  1. I'd be less weary buying Finasteride 5mg from walmart and cutting it in 1/4 than purchasing it from Canada, although I'm sure both are legit.
  2. Dr. Feller, These patients that are having bad results, have they had FUT or FUE or you've seen bad results with both? One of the causes that I feel will cause a wave of bad results are doctors who are not specialized getting into the FUE method of HT. They were sold a certain FUE machine and sent technicians to do all of the work, which should not be allowed. Interesting how time and the "waves" of bad results can bring us "interesting" information......
  3. So many factors can play into this. Improper care of grafts before placing them, incorrectly harvested or split, etc. Some unethical doctors have also been known to over split grafts. A patient pays for 1500 grafts, but the doctor takes 1000 and over splits them to add up to the 1500 count. Not only is this a rip off, but results will never come about due to follicles being damaged.
  4. It's called not having to pay Tax on the balance, since they're already reduced profits by offering a better price. Good for the patient, bad for the Tax Collector!
  5. I can tell you still have a lot of learning to do, and I don't mean that as a put down. Since we lose hair from 20-60s, considering you're only 21, If you end up with aggressive hair loss, you're going to run out of inventory and make your results look unfinished, which is even worse than losing hair. Shave your head? If so, you're going to be able to see a linear scar (FUT) or dot scars (FUE) all around your donor area, NOT COOL! As far as side effects, consult your doctor. It only affect about 2% of users and mostly happens within a month of trying, at which point you can stop. Don't jump at surgery. And if visit a doctor that recommends surgery, run the other direction, because any ethical doctor will not touch you at this point.
  6. Why would you take the chance if you can go to Walmart and pay $9 for Finasteride 5mg (30 count) and take a quarter pill a day? Average cost is $2.25/month...Can't beat that.
  7. Way too young at 21, and much more if you're losing crown and starting to invest your "inventory" in an area that you hardly see and are going to chase for 45 years to come. Get on medical therapy and wait a few years to see its effects. If you keep losing, I wouldn't start down the hair transplant path. If it holds, you can then consider surgery. Best of luck!
  8. Biotin is a vitamin that can strengthen hair but it doesn't block the hair loss gene. Viviscal are a marine complex vitamin that has helped numerous patients with strengthening their hair. Again it doesn't block the hair loss gene, but does contain biotin and other hair strengthen vitamins.
  9. With a future pattern of hair loss and the fact you were only 22 years old, I would've put you on medical therapy and wait a few years to see how it held up. Hopefully you will get the result needed and have enough donor for future surgeries. all the best!
  10. If you go to International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and type in PRP in their search box...you'll get a great article on PRP and how effective it's been to help athletes with tissue improvement in order to help them with elbow, shoulder injuries, HOWEVER...there isn't enough evidence to confirm it helps with transplanted hair.... I would've invested the cost of PRP into more hair transplants...he couldn't helped grafts survive just by placing them in HypoThermosol...and it wouldn't have cost any extra.........
  11. I agree with Mickey85...angles are wrong...not congruent with native hair at all. Donor should have been harvested in a more spread out pattern..instead of concentrated in a certain area...now making that area thinner than the rest...lazy work!! This is a typical result of FUE not being performed correctly. I think we're going to see a very large waive of these types of results coming our way....unfortunately an unlimited amount of doctors have jumped on the "FUE bandwagon"....when not every patient is a good candidate for FUE.....
  12. Bosley is know for low-balling number of grafts so you pay a high premium per graft price...and have to keep coming back for more at a high premium price again....Very typical of them. Best of luck!
  13. You should rest the night of surgery and head back home the next day. Best of luck!!
  14. Kudos for being on therapy for so long...you'd be way worse without it. Keep taking it....and do your research and have a face to face consult with a hair transplant surgeon...one that has a surgery background preferably.
  15. I agree with Spanker...all frontal seems to be thinning. I would get on Finasteride and wait at least til you're 25. If it's controlled your hair loss and only frontal is needed...you would have the option of moving forward as long as yo continue therapy (finasteride). Best of luck...take your time.....
  16. Viviscal...over the counter at CVS or Walgreens...should run you about $40-50...
  17. Any type of "biopsy" is going to leave a scar. Unfortunately, there are many doctors who promote the FUE as scarless, which is a deception. FUE leaves small, round and sometimes white pigmentation scars in the donor....but if you leave your hair just long enough...no one will be able to see it.
  18. Techs should be limited on separating grafts and placing. A licensed doctor should be the only one allowed to cut into skin...whether harvesting or creating slits where grafts are placed. Tech's doing complete surgeries is against the law in many, if not all, States in the US. State medical boards are becoming aware of this...I'm sure we'll see many licenses pulled in the future. Patient safety should be #1.....period!
  19. Hmm...Before picture frontal hair was brushed forward to reveal crown loss....the AFTER picture the patient has let his hair grow longer in front and is brushing to help cover crown area. Would be great to see more pictures to see real results. Thanks.
  20. Hi Melinda, First of all...don't beat yourself up. There is a great deal of information out there related to hair loss and how to get it back that confuses the heck out of patients. If you go to International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, and type PRP in the search box, you'll find an extensive and interesting article on how PRP has been beneficial to injured tissue but IS NOT YET PROVEN TO HELP REVIVE DEAD FOLLICLES THAT ARE NOT PRODUCING HAIR!!! I put this in CAPS because a great deal of doctors are promoting PRP (many of them are even members of the ISHRS...where they all go to learn and keep up with methods) but then when you read the small writing on their websites or information they make you sign at the office, it states they don't offer any guarantees. That's where I find this insulting....taking $2500 from a patient but not offering guarantees??? If you're not so confident of the service you're offering that you have to write a clause to cover your butt....shame on you for offering it in the first place! I'd call the office immediately and ask for your money back. I'd try proven FDA hair loss products such as minoxidil, laser therapy and/or even Viviscal vitamins, which you can get over the counter. Try going to other consultations in order to find a more balanced game plan for you. Best of luck!!
