  1. I ve just found out about this hair clinic is also offering SMP and the results seems good. Anyone have any info about the clinic or the procedure??
  2. shampoo, these pics are 1 years apart but yes lightning makes a huge difference. I am on proscar for 3 years now.
  3. pics as promised, ps: last pic is from last year that i send to jotronic. different lightning but what do you guys think?
  4. İ took the pictures of my back today in the direct sunlight. İ always knew i have some thinning on the crown but in the direct sunlight , the lines can clearly be seen and it is gonna be big, even bigger than bobman's i think. İ am buzzing my head for 3 years now, and this length is the longest for me. İ don't shave with razor , i use philips' rotating clipper with no guard. İ dont wanna go with fut because i dont wanna lose the option to buzz my hair. Also after seeing that crown, i know im not gonna be happy with my whole head unless i get 15kgrafts or something. İ know that im not a good candidate for fue but im thinking about getting a good hairline with fue and smp with milena lardi. İt seems to be the best option for me i think . What do you guys think? Oops ,seems like i cant upload files with ipad. İ'll post them when i had the chance to get to my pc.
  5. So, I have been using finasteride for nearly 3 years now and first two years I used propecia but due to financial issues , I switched to proscar. Since I'm too lazy to cut the pill , I have been taking it 5mg per day (no side effects at all) . However, my hairloss accelerated for the last 2-3 months. The question is, does my immune system get used to proscar and not working? Should i switch to duasteride? Lower the dosage? Any help is appreciated.
  6. I am really interested in SMP and researched a lot and so far , to be honest the best results I've seen is from Good Look Ink's web gallery. However, their "secrecy" about their procedure and aggressive sales approach is scaring me. Nowadays, a great ht expert spex has become a consultant for beauty medical that makes that company more reliable. Also spex said something about 3-d effect of the procedure but from what I have seen in their website, I'm still not impressed. So if spex reads this, hear me; more info , photo, video please!!
  7. Hi all, This tread seems to be getting a little aggressive huh? Anyway just my opinions; I'm really interested in having a large fue procedure. As I am nw 6 diffuse thinner and never want to lose the option to buzz, fue plus smp combo seems the best option for me. As for the doctors, so far I have seen Dr. Lorenzo's good documentary about his large sessions. However, I see some redness in the recipient area even after 9-10 months after the procedure. A guy had a 5k grafts with Dr. De Reys and I think his result was good. About Keser issue ; I have read maybe 5 turkish patients who are turned down by him because of their advanced balding in turkish forums. I'm not gonna say he is "coward" but his approach to fue is non risky. I'm in the textile business and if someone comes to me and asks for to produce something that the factory isn't capable of, I'm gonna refuse the offer. I think the same goes here, Dr. Keser is good with small fue cases, but not capable of mega sessions.
  8. Hairupthere, I was not talking about any specific person or condition. English is not my native language so it's probably my fault that i tell it right. I was just trying to say that I have never seen a FUE approach that aims the whole donor area to become less dense and use it to a nw 5-6. After seeing my cousins head , this just made me wonder about it. He has a very bad donor characteristics and he is a diffuse thinner. However , because of his donor is very low , his thinning is nearly unnoticeable. So I was wondering that if some doctor uses the whole donor area with fue , will it make the ht better?? I mean when I was looking at my cousin , it's only "a guy with fine hair."
  9. Hi all, İ was wondering something about fue and this may sound stupid to some since i really dont know a lot about the fue technique. Today i met with my cousin. He is nearly 40 years old with a diffuse thinning nw 6 but he still has a decent hair with a good hairline. When i was looking at his hair , i noticed that his donor zone is very low and he has a fine hair , probably the worst candidate for a ht. But since his donor densitiy is pretty low , his thinning on top of is head is less obvious. What is mean is the contrast of density is nearly none between his donor and his recipent site, he never had a ht and probably never will. So my question is , if someone with a high nw level such as 5-6 ( with a good density in donor) goes for a fue , wouldnt it be logical to use all his donor site and decrease the density difference ? Lets say he has 90 fu/cm2. İf doctor extracts between 35-40 fu/cm2 (from all of his donor area) the sides will be 50-55 fu s and the top will be 35-40 fu s, assuming that he is completely bald on top. İ may sound stupid but this i thought about all day and hope someone clarifies me on that.
  10. His hairloss pattern looks exactly as mine but to be honest, i don't like the result. Maybe seeing some pictures with this man buzzed his hair real short can change my mind.
  11. TTDS, Good luck with your procedure and it is so nice to hear you again!! Janna, Thank you so much for giving us a lot of info on SMP/FUE combo which we are dying to find out about! About questions; 1-Has anyone noticed he had a tattoo on his head? 2-At what length of the sides it becomes clearer that its 2-D and noticable? 3- Any color changes? (I guess we can see that in pictures also) 4-What about the removal of this ? Is it completely reversible without any scarring?? I guess that's all come up to my mind. Thank you again!
  12. Yes I've seen that too and it seems good look ink is doing the best smp work. I know they use their best photos but in their gallery section , the close ups look very impressive.
  13. Scar, I never knew you had done it. Have you done it recently ?? Where did you get it done? If you don't want to discuss this on the forum , please pm me!!
