  1. I can't believe it's the first time I have seen this thread , I was dying to get an info like that! Janna, if you don't mind I'd like to ask few questions; 1- Is there any specific reason why the hairline designed so high and conservative? 2- Do you and Dr. Shapiro recommend this type of combinations for a patients who prefers buzz cut? 3- Can a patient trust SMP with FUT/SMP combo? I mean if someone to plan more grafts with FUT and count on SMP to cover the scar, would that be a wise choice? 4- Are there any more examples of Shapiro Medical Group that done HT/ SMP cases?
  2. Hariri, Thank you for your reply. I learned about Dr. Lorenzo just a couple of days ago but besides some skepticism, I really like what I saw. However, my main choice with FUE will be Rahal or Bisanga. I don't like Feller's attitude against many controversial topics and he does not support FUE megasessions.
  3. Cargo, It was in London and I'm not sure but his name was Damen and he was running the London clinic, not to confuse him with Damien which is forum administrator. What I don't like was the hairline definately, which was way to well -defined and helmet shaped.
  4. Skeptic, I calculated it in more optimistic way, He does the procedures bw 9 months and assuming that he does 2000 grafts each; 9 months * 2000 grafts * 6 procedures: 53 months with 12000 grafts. Nearly 4.5 years to have one third of the density of your original hair? Oh, I forgot , each procedure costs 10k euros * 6 procedures: 60000 euros. So, the claim was "unlimited donor supply". If you have a good density/laxity , H&W or Rahal can give you this with less time and cheaper price an definately with more artistic approach. So this claim "unlimited donor supply" is just useless for me unless they show me someone that they have done more than 10k grafts with nw6-7 level . Otherwise, all of us have seen full restorations from Rahal or H&W.
  5. I am researching for 3 years now and I am pretty sure what I want to achieve. Unlike the many members on this forum, I am not wishing for my long youthful hair. I know I'm not gonna have it. So that's why I'm opting for a buzzed look/hairline that frames my face. Maybe some of the members will say "just shave it don't worth the money/time" but as a buzz cutter for 2 years , the hairline is essential even when you buzz it with the lowest clipper. Chrisdav, I get what you mean saying that I need to consult with top doctors. However, I wanted to get some answers from this forum first.
  6. chrisdav, Maybe I exaggerated the hairline , but I mean that it could be relatively lower than Joe's. I am 26 now and I know no hairtransplant would give a full restoration. So I want to have a buzz cut that give me the shade of the hairline like this picture. I never talked to any coalition doc about this and I don't know how they 'll respond. There are many representatives in here in this forum so if they are reading this , maybe they could give some opinions.
  7. Cargo, Have you seen all 3 of them in person? I just seen HIS work in person and believe me it was not so good.
  8. I think the part that everyone misses is the part that is most important: If this technique claims " nearly unlimited donor zone" , we should see nw6-7 guys who are fully restored with more than 10k grafts. Otherwise, what does this technique gives to us? 2000 grafts with no scar? I know scar is important but with certain growth which is not much , scar is invisible via FUE. I think if you are up to nw4 at most, you can definately get a full restoration. This technique should provide a full restoration for advanced nw level or I think it makes nonsense.
  9. Janna, I was talking about the recipent area redness, not the donor site.
  10. If I remember correctly ,HIS is the first in this business started in 2002 and the owner of the clinic had done it at that time approximately.10 years is not a short time but yes I agree that it will process over time. Also , HIS is the worst in hairlines I think.
  11. "That area is still somewhat red because it was transplanted with 3,100 grafts six months prior." Thats what I'm talking about! Why the area is red even after 6 months?
  12. I want to ask something about Dr. Lorenzo's this video ; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=az4rlpGVuBM&list=PLE576692115C0EF0B&index=38&feature=plpp_video Why the recipent site looks red when shaved? It says that this is preop.
