  1. A couple 2 week post-op photos. I'm able to cover the area now and it's still mostly reddish skin now and not so much on the scabs. Got my stitches out and the back is looking ok and hurting much less. Sleeping is way easy now but still taking ibuprofin at night. Started working out again too but no crunches. Only weird thing is I've woken up with a headache the last few mornings (just regular forehead headache) so not sure what's going on there.
  2. hey there =) Also female and with hairline issues. I just had 2000 grafts for my hairline almost 2 weeks ago. Still kind of recovering but I'm posting pics as I go. Feel free to take a look. Note tho: I did do FUT.
  3. Day 10 Postop photos So at Day 10, I've been rubbing my scabs some more again and I think I got a good majority of them to come off today. Don't want to be too rough on them so the ones that aren't ready....just aren't ready yet. I tried combing my hair forward in a similar style to my usual straight hair style and it seems like most of it gets covered but a portion still kind of sticks out. I'm supposed to go into the office tomorrow and I'm not sure about that. I may try wearing a hat (one that doesnt put pressure on the grafts) but yeah. I guess we'll see. At 10 days, i definitely thought I'd be looking better by now. This Thursday is when I can work out again so hopefully by then ( 2 weeks postop) I'll feel better about being out in public again.
  4. LOL i have to laugh at this post but hey, I get it My doc said 3 days with no sex and I assume that means masturbation too.
  5. Yeah Since the first night, I've been sleeping with 2 pillows instead of 1. The doc said that was the least amount of elevation. Day 3 or 4, I did try sleeping with one pillow but there was more pain so I went back to 2 pillows. That seems to be fine. Update: Last night I went with no percocet, just ambien and ibuprofin. Slept until about 4am and then had trouble sleeping more. Got up around 6 or 7 and took ibuprofin again and dozed off a bit while my fiance got ready for work. Feeling a bit grumpy today and I think part of it may be coming off the percocet but hey over 24 hours out of the woods in that respect so thats good. The ibuprofin does seem to help with the pain in the back. I also took 1 week post-op pics yesterday including the donor/incision area and sent them off to the doc office to make sure everything looks ok to them.
  6. so why not mixing with ambien? it's the ambien thats actually letting me sleep. I've had issues before with surgery in the past where I had to sleep on my back. My back would hurt so bad I couldnt sleep. So yes my doctor prescribed the ambien as well as the percocet. I requested it and he prescribed it. I am going to try just ambien and ibuprofin tonight though and see how it goes.
  7. Thanks for your reply! Good to know it seems fairly normal. More than anything maybe I just needed to hear that. Yeah the pain isnt excruciating,it's just definitely apparent, esp at night when I'm laying on it. Tonight I'm hoping to just take ibuprofin and ambien and no percocet so hopefully I can still sleep.
  8. Hey all Tomorrow is Day 7 post-op for me after having 2000 grafts transplanted (FUT) from the back to fill in the corners of my hairline. At this pt, I think I'm less worried about the front / grafts and more worried about the incision in the back. At day 6, I'm still experiencing a lot of stretching and 'hair standing on end' sensations along with regular pain (not very bad or anything) in that area. I'm mostly only taking ibuprofin at this point except for at night when I still need to sleep on my back so I take percocet and ambien to sleep thru any discomfort/pain. Is all that pretty normal? How long before pain/weird sensations having to do with the donor area start to go away?
  9. Hey all! Well i did it! Jan 2nd, I went through with a hair transplant procedure (Folecular Unit) with Dr. Gabel. I have some fairly major recession in the corners of my hairline and have been wanting to have a more rounded look again for a while. It's annoying enough that I don't pull my hair back in a pony tail or wear headbands at all. So my fiance and I drove down the day before with enough time to check in at our hotel, get dinner, and find the office. The next morning, I got up early and washed my hair, face, and neck with antibacterial soap and off we went. We got into the office and were ushered into a room where I signed some papers and they went over my checklist. Dr. Gabel came in eventually and started drawing lines where he thought I wanted the hair transplanted to and after a few tries and confirms and pictures and mirror checks, we all agreed that we'd found the right lines. We left my hairline itself (in the middle) alone as this was really only an exercise of bringing the corners in. I have to say, the whole experience was quite wonderful. The staff and Dr. Gabel were all very welcoming and professional and everything. The only parts that hurt slightly were the needles for putting local anesthetic (as expected) and the rest of it was just a matter of listening to music, watching movies, and/or talking with the doctor and nurses. I drugged up for that night and slept ok (with added ambien) .... wasn't in a lot of pain. The next day, we went back and they cleaned everything up and sent us on our way. I've now finished Day 3 post-op and the swelling hasn't been too bad...I've been able to stick with just ibuprofin during the day and then taking percocet and ambien to help me sleep (staying on my back). Here's hoping recovery goes well and that the worst is over =) I'll post pics at some pt.
  10. and so I went with Dr. Gabel http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/173103-scheduled-dr-gabel.html Thanks for everyone's input
  11. So over the last couple months, I had done consults with doctors in the Seattle area where I live and didn't really like what I had found , esp when talking to people on here. The Bosley surgeon was rather annoying (didn't like his attitude), the guy in Bellevue (Stern) did other things besides hair and didn't seem very experienced, and the guy in Kirkland (Goertz) seemed a little too desperate for me to choose him and after talking to people on here, he actually had a bad rep. I had previously discounted Dr. Gabel in Oregon because he only does surgery down there and comes up to Seattle for consults periodically. After hearing good things about him on this forum, I decided to skype with him and then meet with him in person when he came up this last week. So I scheduled. January 2nd. Way to start the new year eh? Looks like it'll be 1200-1400 grafts to fill in the corners of my hairline.