  14. Spanker and Joe, I am buzzing my head with the lowest clipper for 3 years now , approximately from the time I started to notice that im balding. I always tell my cousins ( all of them nw5-6) to buzz their sides because it would look definately much younger and better look, so i agree with both of you. However, I look at SMP as a good alternative for bald guys. Dont get get me wrong , im still not convinced to it , there are many unanswered things but besides from going to have a helmet head and high density , can one go for a more subtle and low density look , just to frame his face? Every one of us know that how important is to have a hairline. Could that be achieved?
  15. Joe, Thank you for your answer. However, I'd like to get an opinion from you. Lets assume that I'm a nw6 at a young age and have a low donor density and low laxity and looking for a buzz cut/shaved look. What should I do and what do you suggest me to do ??
  16. Aaron, Exactly! From the 3 companies that provide SMP , HIS is the most open and cleanest about their procedure, however I really don't like their hairlines. GLI seems to provide the best results in terms of similarity of a follicle and hairline shape but as Janna told, it seems that they have some issues with the longevity of the ink. I am really really interested in this since I'm planning to use my hair buzzed but I am still not %100 convinced to this procedure. Janna, Thank you for the quick and honest answers. By the way , could you inform me more about this ink that Joe told ? Seems like I missed that. If not on forum , could you please pm me the practitioner and the web site? Thank you.

  18. Janna, Regarding to your answers; "On a high nw level you are referring to - Dr. Ron would recommend a conservative hair line with FUE even if you plan for SMP. SMP is not permanent as far as we can see at this point. The color fades fairly quickly so you have to do touch ups multiple times. We feel you shouldn't get "caught" having to do something to maintain a look forever. So plan SMP for enhancing but not make it absolute necessity. " I don't get the relation between the duration of the ink and the conservativeness of the hairline. About this case, yes it is good that we see a good approach of SMP+FUE but what I don't like about it is the very very conservative hairline. "I think you may be classifying NW 6's incorrectly. If they have hairs to buzz, they are closer to a NW 4. NW 6's don't have hairs to buzz except for few strands of hair here and there on top and the hairs below the bottom of crown to the sides. A buzz cut hair length varies from guard #3 to #7. If you go any lower, you achieve a shaved look. For the buzzed look, you have to have some real hairs grafted then add SMP to get a denser look." I think I am not. There are some people who have a diffuse thinning all the way in their nw6 area. You can clearly see the difference between the hair in sides and on top. However, when they buzz it with the lowest clipper, (what I mean by buzz is to use a clipper with no guard, check out Philips 180* rotating clipper) it looks like they have a full head of hair. "I haven't seen any results in person from other SMP clinics and frankly, I haven't seen that many from GLI to say if one is better than the other. I can say that when Dr. Shapiro visited NHI, Dr. Rassman was a lot more forthcoming about their technique than GLI. With HIS clinic being in London, it's hard to see any of their patients in person." Janna, what does Dr. Shapiro think about the future of this treatment? Can anything be improved in order to achieve more three dimensional look? Are there more cases that you can share??
  19. Joe, Thank you for your reply. Although I agree that I would be really depressed if it found out, I still think that this may be a good option. I mean what do you think about doing it for people who has nearly no solution for their hairloss via ht? Or for the people who wants to go for the shortest cut possible?

  21. Hey guys, Since SMP is becoming more popular and more controversial topic on HRN, what are your favorite results you have seen ? For me , Good Look Ink is my favorite.
  22. Janna, I agree with you about this companies being so secretive about their methods, techniques, inks etc.. I mean the idea of tattooing your head always seems a bit "brave " move for someones life and instead of being more transparent about their work , all those companies are really a black box. When we look at the great ht docs like Shapiro , Hasson or Rahal , everything is %100 transparent from what needle they use to how they extract the hairs. The choice of patients is down to their preference after knowing all of these facts. Those SMP companies on the other hand makes this as "we have a super secret super new ink that is great!" and the other one says " no ours are more super and more secret!". Thats what I don't like. However, I still believe that SMP is a good option for a buzz cutters like me and Dr. Shapiros opinions on supporting it with FUE always encourages me. So , here are my questions . 1- What would be the plan of FUE+SMP in high norwood levels(5, 5a,6) ? I have posted a picture that what I think. Create a hairline with 1-1.5 cm wide with a good density to have the 3d illusion and rest is SMP. What does Dr. Shapiro think about this? 2-Also , in my daily life I see some diffuse thinnes that really lost neary all of their hair in nw 6 level but when they buzz it to lowest clipper with no guard, it looks like as if they have a good hair and chooses to buzz. After 3-4 days the density difference becomes obvious. So , I've always thought this; If you apply the SMP with "less dense" than the sides, it will look ok and that can give a freedom to not to shave it every single day. What do you/Dr. Shapiro think about that?? 3-As a clinic , what do you think about the major SMP companies like HIS, GLI or NHI ? I know GLI is local but maybe the other results look more impressive to you? This is what I wanted to explain with first question;
  23. Matt, Let me put it this way; Is there any example like this "A patient came to us with very low laxity and Dr. Rahal said he'd only be able to take 3-4k grafts. Patient went and stared scalp laxity exercises and after 6-7 months Dr. was able to get 6-7 k". Is there any example like that??
  24. Matt, With improving your laxity with exercise , I mean how much increase should a person expect? I mean is there any percantage about this?
