happy Growing!
  4. It's a shame you don't live in Vancouver anymore because you would be able to drive to H&W and wouldn't have to worry about airport security and all of that other nonsense. My advice is continue to research and pick out the surgeons that impress you the most. For me, it was Dr. Hasson and Dr. Rahal...talk to some of their patients and talk to the physicians directly over the phone if an in person consult isn't convenient for you. Good luck.
  5. Very interesting (and sad) case, I wish him all the best. The work looks great and I look forward to seeing his final results from the second procedure.
  6. Hey guys, I've started to notice thinning in the crown area in the past month or so. I've been on Proscar for about 10 months now and I've definitely noticed a difference in the texture of my hair. However, the crown seems to be thinning at a pretty steady rate. I'm thinking about adding Rogaine to the mix; I know a lot of people report a massive shed right after starting Rogaine. Are they referring to shedding in the area that they apply the product, or are they referring to shedding througout the entire scalp?
  7. Hey Bill, the same thing happened to me when I was 2 weeks post op. Continue to gently shampoo the area and eventually the scabs will come off. I know that area is really tender and it's hard to shampoo because you can't apply much pressure due to the soreness; however, shampooing becomes much more tolerable when the staples come out. Just keep working at them.
  8. Scottish Guy, your hair looks great man. I'd be a little bummed too with the density on the right side, however you still have a few more months of thickening left.
  9. Wow, what a great result! I bet his family and friends don't even recognize him. Kudos to Dr. Feller and his entire team.
  10. Toppik and Dermmatch when used in conjunction was great for me! However, the Dermmatch accelerated my hair loss. By the end of the day, the dermmatch was all intertwined with my hair and when I went to wash it off my scalp, the hair came with it. As far as Toppik, I have nothing negative to say about it. Dr. Hasson told me to stay away from Dermmatch because he performed a surgery on a gentlemen a few years ago and after the patient's hair grew in, he decided to start using Dermmatch. That same patient eventually went back to Dr. Hasson for touchup work because the Dermmatch caused the transplanted hairs to fall out.
  11. Dr. Rahal is the king of hairlines....you're result will be awesome!
  12. I wouldn't necessarily say this is a failed hair transplant, a disappointing result? Yes. Dr. Wong is one of the best surgeons in the world and I firmly believe he'll stand behind his work and he will offer you a free surgery or partial reimbursement. In my own opinion, I would stay as far way from concealers as possible (Dermmatch more that Toppik). Dr. Hasson believes they adhere to the scalp and intertwine with the existing hair, thus causing hair loss when you go to wash it out. That's what happened to me but everyone is different. Good luck!
  13. Well you're definitely a NW 6-7...I wouldn't completely rule out a HT for you but your expectations need to be realistic. The best outcome that you can expect is light coverage. This is just my opinion though...
  14. Personally, I don't find anything wrong with this patient's hairline. Hair transplants are not perfect, but I honestly I can't find anything wrong with this result.
  15. If you post pictures you'll probably get more responses. Side note, don't let travel or expense be an issue; if you do you'll more than likely have future regrets.
  16. Joe, this patient is looking good for being only 6 months. Is it safe to say that all of his transplanted grafts have "sprouted" or do you think there is more new growth to come?
  17. It's completely normal. I'm 6 months PO and I'm finally numbness free. For me, it started to subside around the 3rd and 4th months.
  18. I know you don't want to wait 5-10 years down the road to get a HT done, but just imagine what the technology will be like in 2020. Ten years ago, the hair transplant industry was pretty much a joke (with a few exceptions) but by no means was it anywhere near what it is today. I would continue taking the Propecia / Proscar and maybe begin using concealers for a while (Toppik would be my preferred choice). Dr. Hasson advised me against using Dermmatch; he believes it accelerates the hair loss process, and I agree with him.
  19. I couldn't disagree more. I do believe you need to give Propecia a full year and assess things when you reach your 1 year mark; however, I wouldn't necessarily say you should write off a HT altogether. You have diffuse thinning hair which makes it hard to transplant into that area because the Doc will have to plant in between existing hair, thus increasing the chances for shock loss. I'm not saying you should get it done right now, but I wouldn't completely write off having surgery down the road. Best of luck to you
  20. I can definitely relate to your story jdim. My personality changed dramatically when I started receding; in fact, many of my college friends would tell me that I was bipolar, but actually I was an emotional roller coaster because of my hair loss. I don't know much about Dr. Gallagher but Dr. Fellar is an excellent physician; I'm assuming your from PA (I am too). Dr. Lindsey is also an excellent physician as well. I believe he is based in Virgina; however, both of these doctors might recommend what Future_HT_Doc stated above. I agree with Future_HT_Doc, I think that you should wait until your at least 25/26 in my opinion. If you decide to go through with the procedure, I wish you luck.
  21. That's a sign of an excellent doctor. I wish you the best in the coming months man.
  22. I would have to agree with Phil. The overall texture of his hair looks to be much improved in comparison to his pre-op pictures (much like yours did). This patient must be thrilled with his results...Dr. Hasson and his team did an amazing job.