  13. I'm sorry if I'm digging this much but I'm pretty sure this is what I want to achieve. While I was looking at Joe's blog, I saw this picture as this is before his 3rd surgery with all his transplanted hair buzzed. So I come up with this, I draw red lines that I wish to achieve with FUE and give me that buzz look. Here are my questions; 1- Is that achievable with FUE? 2-Is there any other incision technique rather than lateral slit for a buzz cut look? PS: Joe, I don't know if it's wrong to use your pics in my post , if I'm doing something against your blog or this forum , please know that it's not on purpose and just warn me so i can remove it.
  14. scar, thank you for your reply. Always well informed answers. Could you please share with me the ones that you consider good hairlines??
  15. Scar, From your posts i know that you have a big concern about the hairlines with SMP. And as i have seen it in person ( i saw in HIS london clinic staff name Damen) and I was dissapointed. It was a clear helmet head. When i talk to him about this he said that he had done the procedure 2-3 years ago and their constuction of hairline has massively improved. In my opinion, HIS is the worst in designing hairlines among other companies. However, i keep telling myself that there must be a way to create better hairlines. I dont know if this is the lazyness of the companies or their lack of artisty. But the results varies a lot. Some are perfect , some are just helmets. What makes that difference? When you ask the companies , they say that it varies from patient to patient or its patiens choice. And i dont get how 2 person which does not have a hairline with nearly the same characteristics can vary that much. Just my 2 cents.
  16. Cargo, Please inform us about the consult and the photos! I know there are many people who are interested in SMP as much as we do and I really like to get some unbiased and "sceptial" info about someone who is interested! Also , I totally agree with the shaving.
  17. Cargo65, Thank you for the reply. However, I'm living very far away from all the clinics that offer SMP. That's why I'm asking in this forums that is there anyone who are as much interested as I am and/or that have done the procedure and tell about it with an unbiased judgement.
  18. I know it's a bit controversial topic but I also know that many of the forum members are very interested and curious about this topic. I look over and over to forums not only this one but others and I can't seem to find any valuable info about it. Nearly all info are biased. I am really interested in this and I know some of the people around here are completely against it. One day I look at the galleries of the companies that does this and say "don't be stupid its just a painting on your head" but one day I look and say "it looks perfect". If I could find someone who documents the process of SMP with an unbiased and fair judgement like people here do with their ht's I'll be more than happy. I know Time To Do Something has booked an appointment with GLI and I'm very hopeful that he'll write the whole procedure here. But is there no one else around who can give a info about this? Is there anyone who had seen this procedure seen it person ? I mean any info would be very good.
  19. Ttds, Good luck with your choice and im sure everything will be great. You are the first person that i know doing this from htn. Please document the process and do not leave us without any info !
  20. First of all I know many of the people on this forum supports fut and longer hairstyles but i needed to ask. H&W practices "lateral slit technique" that looks incredible with longer hairstyles but very weak with shorter hair. I dont know which other doctors apply the same technique. On the other hand, some fue doctors like Dr.Bisanga ,Dr.Keser gets better results with buzz cut look. There was a guy in the forum (i guess his avaras was "feelzgood") that recueved fue from dr.armani and looked great buzzed. so my question is, is there other techniques for a buzz cut look? if so , which docs are the best at it?
  21. dr. charles, i seriously doubt that. matt, is there a rule of dr.rahal about this? is he ever experienced a poor growth due to sigarette addiction? are patienrs allow to use nicotine patches during procedure?? addingly, id like to hear more about the other clinics procedures against smoking.
  22. Hello to all, As some of you know , i'm at my mandatory military service and i got 14 days left. it went really comfortable as i was not in the terror zone but you know the military , it's never that easy. In my contry ( Turkey) it is mandatory to go to military for 6 months if you are a collage graduate, 15 months for high school and lower. it is always a burden for men here and "real life decisions" such as work , marriage ,career starts after serving. So 14 days later , i will be a free man. For 3 years now i have been actuvely researching about my hairloss and writing in this forum for 2.5 years. I have learned a lot , nearly everthing , from this forum. I always listened to experienced ones saying "RESEARCH" abd never rushed into anything. Today , i know i must do something with my hairloss and decided to share my thoughts with you. For me , the key word is "to be happy with yourself". We all see maybe thousands of different pictures and have a comman thought of what is a good result and what is a failiure. However, we are all here for to feel good about ourselves and when you like what you see in the mirror, than nothing else is important. I'm 26 and nw 5-6 diffuse thinner. i have basicly lost my hairline, mid section is pretty thin , but the crown is holding well thanks to propecia.( i cant post pics because im writing this fom cell phone but i have my pics in my other threads.) My genes say that im gonna b a complete nw5-6 in few years. I noticed my hairloss in 2009 and after 3 months of denying ,one day i buzzed it completely and using like that ever since. Now today , after 3 years if research , i am finally deciding. I know htn is a bit "fut-biased", i think im gonna take my chance with fue. after long long thoughts , i come up with this 1- I dont want to lose my option to buzz ever. 2-There is always a possibility of not being happy with fut. even my donor supports 10k+ grafts, i may never be happy with the uncapability of covering my entire nw 6 scalp. With fue, i can get a good hairline ,buzz it and dont think about it. 3-I'm buzzing my head wirh the lowest clipper for 2 years now. i know i like it, the first time i started buzzing my hairline was good and i was happy with myself. i know ill be happy if i continue to buzz with a good hairline. 4-I am 25 and i dont want to have a high hairline with a good density overall. i prefer good hairline, diffuse thinnig with buzz look. This summer i have my plan.I am going to us and canada for a month. I am going to rent a car from ny where i start my journey and go to Dr. Rahal, Dr.Shapiro ,Good Look Ink, Hasson&Wong , Dr.Rassman for Smp and Dr.Umar. Each of the doctors and places I'm planjing to stay for 2-3 days , see their work and most importantly what they think about my head an what my options are. I am not rushing into fue also, thoughts of Dr.Rahal and Dr.Hasson are the kost important ones since they are the best in the world for complete restorations. Maybe I am a perfect candidate that may recieve more than 6-7k in a session and have a complete restoration. I am not going to do anything before i get all the opinions from those clinincs. Sorry for the long post. I may have forgotten something to write but these are basicaky my plan right now. All i want is a day when i dont think about my hair when i get up in the morning and concentrate other aspects of my life. all thoughts are highly appreciated.
  23. scar, always great posts my friend , tatally agree with you. for your first and second points , that is the exact reason why i wont go to HIS clinic. they results vary depending on the "technician" (we cant say "artists for some employees al over the world right? ) a lot. however , the chances of meeting that good artist is higher if you choose to gli or nhi. as far as i know , good look ink does only one client a day and in nhi dr.pak does the procedure. i might be wrong byt its worth asking. now i think of an idea : can we just go to gli, open their own web site with who is arranging the procedure and say " i want the technician who did this to work on my scalp and noone else." in ht , we choose a doctor. we choose him because of his results ,consistency and artisty. many of us travel many km's just to have his procedure at that specific doctorn why not we choose in smp? all we see in their comercials are representatives , managers etc. how about the one who DOES the procedure? if we ask something like that , would they be completely honest and professional and allows to choose the artist or just say " every practioner is same" bla bla? i seriously doubt that.
  24. scar, i really love your posts my friend , always very informative and always makes sense. i totally agree with your first two points. thats why im never gonna choose HIS. what i see on the web and what i see in person when im at their london clinic varies a lot. on the other hand , in goodlook ink and nhi, the chances of metting that artist is higher. as far as i know gli does.only 1 client in one day where in nhi dr.pak is the only obe who does the procedure.i might be wrong about this but its worth checking out.
  25. joe, as far as i remember you recieved 2500 grafts in your first procedure with h&w that gave you a great frontal covarage. if to talk about this case, applying 2500 completely to the front and buzz cutting it does not make any difference?
